MS Train Sim is now Train Sim World from Dovetail Games. They are the studio that worked with Microsoft on the original train sim in the early 2000’s. Dovetail Games also signed a license agreement with Steam to release the new Microsoft FSX Gold Edition. So they have been intertwined with Microsoft and Steam since the beginning and would be well positioned for a collaboration between MSFS and Train Simulator which they now develop.
and 20 years from now will be nothing vs a 100 years from now ... mindblowing the further I push it ... Maybe at some point we´ll look back to FS2020 and think "my gosh, that thing was so barebone" ;)
Actually looks incredible. The only thing I don't like is the reliance on the servers, because if they're down, then you're just unable to play the game. I really don't get the people complaining about install sizes and loading times. It's no longer 1990, drives are really not that expensive anymore, and they have become so fast (NVMEs) that loading times really aren't a big issue.
They modeled almost the entire surface of the earth to within centimeters, and the rest to within 2 meters. You could literally fly through your town in a helicopter and double check the models with real life drone footage of your house. This isn't Microsoft Medical Simulator 2024, cut the devs some slack😂
@@mmorris2830 chill out, it's funny. Having a laugh at the expense of an amusing bug isn't hateful or anything. The devs would probably find it just as funny.
I have goosbumps. The Drako X, which is basically a turboprop PZL-104 Wilga - the aircraft of my childhood and teenage glider pilot years. I will fly that the most!
That was already confirmed to be upgraded post-launch (they aim to upgrade MSFS 2020 as well I believe at the same time). However, the aircraft models for the air traffic will be 91% complete as stated in the video.
There is so much wrong with the 2020 ATC that I don't believe they won't at least try to sort it. My highlights include: - A tug pushing me out of the airport boundary and the flight ending because I'd hit an object. I couldn't stop the tug because the ATC was yammering away to every aircraft on the planet and it didn't let me even click to ask the tug to stop (the button was greyed out and ATC wouldn't shut up) - Being given final landing clearance on ILS approach when at 7000ft with the runway 1NM ahead. That happened because I did everything ATC told me to do. I was then immediately told to Go Around and it tells me to head off to some waypoint 50NM away. That's not normal, right?
@@ukmaxiwasn't the 91% comment about actually modelling air traffic. Not about air traffic control? I think OP is commenting about the built in ATC system to get clearance and stuff.
I very much doubt this would run on my ZX spectrum with the extra memory from the 1980s - the first time I tried a flight simulator by Psion Computers.
I hope thats still going to be a feature. I plan on flying out yellowstone or somewere out west land next too a nice creek and just watch the beautiful sunrise. It would be cool of they also can add a more detailed realistic camground feature
I would love to see an open world train sim that modeled the word's railroads. I can only imagine how cool it would be to simulate the entire route of the Orient Express or a coast to coast or an Atlantic to Pacific trip in North America. I got into Train Sim 10 plus years ago, but the fact they couldn't get lines to interconnect to other lines kind of made me get bored of it.
@@skyhawk_4526 if I remember correctly Microsoft was planning on doing the entire world. Tracks and terrain were supposed to generate based on satellite imagery and data etc.

I stopped playing MSFS 2020 because of how annoying it was with the updates. Took so damn long every month or so, so long that I couldn't deal with it any longer, so having it cached instead sounds nicer.
Instead of complaining and doing nothing to improve it you should just get a good internet connection. With a fiber connection all household can afford, it takes only 10 to 15 minutes when an update has to be download.
@@laurentsamson8927 Fiber isn't readily available in every neighborhood, dingus. Also, I have gigabit fiber and updates still take an ungodly amount of time.

