Jade L Well they said she was only a few months away from her degree. So this has been her life for almost 4 years.. It probably isn't as exciting to her now as it was during her freshman year
So many comments 'History LOL' well here in the UK History is considered one of the most prestigious degrees. Many history grads go on to become lawyers, bankers etc This girl has the right idea, study something you enjoy. Why would you choose to study something you hate so you can get a job you hate? Is $$$ really that important. Such wack logic
Myiphone5 Your don't need a law degree to become a lawyer in the UK. Any degree is fine but to be competitive you'd ideally have a degree in something respectable like History as mentioned by OP
Law generally isn't a major option in undergrad that's what uh..... law school.... is for. Hence why people with a physics degree can become.... uh... lawyers
luticia yeah, I don't understand how you can be a "full-time student" (putting that in quotes because two hours worth of class every day is absolutely ridiculous) and only spend that little time in class. Where I'm from college classes start anywhere from 8 to 9 am and if you're doing a full time course you'll be in college until 5 at least (some classes will run until 8 pm but on those days you don't usually start until 11 or 12).
Amelie Roll Same here. Exactly the same. At least if you study something "serious". But there are also courses e.g. sociology *lool* that are more like a hobby which you do besides to something major in your life. *lool* In this case, you've got to go to university only twice a week and only for some couples of hours. This is such a joke. My sis studied that. She passed EVEN with major psychic problems, spending the whole days in bed and doing nothing besides opening a book the evening right before the exam. My studies were like yours. Daily, mostly 8 am to 6 and sometimes like yours also till 8 pm. But this is sick, too, because you night isn't over. There's still some work for uni that you've got to do.
many people think that students pay hundreds of thousands to go to top schools when in reality one of the perks of going to a top school is that if you actually make it in, they are GREAT at paying for your tuition (and more) especially if you come from a low income household. lol not everyone is dropping 100k a year to go to an ivy league.
Thank you for sharing Claire's story. It's really cool to see how unique other colleges and universities are. I love the architecture, and the campus is beautiful.
She ends up going to Yale even though Harvard was always her dream! She got into Yale, Harvard, and Princeton but chose Yale because her grandpa went there and it was closer to home.
It's actually so refreshing to not hear her constantly say "like".. at this point everyone sounds extremely illiterate, alway saying like between every word
"Illiterate" means that you can't read. With you not knowing that, you shouldn't act above anyone else, for using a filler word. It says nothing about their intelligence. It could be a habit, or out of nervousness, like with me.
It blows my mind how unbelievably expensive US universities are. I'm attending one of the top universities in Europe (Germany) and my tuition is less than 300 euros per year. I would kill myself if I was American lol
Polina van Zessen Well, 2000 is still very cheap compared to like 20 000 - 30 000 per year in the US lol. Education is actually free in most universities in Germany.
Kubera Yes. As far as I know, universities are free in Scotland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland. At least for EU students. Not sure about international students.
I would absolutely love to attend Yale, watching this video made me fall in love with it. The architecture and the general vibes that are given off really appeal to me. Unfortunately, I am a junior in high school and the past 3 years of my high school career were wasted by focusing too much on marching band and getting mediocre grades.
It's impressive to see these students push themselves to meet the standards of an ivy league school BUT... Whatever jobs they get after college, I could get the same one attending a normal university.
You clearly don't work a "real job" after college. 99% of companies dont give a fuck where you went to school or about your high gpa. Experience is all they care about. Stop talking about things you have zero experience with.
Im Sabina and I am 11. This video really inspired me to work hard and go to this exquisite college. I battle anxiety and depression so making new friends might help me break out of my shell. I am desperate to get accepted into this college.
As an ordinary Dutch student attending university, I don't understand a single thing about these universities. This girl is talking about separate colleges, but it's a university...?! I'm so confused... 🙈
ArtemisDD there are different schools inside the university for the majors. There's a history school and a business school Etc. she said college but you can just think school.
That's incorrect; residential colleges at Yale are kind of like Hogwarts houses. You're randomly sorted into one of them, and you're associated with that 'college' for the rest of your 4 years. It's not common in the US; Oxford has something similar.
citlali villegas Idk how they pick cause something happened like that to someone I know, he had a 4.6 GPA was a basketball player and went to different countries to help those in need and he got rejected.

I think they might look at one factor that they want everyone to have in common with each incoming class or something? They need some selective thing to pick a few thousand out of tens of thousands, and it's hard when everyone is just as equally amazing and skilled.
I literally cannot believe the number of people freaking out about how expensive the Ivy League is. People: Unless your parents are millionaires, YOU DO NOT PAY ANYTHING EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE TO THE STICKER PRICE. The people who have money do, and they subsidize the people who don't. (Not to mention, these universities have endowments equal to the annual GDP of many small countries, and that fills in the gaps.) If your parents have legitimately middle-class incomes, it's almost always a free ride, or close to it. European universities might be cheaper on paper...but in reality, for people without trust funds, they're just not. At all. (Also, if you're so hung up on the cost, these graduates make more money over their lifetimes than European or state school grads, so it's even better bargain than a straight tuition comparison would suggest. But money isn't everything. If you're going for the best education for your money, point blank, this would be it. And no, I didn't go to an Ivy League school. I'm just not stupid enough to look at the listed tuition and assume "OMG that must be what everyone pays!!!1!1")
Bills for the next 15 years but good for you. Unless you have rich parents, of course. Which is probably more than half of Ivy League students. Wish I had the money to go to a good school.
Ivy League schools like Yale have financial aid so any student admitted is given funding based on the parent's income to be able to afford it. It is a myth that you need rich parents to afford it because they meet all demonstrated financial need for families.
The stupid thing is not every smart person gets a scholarship. And so they end up going to community college, which is fine. They won't make as much money as an Ivy League graduate would, then they can't afford to send there children to a good school. And the cycle goes on and on. Education should be free.
Your day is so unfilled, I wake up at 5:45 and I go out to rowing practice from 6:45 to 9:20 and then I have school from 13:15 to 20:00 and then I go home, I work as a cook in culinary school on wednesdays and I go help out for weddings and stuff on saturdays...I'm 16
For me, the issue isn't that she is majoring in history, it's that I find it weird that somebody would choose to pay $200,000 to end up with a history degree. I don't know which state she's from, but if she were from a place like Wisconsin, North Carolina or Texas, she could get the exactly same thing for around $40,000. Yale is the place to go for a graduate degree since lots of companies and law firms will only hire students who possess JDs and MBAs from a top 15 grad school.
I get that it's an Ivy League university, with great quality of studies and all. However, it's ridiculous the amount of money that they have to pay. Not only in this one, but in general, in all their good universities. In my opinion, good education should be free for all people to attend, or at least affordable, without having to take loans to pay for it. I was a big fan of the "college" tradition, growing up, maybe because I had watched all those films. At the end, though, I feel I was lucky that I was born in a European country. Great universities with less money.
Tania Pitsal You haven't done your research. Ivy Leagues/MIT/Stanford/a few others are FREE if you're poor and almost free/substantially subsidised for the middle class, depending on your income. Only the rich pay full price. This makes Harvard/Yale/etc cheaper than Oxford/Cambridge for most people

Higher education is about the teachers capable of the job higher education is about the students wanting, Avery old saying when the student is willing the professor will appear.
Is it common to live on campus at Yale more than freshman year? I go to a state college and it's rare for anyone above sophomore level to live on campus.

Two hours of classes? How? Is that standard?
Maša Vilar Stupica My mind was blown...
Maša Vilar Stupica she's a senior. Most of the bulk of her classes are done and she's only fulfilling her major specific credits.
