I’m having a horrible time trying to record a podcast on OBS thru the rodecaster pro 2. I need individual tracks for each of my mics and it just won’t do it.
Hey there, while the RØDECaster Pro II does output audio in a multitrack format, different DAWs use this multitrack output in different ways. We have walkthroughs for recording in multitrack in various different DAWs here: rode.com/en/user-guides/rodecaster-pro-ii/recording-and-exporting-audio
When I’m in garageband I only have individual inputs to choose from and all of yours are a range. For example, for smart pads you choose inputs 9-10. I would to choose either input 9 or input 10. Does this mean I have to create 2 tracks (both for smart pads and make the first track input 9, and the second track input 10)? What would happen if I just made one track and it was input 9? Thanks for your help!
Hey there @JoshMG, it seems like garageband is making you select between individual tracks, and the SMART Pads on the RØDECaster are processed as stereo, so they have a left and right track. So if you can configure Garageband to take a separate input on left and right channels, you could make the left track "9" and the right track "10". Otherwise, if all your SMART Pads are mono audio files, then you could just select either track as your input and would make no difference.
I am using Audition 2023 and followed the guide for it exactly. When I arm a track by clicking on the R and then hit record....it records the track fine but the playback is very low and full of scratching and popping noise which makes the tracks unusable. I am using 4 Podmics on each of the combo channels. Any ideas?
Hey there- this sounds like a very frustrating issue! Make sure that you have the new ASIO driver, which was released in June 2023. To install it, you will have to uninstall the old ASIO driver before installing the new one. You can find the new one here: update.rode.com/rodecaster_asio/RODECasterASIO.zip If your issue persists, we'd recommend chatting to our friendly support team here: rode.com/en/support/contact
Hey there, if a channel or SMART pad doesn't have a function/input assigned to it, it will default to grey which explain some of the lights appearing off. There are several reasons why you might be running into distortions - we'd suggest reaching out to our Service Team and they will be able to help you get to the bottom of it: rode.com/contact :)
Hi! Why is reverberation played in monophonic mode on this device? Can we expect this issue to be fixed in the next firmware of the RØDECaster Pro II? Can this built-in reverb produce a natural surround stereo signal, as in all other mixing consoles from any other manufacturer over the past 50 years?
@@rodemic Thanks for the quick response! I would like to be understood correctly. I liked the whole device and all its functions. And only the reverb was very surprised.) It seemed to me that this would not happen in the 21st century.) All reverbs must be stereo at the default output. I really hope that this can be fixed.
Can you guys please create a PDF for FL Studio Users. We Love the Rode Brand & would like for some of your support please. im pretty sure the Fl Studio Community would greatly Appreciate it..
Hey there @MonkeyGameChannel, one of the biggest reasons people experience headphone noise is because of they haven't tweaked their gain levels effectively throughout their signal chain. 1) not everyone uses a Mac and you should also make windows guides. 2.) I’m a streamer and musician who purchased the RCP2 and I’m massively let down by the lack of per application audio routing support. 3) if I’m missing a way to actually do this without running yet another program to route my audio, then please let me know. Switching back to Goxlr and my scarlet pending what happens here.
Why cant the Rodecaster just be able to give you the files separately in the end? its so annoying that there needs to be another process to get something that should be standard
There doesn't seem to be a way to get the recording to an SD card to name the file differently with more than one recording. For example, If I make 2 or 3 recordings, the RCP2 will put the files in separate folders, but name the files "stereomix.wav" or something close to that. the problem is, when I bring the files into my software to edit it wants to see different file names... Can this be changed?
Will usb 2 ever support multitrack? I currently use USB 2 for streaming on my second PC while USB 1 is for my primary gaming Pc. My ideal scenario would be having the option to record with multitrack using usb 2 when I am not streaming but it would be a hassle to move USBs back and forth between the computers. I wouldn’t mind using usb 2 for my primary PC but I assume I would lose the ability for the faders controlling my chat, game volume etc. any suggestions?
Hey @adrianmadrigal6805, when the virtual channels update is released, this will be over the USB1 connection. USB2 will likely remain unchanged. We'd recommend using USB2 for your gaming pc and USB1 for your streaming PC.
@@rodemic my main concern is having control over my chat audio. If I use usb 1 for my streaming/recording pc doesn't that mean I would have to use discord on the second pc as well to communicate? I would like to be able to game on my primary PC and still be able to use discord on it. I'm just confused now on how to get everything set up right. I dont want to have to turn on both PCs just to use discord on the second PC if that makes any sense, any advice?
Marvellous, but, can this be done in reverse Julian ? recording say 4 tracks from a daw to 4 separate tracks on the RODEcaster sd card ? and if so, when played back on the RODEcaster from the sd card, will it playback on 4 separate tracks with the use of a fader on each track for mixing on the fly ? will this also work with the RODEcaster pro 1? Help appreciated.
Hey there, that sort of use isn't supported by the RØDECaster PRO II. Of course, there are ways to feed different prerecorded audio tracks into the unit, and mix them live, so it's certainly possible, but we don't have any tutorials about doing this.

