Dnic72 The Chicago Public schools have 4 of the top 10 teams in the country? Oh wait they don't. Check the schedules of Mater Dei, Sierra Canyon, Bishop Montgomery, and Chino Hills. They smack teams from all over the county. Sierra Canyon has Marvin Bagley who is the #1 junior in the country.
Here is Sierra Canyon's Schedule. Looks like they have wins over Oak Hill Academy, Gonzaga (DC), Memphis East, Findlay Prep, and La Lumiere. Their only losses where to Nathan Hale (Michael Porter Jr) and other California Schools.

Every coach knows going into the game what Chino Hills is going to do. They try and sometimes succeed at stopping it, but obviously its been pretty damn successful over the last 3 years. They won a national championship cherry picking basically and everybody they played against knew it was coming.

Bishop Montgomery had better players than Chino Hill. Ethan Thompson and David Singleton are flat out studs. Liangelo is better than Lamelo but neither of them are in the same class as Lonzo.
Bishop Montgomery is the #1 ranked team in California and had 5 starters come back this year. They beat 3 top 10 teams in the county including Chino Hills to get to the State Championship. Bishop deserves a ton of credit.

The game was tied until like the final two minutes. You gotta give credit where credit is due. Bishop beat Sierra Canyon and Mater Dei as well. Ain't nobody harping on Marvin Bagley losing because he doesn't have a loud mouth father like the Ball Bros do.
As an NBA GM you have to wonder whether or not Lavar will be a distraction to the team. He cant hold his tongue, what if he talks trash about lonzos nba teammates or the coaching staff etc. Lavar has been given a voice in basketball and you cant trust it
That’s precisely what happened with Lonzo in LA. In the end talent wins the day even if you have a loud mouth dad because the league easily sees all of it for what it is and don’t hold it against the sons for the actions of dad. In the end you just gotta ignore him and move along because bending to his desires will never accomplish a thing because what he wants will always be evolving and he will always be jabbering about this or that. Two of the sons were lottery picks and the one that didn’t have the talent of the other two has had time in the G League. So even with the circus of Lavar they’ve seen a great deal of success overall

It's crazy how 3 basketball prodigies and their father are on TV and talked about more than actual pros. I hear kids at school yelling "Melo" or "Lonzo" when they shoot. They are changing the game right before our eyes.

The problem with the Chino Hills - Bishop Montgomery final was that Chino ultimately got exposed for their ineffective defensive play. Bishop Montgomery played harder at both ends of the court. The Ball brothers weren't horrible in this game. In fact LaMelo actually chucked up less threes than normal. Their offense wasn't the issue - the issue was the Ball brothers - and the entire Chino Hills team - has never had to learn how to play defense. They win because they boat-race everyone. But they couldn't boat-race Bishop Montgomery (or Mater Dei either). Those teams just played harder at both ends of the court.

Out of Bounds...these guys are sportswriters but clearly don't act like they've been around sports...have you seen how parents act towards coaches and at these games?? Lavar is just saying what is obvious...the kids run the team and there is little structure.
A King In My Own Mind What's obvious here is that Lavar isn't teaching his kids anymore how and when to take the blame. He's so caught up in his "my kids are the best in the world" act I think he dropped any lessons about mistakes in life that he was supposed to teach his kids. Maybe Lonzo can accept a loss if it was his fault and explain that to his dad for not helping but the younger guys have to at least learn the same things. Also with the amount of mics and cameras on lavar, a complaint like that can end a good coach's, referee, or players career just because he thinks opposite of what they do

Chino Hill's coach from this season isn't even the same coach from last year, that went 35-0. That dude was an Asian guy, not Gilling, and he's now coaching Mater Dei, who defeated Chino Hills earlier this year. It's partly on coaching and on the players. The Chino Hills team literally had no plays, runs a soft press the whole game that ends in 4 v 5 with either Gelo or Melo cherrypicking, and they let the Ball brothers jack the ball and not utilize their other players. It isn't sustainable and when an equally talented team plays them they don't really adjust and that's why they lost to Oak Hill, Mater Dei, and this last game

Lavar was out of turn to say this, but their coach still does not seem that efficient. A coach is required to guide and make adjustments for their team and he never appeared to do that. No disrepect, but at the end of the Oak Hill game, the coach did not do anything while his team was forcing low percentage shots in crunch time. This doesn't excuse that lamelo and liangelo made poor choices in their games but they are still high schoolers who need guidance. Now, I don't know if Lavar told the coach that he couldn't critique his sons, but from my perspective, he looked more like a hype man then a coach on the sidelines.
