    Part 1: Cockpit Setup
    In this tutorial series, we cover all the basic steps required to fly the default Airbus A320 from A to B in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. Whilst the series is aimed at beginners and people new to the A320, it still aims to follow real-world Airbus procedures where possible.
    In Part 1, we cover the cockpit setup. We run through all the necessary steps to get the aircraft ready for startup and pushback.
    Please note this video and all its contents / materials, is for entertainment / simulation purposes only.

    I'm an A319/A320/A321 Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. I finally got the courage to buy stuff like joystick and control levers for airbus to try and get the experience of flying it in MSFS. I have done multiple Flight engineer duties and I feel like I want to also experience what it feels like to be on the Left Seat. I would say thank for making this series. I will follow your guide. As a trained and experienced Engineer of A320, I would say 95 percent of the things that is happening in you video are real and true compared to real life. I would say that it's closest to the real thing when preparing the cockpit. I can see small details but it doesn't really matter. Great job!

    4 weeks into the Sim and really struggling. Can do the basics, but need direction. None of this 'what's up' rubbish works. I have seen so many using the a320. looked and found you. From 4 years ago. Everything is relevant. Able to follow every demonstration. Good, lucid directions. Conversation clear and slow enough to learn from. Watched the video a second time and made notes. Tried it myself just using the notes. All done. Lesson 2 awaits. Thank you. Should I move to the Neo 2 or stay in the basic?

    Hi! I wanted to take a moment to express how much I've been enjoying your tutorial videos on Microsoft Flight Simulator, especially the ones covering A320 procedures. I've watched them three times already, and they've been incredibly helpful in understanding the ins and outs of flying the A320. Your explanations are clear, and I appreciate the effort you put into making the content beginner-friendly. I have a quick favor to ask. Every time I fire up my Xbox Series X to play MSFS, I find myself struggling to remember the sequence of procedures. I was wondering if you happen to have a step-by-step guide written somewhere on the web that us beginners could print and follow. It would be immensely helpful for reinforcing the procedures and making the learning process smoother. Your guidance has been invaluable, and I believe having a written reference would be a fantastic complement to your video tutorials. If you could point me in the right direction or share any resources you might have, I would highly appreciate it. Looking forward to more of your amazing content, and thank you again for being such a great resource for the MSFS community!

There are definitely others that do though so, perhaps you will find their work useful. I haven’t tried them myself but, Jonathan Beckett offers up a number of start-up guides; they’re all free, though you will need to provide an email address: ko-fi.com/s/d97fc70095

    This is really helpful. Unfortunately there seem to be some bugs. Adding to a flight plan doesn’t update the screen on the MCDU, it does add it but you can’t see it. Text colouring is somewhat different to what you show. Also the airways aren’t in the database, do they change often? I’m guessing the airways you put on screen don’t exist any more? The waypoints themselves do.

    Why is there no checklist (to talk of) for the standard A320 ? Its just very short, and extremely basic.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi RYMD,
      The real-world checklist is also like that - very condensed and only covering the safety-critical items. If you want an expanded list of procedures, you should be able to find them somewhere online. Older Airbus addon manuals are good (PSS’ manual for example), some virtual airlines also provide very helpful documents. Of course, the real world FCOM also covers the full setup however, that might be in a bit more depth than you’re looking for.
      I hope that helps a little. Cheers : )

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Darmok, my absolute pleasure!
      I have tried the Aerofly A320 and generally speaking, the aircraft has more fidelity than its MSFS counterpart. There is a bit more systems depth on the Aerofly 320 and the autoflight system is more robust (from what I recall). That being said, the Aerofly A320 does have its weaknesses (eg no fuel burn modelled and flight plan issues when using DIR TO on the MCDU). From a purely systems perspective, I would say that the Aerofly A320 is more accurate (or at least more complete) than the default MSFS A320.
      I hope that helps? Much appreciated and all the best : )

    Hello I’m going to be flying this jet for an airline in a few months and I’d like to start getting familiar with the actual procedures and systems beforehand. Can you direct me to your tutorial that is it for gamers, and is more geared for actually pilots?