I'd still like to know why I record in Multitrack and the files I export from Rode Central, to my computer than into Logic Pro are so low in volume? My levels are bouncing around -15 to -12db all sounds great, levels are at unity marker on mixer, and yes I do have the Post Fader on, all is good. I would like to know why and also, is this a normal workflow for most when recording in multitrack? Adding so much gain in the DAW, not understanding why such a beast of a unit would require me to do this, but also just why?

Hey there, good question and we hear that there are users who are looking to mix multiple programs on multiple computers. Although we are currently creating the ability to add extra audio channels over USB1, this isn't possible for USB2. Currently, our recommendation would be for users to just have their second USB source to be only for one audio source such as their game, and for all of their applications to be on their other USB source. !Very important thing that I haven't seen in manuals, FAQ or reddit.! For Win 10 and Win 11 Only a support ticket did help me out how to fix this. If you done everything like here or read on the manual and your software (Adobe Audition) do see the driver but writes an Error code and says that the ASIO Caster is not working while your Rode Central clearly sees the stable connection with you Pro 2 Then: 1. Delete official Rode Asio Driver 2. Restart just in case 3. Launch Rode Asio installer and pay attention on default folder path: C:\Program Files (x86)\RODE Microphones\RODECaster ASIO The O in RODE will be not a common one, but a symbol with crossed O (RODE marketing thing), change this on common english O and it's done! All is working perfect now! I have no idea why RODE can't fix this little but important thing in remaking their installer or even mention about this in manual or FAQ section.
Thanks for your suggestion, we aim to provide detailed information for users with many different setups in our support documentation so we'll pass this on to them!

USB multitrack recording does not work on the Rode ProCaster 2. Windows and all applications always show a “device access denied” error. I have checked various tutorials and nothing helps. hi we would like to use this for our podcast but it needs to be able to allocate different vfx to each channel individually and directly rather than the touch pads. Because if we want to add different continuous vfx to each channel simultaneously it isn't possible.
I download the Asio driver to use the rode caster pro 2 in reaper and the software does not recognize the channels of the rode caster pro 2 ... help someone?

We typically use XLR cables with high quality Neutrik connectors, and in this case use the XLR-ID accessories for easy identification of inputs.
Can we record multitracks with just a micro sD card ?
Yes you can! Just head to the settings menu > outputs > multitrack
@@rodemicthey were talking about OBS, Not the use of a DAW.
You can find the new one here: update.rode.com/rodecaster_asio/RODECasterASIO.zip

My Rode lights are not working and sound is choppy with some functions not working...i don't know if I have extended warranty

