The formula for the Chinese plants seems to be: Plant can do A, but has a chance to do B. As it levels up, the chances for B increase, and at level 5, B is enhanced or it gets C, effectively turning it into an unstoppable zombie killing machine.
I will never take pvz international leveling for granted anymore. At least those kept the plant consistent on what it did. This feels like it adds way to much for a plants and this makes it confusing on what any plant is supposed to do.

Fishhook grass honestly sounds super fun imo. I feel like it would be better balanced if the fish hook did very weak damage and the damage from the zombies depends on its toughness so bucketheads would deal more damage than basics
The loud sound effects was definitely one of the reasons I almost never played with sound on. Plants and zombies in the Chinese version were/are either really quiet for me or so loud that your ears would hurt after a couple minutes with seemingly little in-between.
I kind of dig Fishhook Grass' ability. It has knockback, can work around its recharge by stunning at working from long-range, and is kinda like Fisherman Zombie the plant. Mangosteen doesn't seem cohesive at all, but tigerstool and gardener grass are funny, and sound like cool concepts if nothing else.
(I’m judging all of these on their Level 1 versions BTW) Hammer Flower looks like a really good plant, but if it was in the International Version, I don’t really see myself using it much. That’s mainly because outside of Celery Stalker (And to an extent Wasabi Whip), I’ve never really cared about the melee plants that much. Also it’s design is kinda boring (Nothing about it screams “Flower”, he looks more like a beanstalk to me). Fishhook Grass, meanwhile, is a melee plant I vibe with a lot. Has a fun gimmick and I see it being pretty helpful against high HP zombies like Gargs. Mangosteen is a plant I really like on paper, seeing as it’s basically what I wanted Phat Beet to be (A high DPS 3x3 AOE Plant ala Gloom-shroom from PVZ 1). But in execution… yeesh, that 30 second cooldown is a major turn off. I get it’s there to prevent it from being even more broken than PVZ 1 Gloom-sheoom, but I feel like there were better ways to handicap it (Like turning down its damage a bit or completely dropping the stun gimmick). Tigerstool has a fun design and animations, but everything about it just screams “Snapdragon but worse”. Lastly there’s Gardener Grass, and tbh I don’t really know if it’s good or not. That being said it just looks fun to use. The animation of it stunning zombies looks really goofy and I’d see myself running it just for the fun of it.
I would like it noted that I think Tigerstool's level 5 ability, although exceedingly rare, is broken. "10% of the target's max health each second, for 10 seconds" So if this funny little mushroom were to poison a zombie, it's name is already written on a gravestone they are not raising out of.

Tigerstool probably was made with stacking them next to eachother in mind, essentially making rows and columns of minor stalling and aoe damage in multiple different lanes. So honestly, not bad. Everything looks a lot different until you stack a bunch of them.
