"Are you...is this...a dream?" "The best kind of dream...one we can share." "But why here? Why now?" "Why not here? Why not now? *For what better place to dream than in Paris?*"
Ratatouille is such an underrated move. It's a shame that this film is of the lesser remembered. I loved its idea of how life is unpredictable, you don't have to be what society expects you to be, and that just because something is "new" and "unheard of" doesn't mean it can't be beautiful.
just the premise of a socially-despised rat both in the rat world and the human world doing something in the heart of a busy 5 star kitchen. It's these types of themes and premises that make me appreciate movies all the more.
The fact that Disney and Pixar made a film that put us in the center of the world of food is simply amazing. The film demonstrates food and what its flavor means. It puts you in the hustle and bustle of a 5 star kitchen, then takes you back to the elegancy of Paris. This film is phenomonal.
I agree it is terribly underrated! It has an amazing soundtrack and story and lesson with it! One if the reasons why I take french as a foreign language too!
This movie is what inspired me to go to Paris... finally, I went to Paris last summer and went on a boat tour on Le Seine river. The sun was setting and I played this song on my earphones while watching the Eiffel Tower and the Notre Dame... it was so magical and breathtaking! I couldn't believe I was in Paris! Still can't believe I had that moment. I so want to return...
Dominick A Nah. The story is just too perfect. It's just like I wouldn't believe you if you told me you were the Russian ambassador, or had the hope diamond, or you took a shower. But I do believe in this person's dream. They can dream of Paris, I can dream of being a millionaire, and you can dream of having a neck that is not the length of the country of Chile. The difference is, our dreams are possible.
Kind of makes me feel slightly emotional, lightly thoughtful, and somehow melancholous in a warm way- as if relating to casual acceptance of what isn't inherently perfect yet tries to be.
this movie is one movie that made me pursue a job as a chef now i work at a four star restaurant in the windy city and every time i see this movie i always think back to when i was a kid and id always want to cook something and eat it while watching the movie a lot of times i just made omelettes that over flowed but recently when i watched it i actually made ratatouille and i felt so happy i could have cried.
This is the single greatest song ever. The way it flows and how its performed fills you up inside the beginning is soft and climactic but when it gets to the peak of the song i cant help but close my eyes and appreciate it like i have never done to a song before. Truly art.
My fiance and I named our two pet rats Emile and Remy. It was great because their personalities were just like those in Ratatouille; Remy more reserved and careful, Emile silly and hungry all the time. Emile's still part of our little family but we had to have Remy put to sleep 😔
Gosh...soo beautiful~ Just imagine you and your lover walking in Paris and listening to this soundtrack with you two sharing the same earphones and he just holding you by the waist...
Yes, When I first watched Monk, it took me like five minutes to recognize the singer in the theme song and I was like "Oh my gosh he sings in Toy Story!" God, Randy Newman's voice is so amazing!
WALL-E is my favorite Disney movie personally, but I firmly believe that Ratatouille is Pixar's best film (a tad better than UP, a tad), I don't know why but there's just something about it that makes it different. That being said I'm not sure how Pixar is doing now, I mean what's on the slate, The Good Dinosaur? Cars 3? Ugh why Cars 3?!?!
God, I freaking love animated films, both Pixar and Dreamworks have this ability to craft these wonderful works of art that most live action films seem to lack nowadays. Blu sky hasn't don't that so far for me, hopefully that'll change with Peanuts.
Jessica Sky Tardif Yeah it was, but... how do I say it? It was a different kind of masterpiece. HTTYD is a really epic piece of work, probably the most epic animation film ever, and really is a masterpiece, BUT the Pixar movies are masterpieces in a different way. They usually have a pretty simple plot, sometimes strange plot, sometimes a plot that strange, that you wouldn't even consider making a movie with that plot, for example Ratatouille. A rat that wants to be a cook? Really? Or Finding Nemo. A fish loses his son and goes after him. That sounds incredibly boring. BUT the Pixar movies always contain something so artistically amazing, that... I can't explain xD I simply can't, sorry.
Pixar doesnt have to use a cool dragon who look like a cat to do great movies. they use a old man instead and the movie is much better ! (sorry bad english shitty education ^^ )
I really love Michael Giacchino's music. It's very boisterous and energetic one moment but its also very sweet and sensitive sounding. Like this piece. Michael Giacchino is an amazing composer. I'm glad he was chosen to do the music for Ratatouille.
Only recently have I started to pay attention to the soundtracks of famous animated films like Ratatouille. I was just a little boy when I first saw these... I'll have to rewatch all of them soon :)
I remember sitting directly underneath the Eiffel Tower, having just got done climbing it, resting my legs and feet. I was waiting for my group and decided to play this song. As I played it, I thought of how grateful I was to be given the opportunity to go by my parents. The I looked up, and watched the tower start to sparkle, not knowing that it did that. Magical!
Right about the time that my wife and I got married, we went together with friends to see this movie. Little did I know at the time, how much I would appreciate it many years later. Definitely one of my favorite Disney movies, and my wife and I have also shared a trip to Paris together! There's no stronger force in our lives than the profound feeling of love.