Hi! Why is reverberation played in monophonic mode on this device? Can we expect this issue to be fixed in the next firmware of the RØDECaster Pro II? Can this built-in reverb produce a natural surround stereo signal, as in all other mixing consoles from any other manufacturer over the past 50 years?
Hey there @NIKTONvideo, sorry to hear you're disappointed with the reverb feature on the RØDECaster Pro II. We've passed your feedback onto the team.
@@rodemic Thanks for the quick response! I would like to be understood correctly. I liked the whole device and all its functions. And only the reverb was very surprised.) why are the headphones noisy?
Hey there @MonkeyGameChannel, one of the biggest reasons people experience headphone noise is because of they haven't tweaked their gain levels effectively throughout their signal chain. For more info we'd recommend checking out our user guide and chatting to our friendly support team here: rode.com/contact
does this work for the rode caster pro 1?
it’s the same for the RCP 1
1) not everyone uses a Mac and you should also make windows guides.
2.) I’m a streamer and musician who purchased the RCP2 and I’m massively let down by the lack of per application audio routing support.
3) if I’m missing a way to actually do this without running yet another program to route my audio, then please let me know. Switching back to Goxlr and my scarlet pending what happens here.
Why cant the Rodecaster just be able to give you the files separately in the end? its so annoying that there needs to be another process to get something that should be standard
It can. You just select record to multitrack. It will automatically record each input to separate track on SD card
*Is it possible to do multitrack recording to daw with rodecaster pro original??*
Yes it is, you can learn more here: rode.com/en/user-guides/rodecaster-pro/recording-to-a-computer-via-usb
Does this device work plug and play with Linux?
There doesn't seem to be a way to get the recording to an SD card to name the file differently with more than one recording. For example, If I make 2 or 3 recordings, the RCP2 will put the files in separate folders, but name the files "stereomix.wav" or something close to that. the problem is, when I bring the files into my software to edit it wants to see different file names... Can this be changed?
Not at this time unfortunately.
Thanks for responding..@@rodemic

I dont want to have to turn on both PCs just to use discord on the second PC if that makes any sense, any advice?
why the rodecaster itself isn't able to multitrack record?
But it is. We'd recommend checking out our User Guide here: rode.com/en/user-guides/rodecaster-pro-ii/recording-and-exporting-audio
I bought RODECASTER PRO 2 and I have Logitech Z906 5.1 speakers and I don't know which type of cable to buy, I tried a few but without any results, or do I have to make some changes in RCP 2? thanks

Help! When I am monitoring my audio while recording on the rodecaster duo on to the SD card or computer, it sounds very bad like hollow and tinny, however the final recording sounds as it should sound, what should I do to get this to work as expected?
Hey there, this sounds like a difficult issue. Stereo Mix file is perfect, but the Mic 1, Mic 2 and Sound Pad tracks are extremely low. I have to add about 12db of gain in Logic Pro just to get it normal volume. I would like to know why and also, is this a normal workflow for most when recording in multitrack? Adding so much gain in the DAW, not understanding why such a beast of a unit would require me to do this, but also just why?

Any chance of support for the secondary usb, or more audio lines being added to that secondary USB?
Hey there, good question and we hear that there are users who are looking to mix multiple programs on multiple computers. Although we are currently creating the ability to add extra audio channels over USB1, this isn't possible for USB2.
Currently, our recommendation would be for users to just have their second USB source to be only for one audio source such as their game, and for all of their applications to be on their other USB source.

@@rodemic Awesome thank you!
!Very important thing that I haven't seen in manuals, FAQ or reddit.!
For Win 10 and Win 11
Only a support ticket did help me out how to fix this.
If you done everything like here or read on the manual and your software (Adobe Audition) do see the driver but writes an Error code and says that the ASIO Caster is not working while your Rode Central clearly sees the stable connection with you Pro 2
Then:
1. Delete official Rode Asio Driver
2. Restart just in case
3. Launch Rode Asio installer and pay attention on default folder path:
C:\Program Files (x86)\RODE Microphones\RODECaster ASIO
The O in RODE will be not a common one, but a symbol with crossed O (RODE marketing thing), change this on common english O and it's done!