I really hope water physics get some love with this edition. Being able to properly fly a float plane would be really neat; First rise, second rise, and all that... if you know, you know. As it stands, that just isn't represented currently. Heres hoping, as this looks pretty freaking cool.
Im sure they will make water physics right on this but another very important feature is to make those trees and vegetation naturally move by the wind/weather... Also if they made it possible to be able to go to the moon and be Superman or able to fly a UFO spaceship too woukd be cool
@@OzzyInSpace it has been said, waves were more dynamic, they react to objects in water like your pontoons, and the height and direction of waves effect takeoffs. Tree physics have always been there.
@@EmeryE2 Well that's great to hear, if that is the case. But they haven't always "been there" - Flying a water based aircraft in the current sim "works", sure. But it definitely isn't up to par with being able to truly learn how to fly float planes.
It kinda makes me teary to see all these footage and how far we've come. I decided to chase my dream and started ground school back mid '22, MSFS has been my training tool since day 1, it was invaluable during PPL to practice maneuvers and routes. Now that I'm going through IFR it's even more important, luckily the folks at Working Title joined in and created immaculate recreations of all Garmin units. This game can be a sim depending on how you use it, and can be your best weapon to be a good proficient pilot.
@androidfarmer8863 I guess it's a good thing then that there's no way to easily set visibility in fs2020. They pretty much sold a copy of xplane when I tried setting the weather for flying an approach to minimums.
@@pieterduplessis6906no, it doesn’t, it means you know they don’t care as much as they should if you have any sense, and that doesn’t mean we don’t recognise there are more important things, but that you know that attitude can and does unfortunately affect those more important things too.
I've yet to see anyone mention the logbook or if they finally give an option to remove the arrow at the top of the screen every time you touch your mouse (without the need of an add on that is). Great video. Finally one with external footage without all the external gauges and POI markers all over the place. I give asobo major credit for what they've achieved and in doing it without greed. I love Star Citizen too and just imagine how easy it would have been for them to charge crazy high prices and monthly insurance, haha. It's amazing what you get for the ridiculously low price.
They better add a gamelauncher, where you can update the game, install/deinstall parts, and browse the addon store WITHOUT launching the game. Im tired of hours long installs/updates while running the game and wasting energy ... in windows update MS states they are commited to the environment ... well, prove it MS!
Looks stunning! The overall ground rendering and lighting improvements sell it for me. I really hope the performance optimisation means a half decent computer will be as smooth as glass. Really looking forward to November!
I sure hope trees snd vegetation moves according to the weather, its a important thing to give it that realism... They need to have a easy and automatic flyby camera too!! Also would be cool to be able to go do space mission to the moon and also be a UFO ship or Superman
The wheel prints in the snow/ foliage, wake turbulence, the visuals, MAINTENANCE!! This is going to be amazing. (But please get rid of the “you crashed” screen…
The 1 thing I think that wasn't mentioned is Performance. Was this footage recorded on PC or Xbox? And if it was PC, are you aware of any major performance increases from 2020 to 2024 besides the smaller install size and load times?
On MSFS 2020 I unintentionally became kind of "anti stutter expert", because I always had to struggle with annoying suttering, despite owning a high end PC. I hope so much this was solved in MSFS 2024. So my biggest concern is performance in MS2024 and as you said, it was not mentioned AT ALL in all the "early access videos" I have seen so far. ☹
@@Thoddy398 When I was in the CAT / CBT back in 2019, we were specifically told to not talk about performance in detail, especially because those who broke NDA were talking bs or from a place of lack of knowledge / technical know how. I expect this to be the same here. But I suspect a substantial improvement in some areas...
@@FlightSimmer-gl3yw Well, how does it look on the videos? I know you cannot always tell, but it seemed pretty smooth. Considering they have completely reworked the game engine, I would assume the performance was not a real issue.
Yeah all this is mind blowing but im afraid that ill have to run the game at all minimal video settings in VR. Hope im wrong and itll be optimized well.
I'll believe it when I see it. 50 million users is crazy for 2020 when they had so many bugs that affected core gameplay for YEARS. Mid-flight game crashes, Unable to capture glideslope in deluxe aircraft, and my favorite is entering the app and the plane from a cold start only to see that there is a plane system failure like the FMS when those settings are disabled. How many hours did I waste of my life trying to do an activity like landing challenges only to see the glass cockpit screens wouldnt turn on? Everything they built is really really impressive, but if I can't do the core gameplay mechanics outside of visually taking off/landing whats the point..
Have to agree there are still a lot of annoying bugs in 2020 even after all these years plus performance has always been bad. Can't help to think that it will be even worse given all the new features added. For me I'm going to wait until the game comes out to see if I will need to build a new PC just to play it.
I cannot wait for career mode. It looks like so much fun. The casual photography mode sounds cool too. This is coming from someone that MS/Asobo would probably categorize as a hardcore simmer (thousands of hours, played since early 2000s, enjoy flying on vatsim etc)
I am a real world pilot and use 2020 to practice flights as well as enjoy earth porn. It annoys the crap out of me that the devs 4 years on haven’t fixed some of the basic things like icao units (how hard is it to have knots, millibars, feet and meters like we use here in Europe) Fingers crossed for 2024
Real pilot also: not sure why you mention that. ICAO is an international standard, not particular to Europe, btw meters is a non-standard unit for altitude. And in MSFS you can have all the units you mentioned, it entirely depends of the aircraft.
I hope atc can state pressures in metric and imperial, even if just in brackets next to it, sick of pulling out my conversion chart in the dark tryna convert 29.92 to 1013 for eg

