My son, Andy, passed away on February 28, 2021. He was only 34. A day or two later I heard this song for the first time. It was moving to think of both of his grandfathers, whom he loved so dear, wading in to greet him and taking him to see Jesus. I'm not sure the idea of the song is biblically accurate, but I know they are all there together with loved ones already passed, including his infant sibling. I always expected that I would get to meet that baby first, but Andy hurried on ahead of me.🥲 I praise God that I will see them again in paradise. ❤️
I was working with my dad one day in his business painting houses, when he threw out the random comment, "When I die don't ask God to raise me from the dead." When I asked, somewhat indignantly, "Why not!?" He answered, "Cause He might do it and then I'd be mad at having to wait longer for heaven." When he passed, I looked at his mortal shell laying on that ER bed and just said goodbye. Thank you for a beautiful song and fond remembrances.
It's a high level all the way around, I saw them live in Branson Missouri and I can tell you right now I've seen many many bands live in the last 40 years and they hold up. Pure talent at its best.
Oh yes, extremely high talent level. Everyone performing of course, but yes as a trainee guitarist myself - I also noticed how he makes it look so easy!
This song strengthens my faith I lost my 3 toddler children to a house fire in 2010 lost my father in 2020 and now my mother in 2022. Everything I love I lost Hopefully there's something left for my future
Dear James, Your toddler children are FOR SURE waiting over the Jordan River in heaven! Jesus Himself said that children are of the Kingdom of God. Little children are watched over by angels. Their angels are always before the face of God, the Father. So, they told God about your toddler children in the house fire. Why did God allow this terrible thing? I don't know... What I do know, is that their guarding angels brought each of their souls to heaven. They are save, forever by and with Jesus. Stick to your faith in Jesus, one sweet day you will meet them again! Warmest wishes, Christian Oosterhagen (42), Holland
Even though I know there will be no marriage in heaven except that of Christ and his bride, I hope that I will at least recognize my lifetime wife in Glory one day and have a fond feeling toward her. This is a great love song and always makes me love my wife more.
I'm going to preach my Brother in law's funeral this coming Friday. When you have names and faces that come to mind while you're singing this song it makes the tears flow even more. Sad tears, because we'll miss him, joyful tears, because we'll meet him again on those far side banks. Blessing on your family as you look forward to seeing your grandpa in eternity. Thank you for your music that blesses us all.
There is a steam room I like to go to, built off the side of a mountain in a fancy spa. When I'm alone in there I sing this song every time! With the natural echo, I can sing pretty quietly and it comes out booming. I end up spending hours in there singing The Petersens :) You bring so much beauty to my life, thank you again!! Going to Missouri is now no 1 on the bucket list.
My grandma passed away last week, and I just wanna say I listened to this song A LOT. It brought me a lot of comfort, and this Live version just makes me feel good. Thank you so much guys, y’all truly are amazing 😊
That's a beautiful song mini mini of my family made that trip I too will be making that trip who knows when everytime I hear that song I Cry I'm not ashamed by that at all I listen to that song everyday thank you I know it comes from the heart until we meet again have a happy Valentine's Day to you all be safe stay healthy and don't forget pray thank you
I came across your older video of this song at a very very low time in my life and it started me down a path that in time lead me to find my faith in God. Along with prayer, this song has become an everyday ritual for me, and in turn, it has changed my life. for this, I am forever thankful. God bless
They NEVER disappoint in their song choice, key, harmonies, melodies, and strong play skills. Modern Day ....Von Trapp or Carter Family. God Bless each of you! Please know in 617 this God's Love is appreciated. PS. You Grandfather is peaceful in God's Arms.
Sung beautifully by people who believe in the truth they sing. Best version I have heard (sorry Jimmy Fortune, although yours is also superb and sung with a heart for God as well). My mother in law passed yesterday, a strong believer in the Christian faith, and I can imagine her singing this to her husband from Heaven, where she now rests. The lead singer in this sounds a lot like my own daughter, who also sings lead for worship in a major church.
Love this family; but when I think that I found my favorite, another member blows my mind. You all are smart to stick together the way you do. It is something truly beautiful to see. Thank you!!!
This Terry Smith classic has been covered by hundreds of performers, but I don't believe anyone has topped this treatment of it by The Petersens. Exceptionally well done, group!