I was bored so I learned how to make bread, and I made my very first loaf, I tasted it with this on the background and oh my I nearly ended on tears of how damn good that bread was lol
i loved ratatouille because it goes beyond just an animation movie, ratatouille is HOPE for those who are expected to be something just because society wants them to be, RATATOUILLE will give that hidden energy in you that will make you dream again and maybe you will feel like a child once again
If I were to go to Paris one day, I would sit outside my windowsill of whatever tall building I booked, and would play this song as the sun sets over the city, resulting in the bloom of a beautiful, serene, dark flower called night. Just thinking about it, just playing it out in my mind as I imagine it to be melts my heart due to its beauty and grace. Honestly, I would also prefer to see the sight for myself alone, as I could take in so much more alone. No romance, no partner, nothing. Just me, the sunset/night and this song. This song of utter beauty, this song that brings so much atmosphere, and this song that just purely captures what Paris was made of. Sometimes, the famous depiction of "the city of love" doesn't mean you have to have a partner there to experience it all. Sometimes, you can get enjoyment of experiencing the beautiful life yourself. I've been to a place where I spent most of my time alone soaking in the jaw-breaking sunrise and scenery and it felt just as great as if you were there with a loved one. Sometimes "love" just means the things you feel while watching it, loving every minute of it and capturing its beauty in your mind, heart, soul and camera. I could only imagine. Only dream. But maybe one day, it'll be real and I'll be able to go there to see for myself the true beauty you could only experience in movies. Maybe it'll also not be of my expectations, but it's still worth a try...
I used to watch this movie so many times as a kid. I must have watched it over a 100 times. I can most likely say word for word, and as i listen to this brilliant piece, i realize that life will always have its golden moments, those moments that make you say i love life.
This song always reminds me of the many times I visited Paris and Disneyland Paris. I love hanging around at the Tuilleries and Champs Élyssées. Hoping to go there again soon!
Yessir Ratatouille ( and Pixar movies in general) changed my life and I still watch it to this day. They have a lot of amazing lessons that I still hold close to my heart
Ratatouille rules!!! The whole, i mean the whole soundtrack is beautiful and no wonder why it got the nod for Best Original Score at Oscars. It simply amazing!!!
So hard to believe I am this old, Lol 21 Already... Soon enough in my 30s, My Childhood swooped me up so fast and Now I'm here. This Song & Movie was my Inspiration to be Chef... Who I really Am/Want to be But things of course change as they all do. I wish as we all do let's take a step back to our childhood again. For those who are reading this, I hope you have a wonderful day or night! Either or & Keep on Dreaming That one day when we are all alone & Old we will have the chance to join our parents once again.
"In the past, I have made no secret of my disdain for Chef Gusteau's famous motto, "Anyone can cook." But I realize, only now do I truly understand what he meant. Not everyone can become a great artist; but a great artist *can* come from *anywhere*."
I honestly cannot believe the lack of respect that ratatouille receives from the mainstream media. This is a CLASSIC film. I hope to one day share it with my children and my children's children. And once they discover how to live forever, I hope to share it with my children's children's children. This is a coming of age film that cannot be missed. This glorious bildungsroman is a testament to how far cinema has come and a promise of how far it can go. This one's for you Remy, Ego, and Emil + the rat boys. (Not you Linguini, you overgrown noodle)
I recommend writing an emotional love letter while listening to this song on repeat. I promise you that you will make the best love letter of your life.
Love this song, it will always be in the hearts of the people who love to cook, because remember; If you focus on what you left behind you will never see what lies ahead!
In my Freshmen year of high school I was kind of an outcast, I didnt talk to a lot of people, yknow?. There was this stunning girl named Marissa, yes with two "s's", that I first saw on picture day. She was alone, against the wall waiting, just like me. As soon as I noticed her she looked into my soul and I looked away. To me, she looked like Colette, except waaay better than some cartoon person (so I called her Ratatuille).Long story short, we became friends and started an amazing relationship that would last three and a half years. She had such a crazy imagination that I absolutely adored, and we would always re-watch old movies from our childhoods. We were so different yet so alike, but after time... we grew apart and eventually became apart. If you see this Marissa, just know that I miss you and hope you're okay.
This gives me a deja vu, of a memory i've never had? It reminds me of being somewhere in a small house, somewhere with italian foods... I dont know why. Maybe.. My past life?

by far the most underrated Pixar film; it's also my favorite, partly because of the phenomenal soundtrack
Go to Disneyland Paris; there is the attraction! It's one o f the best at Disneyland.
underrated? it won an Oscar..
+Anne Lee I think she means among the fans. Its definitely not brought up enough when it comes to classic Pixar movies.
True, Ratatouille is too underrated just as Up is overrated. Ratatouille is much better than Up in my opinion
I agree it is terribly underrated! It has an amazing soundtrack and story and lesson with it! One if the reasons why I take french as a foreign language too!
I swear, this movie has the power to make me hungry every time I watch it.
Catherine Dixon same
LOL

dude anyone can do it, they're just going to Paris. A lot of people travel to Paris.
there are also plenty of boat tours on le seine, and they don't prohibit phones.