Working in Ag Aviation, the A-star, R44 and Air tractors are so cool to see WITH the spray booms. I'd like to see 206s and oh-58s. Maybe even MD500s so I can reenact my powerline inspections.
3:48 texture popping of that rectangular building LOL. Cloud still looks weird in my opinion. And relying heavily on cloud? Thats a big big concern for me. Asobo servers cant sometimes handle MSFS2020 traffic. How is it going to work with new sim which needs even more data streaming for all the players online?
MSFS is the reason why I bought the XSX console and just happily purchased the aviators edition. It doesn’t matter to me what 2020 content transfers over or the cost. I’ve been playing this sim since almost day one and I’m grateful it’s on console and runs so well.

I have the game, I am rather casual but I play tons of other games...and this review was hands down one of the best I have ever seen. Also, the work they did on the new version is amazing. Identifying and segmenting the user base is so crucial and they are doing a great job at listening. Love it
Nothing. Which is why many of us weren't happy with the 2020 announcement. Guarantee they shut down 2020 by mid 2026 as a prod to buy the new one. And with the price point they want, I see XPlane getting a shift in users

@@tedsword Microsoft train simulator was a big thing in the 2000's, so I hope there is a market that discusses that with him. Thanks for sharing.
I don't know if Train Simulator has forums, but feel free to ask them. ;)
To be fair
MS Train Sim is now Train Sim World from Dovetail Games. They are the studio that worked with Microsoft on the original train sim in the early 2000’s. Dovetail Games also signed a license agreement with Steam to release the new Microsoft FSX Gold Edition. So they have been intertwined with Microsoft and Steam since the beginning and would be well positioned for a collaboration between MSFS and Train Simulator which they now develop.
I really hope they keep the VR mode in the game.
Just watched a different video and he confirmed VR is available at launch
Please have triple screen support. Please God
@@skippychurch2965 If your PC can handle it... The released specs are not exactly kind in some areas.
@@ukmaxi yeah tripple screen all maxed might be beefy
@@RSProduxx I do triple now with msfs2020 (5, actually, with two g1000s). I just hope multiscreen is still a thing.
for 4 years this is such a fucking insane leap. I can't imagine 10-20 years from now.
and 20 years from now will be nothing vs a 100 years from now ... mindblowing the further I push it ...
Maybe at some point we´ll look back to FS2020 and think "my gosh, that thing was so barebone" ;)
@@RSProduxx It's scary to think about lol
MSFS also looks a lot better now than in 2020. I made a break between early months till 2023 and it looks like a new game in comparison.
When you crash, your VR set will electrocute you.
I like that MSFS 24 has different kids of "game" options. Freestyle - Missions - Challenges, plus others.
This was so well put together. Great job and thank you!
Well if you can afford a few petabytes at home, go on 😂
You can't store this game at home
Agreed. There may be a choice for drive use hopefully.
They want to see whats on your drive spying !!!!!
@@OmerrhonI really hope there is.
The issue is not storing it.. the issue is downloading massive amounts of data VS your ISP.
8:33 somebody call that npc an ambulance. I don't think human eyes are supposed to do that 😅
Ahaha that's horrifying
They modeled almost the entire surface of the earth to within centimeters, and the rest to within 2 meters. You could literally fly through your town in a helicopter and double check the models with real life drone footage of your house.
This isn't Microsoft Medical Simulator 2024, cut the devs some slack😂
@@mmorris2830 chill out, it's funny. Having a laugh at the expense of an amusing bug isn't hateful or anything. The devs would probably find it just as funny.
That grand canyon footage looks stupidly good
Riiiight? Pretty amazing stuff. The increased focus on flight planning was cool too.

