He's literally put HIMSELF in the limelight making people notice him and people like his style and how he does things. Regardless of what you think, it is a fact that he (and of course tina) created 3 talented boys and all 3 are on a track to the NBA. The statistical probability of the happening is close to none yet he has done it, meaning he is doing things right.

Lamelo is now a multi-millionaire at 19. It means in 3 years the work and traveling that Lavar and Tina invested for their youngest gave them multiple return and guaranteed a super economically comfortable life for the family on both sides and the boys' future firmly secured. It's an awesome parenting story but a tough act to follow.
No issue with the home schooling, but if his dad, who is basically a cheerleader, remains his only coach, his game will suffer. The kid is already a ball hog, and continuing that will do nothing for his NBA hopes. He's not a freak athlete so he really needs all the good coaching he can get.

It was a wild move to see Lavar pull his 16 year old son out of high school to home school him and send him overseas to play pro ball. That was genuinely a wild move and nobody changed their tune much until his time in Australia in 2019. It’s dope it worked out for him but the way it turned out doesn’t change how crazy it was to have done at the time. But with all the quirks Lavar didn’t do half bad. Two sons were lottery picks and Gelo who wasn’t at their level still got some time in the G league.

Melo needs to learn to play as a teammate, that's the only way he'll succeed in the NBA. LaVar is teaching his son that it should always be all about him. What if LaMelo falls tomorrow and breaks both legs and never walks again? You think LaVar's decision to pull him from high school, give him a signature shoe that will make it difficult for him to go to college, and have him play basketball all day with no real academics will come off as a wise move? There's more to life than basketball, and there's more to life than constantly being in the spotlight. LaVar Ball's expectations for his kids fly in the face of rationality and maturity.

This shouldn't be a topic of discussion. Studies show that homeschooling is more effective than public school anyway, so if you're saying "he should focus on school" your argument is invalid. I went to a public high school at first and was homeschooled my last 2 years. You don't realize how much down time you have at school. All the curriculum you learn during the entire day can really be taught in about 2-3 hours. The only thing you miss at home is the social aspect. So this is great for Lamelo, he can do the same amount of schoolwork in less time. And when he's done he's right there to train.
