      Same problem here. Autopilot refusing to decent to selected altitude even in full managed mode. Sometimes keeps on climbing way past the selected altitude. Vertical speed not under control - crazy descent and climb rates. Trouble with VS. Auto throttle button got stuck and could not disengage. looks like Microsoft has put all efforts in graphics only and has ignored these basics. After spending good amount of money on PC upgrade to run this simulator- certainly disappointed.

    • @GunMaster6542
      @GunMaster6542 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey, not sure if you know how IAC charts work, but if you do, set the a320 to the minimum altitude at the first waypoint of the ILS procedure (would be 1500 feet for this example encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn%3AANd9GcSHM3prXSfoE5CO1QY9V-VVmLIm3DQb5VglDA&usqp=CAU) and when you fly over it, you'll be at the perfect place to engage the approach mode and capture the glideslope.

    • @GunMaster6542
      @GunMaster6542 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Now, to activate the approach mode on this game, first go to your radio panel, select NAV (you need to open the cover on top of the button first) and then select ILS (it's a few inches to the right of NAV). If you have the FMC set to execute that procedure, the ILS frequency should appear on your radio. After that just engage ILS and the APPR mode on the panel and the autopilot will change from following the flight plan to following the glideslope.

    • @GunMaster6542
      @GunMaster6542 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Keep in mind that the ILS approaches on MSFS are... well, quite a bit wrong. I usually fly the same route and a few times the aircraft will stay off-center with the runway and won't correct it. So keep an eye on the localizer signal on your PFD and disengage the AP if needed.

    @320 Sim Pilot: Thank you for this video. Being more familiar with Boeing autopilots I was having the normal "Why is it doing that?" Reactions when attempting to fly this A320, and I'm glad to see that it's not just me. Adapting to a new system is difficult enough, and having it modeled inaccurately just leads to more confusion when attempting to do things by the book. With any luck this will be fixed, either by Asobo/Microsoft, or more likely, a group like the A32NX project. I look forward to similar videos like this, and hopefully your tutorials will be updated as the sim itself is updated.

    It must always be funny to be a real pilot of a large airliner who plays with even a somewhat realistic simulator when home because then they can try all the funny or interesting things they've thought of but could never risk in a real plane, for either safety or lawful reasons.
    Also video is great. Autopilot was explained nicely and my understanding of it has been greatly increased (like why my autopilot kept trying to take me somewhere I didn't originally want to go) and I now know exactly what I need to do to get what I want done done. I'm not a pilot at all but I have mostly figured out how to use the autopilot in the Dahar TBM 930 and obviously, it's much different than a A320's autopilot. I almost feel like I could fly a real A320 on autopilot lol

    Microsoft needs to hire you for A320 development. Or at least some pilots! I’m new to it so I didn’t know the difference. But seeing your videos about everything that is NOT correct in this sim is kind of mind blowing lol.

    I think the reason it says thrust climb the whole time is because the throttle might be at thrust climb levels, if you pull it back a bit it might work how it's supposed to be. Need to try this myself.

    The setting Altitude and Vertical speed issue was something I dealt with last night during my Airbus flights... I kept setting my altitude and then the vertical speed, and then couldn't figure out why I wasn't climbing... Then I realized how it was bug and that I too had to set altitude first, then set the climb rate.. hope Microsoft has a fix for that soon.

  • @KidxVicious
    @KidxVicious 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The extreme climb rate on this thing has completely baffled me so far, glad to see that an actual Airbus pilot is getting the same thing. I thought I had some kind of wrong settings in the MCDU or something, but it seems like it's a bug. I hope they get around to fixing it, because it's annoying as hell to have to either babysit the autopilot by constantly selecting a reasonable V/S, or just accept a ridiculous and unrealistic rate of climb.

    It would be great to get a new video on this topic as a lot has changed in the sim both with changes Asobo has made, as well as the FBW mod. In addition, while I normally find your videos extremely helpful, I feel I'm still in the dark about managed vs select mode and when you would use the different modes. Maybe I need to watch one of the end-to-end videos to understand what mode to use under what circumstances.

    Based on this tutorial: I would absolutely love to see a navigation tutorial from you. Hopefully Microsoft will update and fix all the planes in an update to give them more features and have them behave more realistic. The game is great and lots of fun though. Just needs some polish as far as aircraft systems go.