Yes, I can't wait to see the Mach Loop or Star Wars Canyon. I guess I land solidly into the tourist category of simmer.
Amazing to meet you at this Squirrel! Epic event and great vid!
I have goosbumps. The Drako X, which is basically a turboprop PZL-104 Wilga - the aircraft of my childhood and teenage glider pilot years. I will fly that the most!
Damn these devs are a beast. Kudos to their commitment!
Not one mention of ATC? Sounds like we may still need third party ATC to fill the gap.
My highlights include:
- A tug pushing me out of the airport boundary and the flight ending because I'd hit an object. I couldn't stop the tug because the ATC was yammering away to every aircraft on the planet and it didn't let me even click to ask the tug to stop (the button was greyed out and ATC wouldn't shut up)
- Being given final landing clearance on ILS approach when at 7000ft with the runway 1NM ahead.
At least MSFS 2024 will have hot air balloons so I can put to rest my ZX Spectrum game Ballooning after 40 years.
So refreshing to a video that is not just a rehashed edit of the existing trailer. That earned you a subscription.
You forgot to mention that we can explore most of the world on foot
I hope thats still going to be a feature. I plan on flying out yellowstone or somewere out west land next too a nice creek and just watch the beautiful sunrise. It would be cool of they also can add a more detailed realistic camground feature
@@chrismion4007 You don't have to hope. That feature is already been confirmed.
It was a pleasure to meet you at this event! Fantastic video and I look forward to seeing you again!
MICROSOFT.... please do a Train Simulator next
Mmmh, or ships :)
Flight simulator is one of the oldest game franchises
@@skyhawk_4526 if I remember correctly Microsoft was planning on doing the entire world. Tracks and terrain were supposed to generate based on satellite imagery and data etc.
@@kaeptnbaloo they actually did have a Ship Simulator too. And it would be a lot easier as most of the land wouldn't need to be made. only about 1-2km of the coastal stretch
Im just interested in better live weather ngl, I live for those atmospheric flights or storm chases
I love that they added cargo weight so when carrying things it will affect your flight. I am super excited for hauling in this
Thats in 2020 aswell though
I hope its better optimized than the previous release
Yeah, it actually using more than 5% of the GPU would be nice.
It not having "reinstall your operating system - regards, Microsoft" issues alone would be a step up
This just makes a better case we might live in a simulation.
This is an excellent commercial. Hope the soft compensation agreement has improved.
Now they need to collaborate with scs and do something with truck sims. Man that would be something
its amazing how they identified and improved on all the flaws of the previous game and included every feature you could possibly imagine. I'm just hoping it all works as advertised this time.
havent watched a video of yours in years.... hearing your voice gave me much nostalgia and had me thinking back to the euro truck sim days when id watch you everyday.
Great insight into MSFS 2024! Thanks Paul! 🔥
Well done, nice review! Surprised about EGSR being your local aerodrome. Greetings from Ipswich!
That career mode officially makes Microsoft Flight Sim one of the best "videogames" ever made, people can't argue it's just a simulation tool anymore.
its both a simulator and a game. just depends on how you use it this debate is dumb because its both
All you needed to tell me is ‘they’ve got CAPYBARAS!!’ Take my money
9:58 Oh man, i hope those banner adverts are customisable 😊
Can we, like... put SCS somewhere in this project and drive trucks too?