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Jaxav8r,
      Nice. First jet, or just changing fleets? This particular series is pretty basic, as I’ve tried to aim it at someone who’s just come into flight simulation. Still, you might get something out of it if you’re completely new to the bus. It does cover the foundations of how to fly the aircraft.
      You might find this series a little more useful though (you’ll have to excuse the presentation style, I made it quite a while ago):
      th-cam.com/play/PLaI08doFZ-LLxsOq4NgK1NnZmq2P6dODr.html
      It focuses on procedures, rather than how to actually fly the aircraft, but it’s all based around real world ops. Both series ultimately cater to flight simmers, so there may be inaccuracies in the aircraft systems, some peculiarities with the lack of a second crew member etc.
      Good luck with the course! If you have any questions, let me know.
      All the best : )
      PS: The material in the vids is all “for entertainment purposes” etc etc and of course the FCOMs take precedent!

      Well I don’t think it could hurt. . . Best bet is to give it a watch and see what you think I suppose. I don’t know that it’s “high level”, but again it’s based on real world procedures. So if you are new to the bus, you should hopefully get something out of it. You might like “320 Sim Pilots” vids as well. I think his channel focuses more specifically on the Airbus, he has some tutorials etc there as well.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello Thomas,
      On the default MSFS A320, the passenger oxygen supply controls are inoperative, I'm afraid. On a typical flight, those controls wouldn't be operated (they're for emergency use only) but, if your son would like a more in-depth simulation of the A320 and if he / you are running MSFS on PC, I would suggest trying the Flybywire mod; it's free and greatly increases the fidelity of the default A320. Otherwise, a new A320 (with much more accuracy) should be included (again for free) with the next sim update.
      I hope that helps a little! All the best : )

    These videos are great my system all setup BUT........how do I get answers to the (Fenix) A320 and the aircraft faults and warnings. I'm being dogged by a couple every time I use it and the constant audio warning is driving me nuts.😡 "cab/press LDG Elev" "auto FLT A/thr limited" plus LVR CLB constantly flashing unless I close thrust levers. Grateful for any pointers as it is now getting into the pro stuff. I'm obviously doing something wrong but what!!! My poor old PPL does not reach this far. 😀

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Chuckles,
      Those sorts of topics are a little outside the scope of this series (these videos were really designed to teach the basics). I’d imagine there are some more advanced tutorials available here on TH-cam (check out A320SimPilot for example) however, what I think you’re really after, is a greater understanding of the Airbus systems and I’m afraid, that only comes from reading the books haha (there are real-world FCOM’s available online). Your AUTO FLT / LVR climb issue is relatively easy to diagnose - it sounds like the Fenix is not registering your hardware input correctly / the thrust levers are not registering in the CLB detent. Make sure your throttles are calibrated (both in-sim and using the Fenix app if required) and make sure you position your throttles in the CLB detent (you should see “THR CLB” on the FMA). For the pressurisation, a couple of things spring to mind; 1) is the LDG ELEV selector set to auto and 2) have you entered a destination airport in the MCDU?
      Hopefully, that at least provides some sort of starting point. Let me know how you get on : )

      In terms of starting the APU, it very much depends on a number of different factors: Local restrictions, ground power availability, cabin temperature, ambient temperature and environmental concerns all come into play (amongst other things), but all things being equal (and with ground power available), typically the APU is started 5-10 mins before the pushback.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Gert,
      Obviously, the gear would have been extended for the landing but, the checks are done to ensure that no essential controls have been moved / altered, before the aircraft is electrically / hydraulically powered (it’s rare, but it does occasionally happen during maintenance tasks etc). Without checking, at the very least you risk actuating the controls in an undesired state and at worst, you risk harming ground personnel, or damaging the aircraft. It’s definitely a “belt and braces” approach, but that’s the name of the game in commercial aviation ; )

      Sorry I can’t be of more help on that one. If you can clarify your point further, I’d be happy to try and help : )
      All the best!

      Hi Paul,
      Haha well, a “misspent youth”, spending far too many hours with various flight sims and then a real-world type rating capped that all off rather nicely ; )
      It’s like learning most things from scratch though; daunting initially but, you chip away and things become second nature after a while : )
      Cheers and all the best!

      Hi NSRBLX,
      Haha well, this video was recorded some 3 years ago, on an old PC, before MSFS was better optimised so, that kinda figures XD
      All the best
