The premiere episode of Pearl Islands really does just feel so perfect to me. It's got just about everything you could want in a Survivor episode, and even with as insanely good as the rest of Pearl Islands as a whole is, it plays a big part in why I feel Pearl Islands is still absolute peak Survivor even now.
China is one I really consider to be really good. The main characters get a lot of focus (Todd, Courtney, James, Denise) and Chicken's "DAMN!!" is iconic.
For me is "Survivor: The Australian Outback" because of the five mile hike to their respective camps. And "Survivor: Guatemala" the return of Stephanie and Bobby Jon and the 20 mile hike to see if who gets the better camp.
When I was trying to get my friend into Survivor, Pearl Islands was the season I told him to start with and literally said what you did: if you don't care for the first episode, I'll drop it, because this show probably won't be for you. Less than one year and 44 seasons watched later, I can agree that Pearl Islands did its job lol.
@@aperson22222 Literally! He watched his first episode last November. He is currently re-watching all the seasons and he's up to Redemption Island. He might get through the whole series twice through at this rate! LOL
Like I said when you announced this video, I’ve always wanted to see more content about specific Survivor episodes, I hope more survivor TH-camrs do stuff like this
I remember quite clearly being introduced to Survivor by way of the _second_ episode of Borneo. It was good enough that I hung around through All Stars, then rapidly lost interest over the course of the next couple years, before coming back in time for Philippines, by which time technology was both more advanced and more user friendly and I could watch a show when it was most convenient. I wasn’t any good at programming VCRs, and given that most TV up to that point was highly episodic, I just accepted that I’d miss a week here and there. That’s what “Previously on“ segments were for. I eventually watched seasons 9-24 during the long hiatus, but even then saw no point in rewatching the first eight, since I’d followed them well enough back in the day. Finally I decided it might be fun to go on a nostalgia kick and binged the early years. That’s the first time I saw the Borneo premiere, and it was 2022.
The beginning of the premiere of Winners at War was amazing. Tons of the best players to ever be on the show cruising in on speed boats on a picture perfect Fijian day? Totally badass.
They were considering putting Candance in the Villains tribe and Pavartt in the Heroes tribe. Before they switched. Talk about doing curse correction in the proper way.
It honestly was my number six choice. Despite the season not being my favorite, the premiere really felt like the universe course correcting after the pandemic
@@IdoledOuthave to disagree, especially Jeff's cringey discourse about "come on in, guys", like you only had 43 mins to establish the cast and you're keeping this in...?
I’m surprised Philippines wasn’t on this list for reintroducing us to Skupin, Penner and Russel Swan, as well as Zane’s insane strategy of asking to be voted out when he didn’t want to be. Also, as much as certain fans hate Gabon, I feel like that premiers is iconic for introducing us to possibly the most chaotic and messy tribes in survivor history.
My favorite premiere is winner at war! Mostly because my mom didn’t know all the winners yet! So she was so beaming at finding out who all these people was and their was winners!
I would honestly put 41 on this list or give it an honourable due to the anticipation leading up to the live premiere after over a year without survivor. I know I remember the episode very vividly but that might just be me
That first premier is very controversial however since it is the start of a new era that fans either love or hate and let's not forget about the "Come on in guys" drama...
Haveneat watched the video quite yet (putting my guess in now,), but it might be recency bias, but I have to think 44's premiere is on here, if not close. The most iconic for me personally is Winners at War, though: really set the tone of the season.
Pearl Islands was my first season of Survivor. I had no idea at the time that I would be watching one of the best seasons in the show's history. Needless to say, I was hooked from day one, and haven't turned back since (other than to go back an catch up on seasons 1-6, of course!)
This was my exact experience! Watched every season live from Pearl Islands on out, and finally caught up on 1-6 over quarantine, but nothing has my heart like the intro of Sandra and Rupert
Me: damn... Cagayan, waw and hvv are all incredible television. What could possibly be #1? Luke: #1 is pearl islands Me: AHHHHH OF COURSE IT IS 😍😍😍😍😍🏴☠️
I would definitely drop Cagayan (I think people elevate that premiere because of Tony). It was a very mediocre episode until J’Tia went full on crazy. I would put David vs Goliath. DvG did a much better job of introducing characters and setting up storylines.
Survivor will always be inferior for the simple fact that competitors are eliminated solely on them not being liked by the group. There is no way to fight for their life to stay in, they just immediately go home. The Challenge will always be superior.
Bold of you to put the Vanuatu premier at every slot but that’s what I love about this channel
One thing aboit Idoled Out, he's gonna shade Candice in every video he can
I'm legally obligated to at this point
and any mention of Gary Hawkins, the humble landscaper tickles me 😂
And the most awkward proposal ever
Sandra being on 3 of them 👸🏽
Queen stays queen