Of all the folks invited to this event, i appreciate your recap the most. Thank you! Im so excited!
You had me at dynamic walkarounds 🤣
I stopped playing MSFS 2020 because of how annoying it was with the updates. Took so damn long every month or so, so long that I couldn't deal with it any longer, so having it cached instead sounds nicer.
Instead of complaining and doing nothing to improve it you should just get a good internet connection. With a fiber connection all household can afford, it takes only 10 to 15 minutes when an update has to be download.
@@laurentsamson8927 Fiber isn't readily available in every neighborhood, dingus.
Also, I have gigabit fiber and updates still take an ungodly amount of time.
@@laurentsamson8927 yeah and pay 100 a month or so, no thank you.
@@laurentsamson8927 A fiber connections, or even a good internet connection, is not available everywhere, and it is far from true that "all" households can afford it. Your privilege is showing.
@@laurentsamson8927 Oh how wrong you are. I have 350mbs download. It does not take 15 minutes on the microsoft servers. Especially once you've installed the update and still have world update found in the store to install + anything else they updated. Far from 10-15 minutes.
Thank you @squirrel, love your videos in general so great to see this coming from you. I'm looking forward to the release although I know that my PC will also need to be upgraded probably then.
1:13 didnt know the graphics would be this good

$260 CAD plus tax which will put it over $300 for the aviator version, holy crap that's insane...This has to be the most expensive game ever.

Trees and water have been given correct physics.
@@EmeryE2 Have they outright said that anywhere?
Well, I see we still have large commuter buses driving through small GA tiedown areas. Sweet.
when we nitpick like this, then you know you have a winner in your hand
@@pieterduplessis6906 Ok then. Set visibility to 3 miles. Let me know what happens.
Im tired of hours long installs/updates while running the game and wasting energy ... in windows update MS states they are commited to the environment ... well, prove it MS!
did you watch the video at all? you wont get any updates, its all server side.
If you watched the video you will have learned that the updates will be all server side unless they have a big to fix for the client.
@@wout123100 Oh really ? They will never update the executable or DLL's will they ? lol
This looks like everything I wanted MSFS2020 to be so I'm pretty excited, I just hope my 3080 can run it at 2k 60fps minimum.
I am more of a career mode person myself. I'm going to have some fun with that.
What a time to be alive!
I remember being blown away by FS98
My, how far things have come.
I cannot wait to get my mitts on 2024!!
What hardware was the demonstration played on? I ask because I could still see stuttering? surely the hardware they used would've been the best.
I bet it still stutters.
its a very early version, i bet that will improve, i say most issues might come form the servers.
Also would be cool to be able to go do space mission to the moon and also be a UFO ship or Superman
took them 30 years but finally they added a career mode
That was an excellent synopsis of this sim. Very clear, logical, compact, and interesting!
And no irritating subtitles!
The wheel prints in the snow/ foliage, wake turbulence, the visuals, MAINTENANCE!! This is going to be amazing. (But please get rid of the “you crashed” screen…
My dear, I really appreciate and love your videos. Thanks, mate.
The 1 thing I think that wasn't mentioned is Performance. Was this footage recorded on PC or Xbox? And if it was PC, are you aware of any major performance increases from 2020 to 2024 besides the smaller install size and load times?
Yes. I watched 5 re/previews now and no word about performance. NDA?
But I suspect a substantial improvement in some areas...
this is an early release, it will get better , i am sure.
@@FlightSimmer-gl3yw Well, how does it look on the videos? I know you cannot always tell, but it seemed pretty smooth. Considering they have completely reworked the game engine, I would assume the performance was not a real issue.
I am old as i played the very first Microsoft Flight Sim. Boy has it came a long way from back in the day.
wow ..VR is going to be next level on this !
Well only if you have the top of the top of the line PC.

Beau and informative to watch. Thank you from NZ for taking the time to share this with us
Beau = beautiful 🙄
Can’t imagine what Microsoft flight simulator 2054 will look like
FAA will be included for sure. We will rent a real aircraft and fly with vr glasses in the real world 😅
2:12 Thats a gdman A10 Warthog! Time to spread some freedom

One BRRRRRRRRRRT at a time
I cannot wait for career mode.
Damn Squirrel.. been a while since I've visited your channel, but back 4 years ago, you literally taught me how to fly with your MSFS2020 tutorials. I took those skills over to DCS and IL2 and have been really enjoying WW2 dog-fighting.

From the way you described, there seem to have lots of advantages but I ask: What about owning? If their servers go down? What will you actually own?
this is one of the symptoms of the digital revolution, not a simming thing.
Nothing. Which is why many of us weren't happy with the 2020 announcement. Guarantee they shut down 2020 by mid 2026 as a prod to buy the new one. And with the price point they want, I see XPlane getting a shift in users