Pearl islands ❤
Garrett’s self destruction contained an entire season of storyline in a 91 minute episode. What a saga.

China had an amazing premiere, especially after the disappointing Fiji season right before.
I really did expect it to see it here, but the 5 picked was also very good and iconic.
Survivor China if shot in HD, would be one of the coolest/beautiful premier episodes.
China and Micronesia landing one year short of HD is so sad.
@@YourPalJamieEllis There is something poetic about the first HD season being Gabon, the one that made Jeff want to quit the show
For me is "Survivor: The Australian Outback" because of the five mile hike to their respective camps. And "Survivor: Guatemala" the return of Stephanie and Bobby Jon and the 20 mile hike to see if who gets the better camp.
“no ifs, ands, or buts”
I see what you did there
The Heroes v Villains premier was epic and so was David v Goliath
You only managed one dig at Candace in this one but you made a meal of it imo 😂
Honorable mention to Survivor 44. Three medical visits, Bruce DQ, messy tribal, first successful shot in the dark
9 most heroic and candice 😭😭
"...and Candice" 😂😂
I think my personal Top 2 premiers are Pearl Islands and Heroes vs Villains

Honestly 44 is a great one
give it time and I think it’ll become iconic, it’s a bit too fresh atm

The premiere of redemption island is an underrated premiere
The season is awful, but the premiere is amazing.
I’m glad you recognized Morgans icon status. The non conceited challenge beast.

Omg let Candice BREATHE! 😂
No because she denied Billy of their love for each other.
Cambodia's pre-selection into the premier I would say, is #6. We have returnees with storylines and survivor redoes it's 1st challenge.
*Survivor Gabon should be #1:* ''Who are we and what are we doing here exactly??''
Do you want to see the elephant dung?
great work
Great picks with so many to choose from!! ❤❤
We all know what the #1 premier is 😂 edit: this man never misses
You should do a video about applicants vs recruits
“9 most heroic & Candace” bro I’m out💀
They were considering putting Candance in the Villains tribe and Pavartt in the Heroes tribe. Before they switched. Talk about doing curse correction in the proper way.
Winners at war premiere is so traumatizing. That first boot is the worst non problematic moment in survivor history
Pearl Islands and Heroes vs villains are defo my favourites
All Stars, Heroes v Villains, Winners at War stand out to me. Borneo not as much, but it kicked off the entire show
I’ve always loved the 41 premiere just because it was fresh and the first season after Covid. The heroes vs villains and Philippines ones are good
It honestly was my number six choice. Despite the season not being my favorite, the premiere really felt like the universe course correcting after the pandemic

cambodia definitely must be an honourable mention
I'm of the opinion that Pearl Islands is overrated...but that premiere is incredible
My favourite theme song ever for Survivor is Pearl Islands, Australian Outback, Vanuatu, Ghost Island, HHH, Cambodia and Kaoh Rong
I really can’t believe my generation of Survivor fans is called the Netflix Generation. I’m grateful they had Cagayan on their service tho.
I got hooked when netflix had micronesia and david v. goliath

I felt that season 40 Winners at War was one of the most disappointing seasons in the show's history and it did not live up to expectations.
I would bump Cagayan for China
Second Chances will be it for me. it was my HvV.