I gave a like because of good singing and playing. It's a pleasant song but I'm not religious. One can like religious music even if not religious eg The Messiah. Only been to one live performance so far. That was in Glasgow many years ago. Also, gave you a like as well 😄
Not everyone thinks of thumbs up/down the same way. It often isn't even a criticism of the band or song, just expressing a preference of certain music over another, or even how it hits them in the moment. As beautiful and meaningful as this song is and how much I love it now, it would have been painful for me to listen to after my mom died and with my dad in his diminished mental capacity missing her. I don't do a thumbs down, but that's me. But I couldn't have listened to it either. Now I can picture their joy at being together in heaven instead of the sadness of being separated.
Beautiful harmonies. Great to see a flat top in Ellen's hands on this one. I've worked with many major and local artists in my almost 40 year audio career, and you folks are one of the tightest harmonizing groups I've ever had the pleasure of listening to.
Your music is a place for resting in these confused times. Many thanks to God and to You for the music and your smile. Be blessed. Greatings from Germany.
This song always stood out in your album as something really special. The way you perform it and especially Ellen's lead make it clear how meaningful and important those words are.
Thank you so much for this today. I was just watching my oldest sister's funeral. Between the bad weather and Covid19, I couldn't be there in person. The Church played Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring for a prelude. That had been her wedding March in '61. Farside Banks of Jordan was perfect for me after the funeral.
Thank you guys SO MUCH. I spent a lot of time trying to find someone who could do this song justice, and so far you really are the only ones I've heard--and I've listened to some pretty big names.
Ellen, I believe it is, one of the better voices I've ever heard, and the harmony on this song is fab. Not to mention the awesome message this song has to offer every Christian!!
Your Music has blessed my life this morning sitting in my easy chair read my Bible with Covid struggling I wanted to hear some music before I continue reading you Young folks for the first one was the pop-up power forwards you have no idea but then again maybe you do thank you My name is Jim
They just get better and more charming each day. I love this family group and Emmitt is a wonderful complement to the group. They are so fun to watch and listen to.
William Race Wow what spirit You put into those words, I tried to sing along with You but it's hard when tears can't be held back, God Bless You - Petersens.
I just so love you guys. You are, I believe the best sounding blue grass out there. I do believe the Holy Spirit can travel through music, because that's how it feels to me. Please keep it up. Lots of love and blessings to you.
Thank you so much, this song really cut through my cold old heart, it’s as though the voice of my loved ones passed, tears flowing, praise be to God, thank you Lord for this family and their obedience in sharing the talents You have blessed them with 🙏
Ellen hits new highs of nuanced voice control with every new song. But special kudos to Katie for that low harmonizing fiddle and Matt's vocals. You don't really even notice they are there till you listen, and then wow. Mama bringing it home on bass.
Complete and perfect. Honestly, I think if this beautiful family had a bunny it would sing. This is just gorgeous and what we all need right now. Thank you so much.
Wow,that was absolutely beautiful. It touches my heart like you couldn't imagine! And with family there waiting for me, I can just see that wonderful meeting. I know that I'll go before my beautiful wife and then I'll be the one waiting for her. As I'm writing this it brings tears of joy to my eyes. Thank you so much for your love of songs like this, and your dedication to your craft. You are all incredible singers and musicians!
What a beautiful song, sung by a beautiful family. A wonderful blessing to listen to them sing. Thank you for putting tears in this old man's eyes. May God continue to bless each & every one of you!!
Just reading the comments of others, is evidence of the pleasure and light that you bring to so many. I know your job in heaven one day will be making music with the angels. Makes one long to be away from this world so full of woe...but thankfully we are comforted by your spiritual music. Love you -from South Africa.
This song always brings me to tears. You guys bring me about as close to heave as earthly possible with your harmonies and musical abilities. May God continue to richly bless you. How I would love to come see you in concert some day.
I absolutely love the Petersons their music is exactly what I watched my family do for years, we all played a part in the music in our home and our church at various times. I played drums my other brothers and brother-in-law's play various instruments however the harmonies of my mother and my sisters was definitely harmonies that only a family can achieve. My mother sang Alto for Naomi Sego has a part-time singer and fill in on the road. So the petersens take me back so many years and remind me of such fond memories of my mother and sisters and their harmonies. It's not easy but it is natural. On my bucket list is to see the Petersons and hopefully get to thank them for taking me back to a time that I loved and cherished the memories of the harmonies. Folks these kids are specially talented thanks to their mother and father I'm sure. God bless them for they have truly blessed me taking me back and I absolutely love their music and their voices. God bless them and God bless you
Your music lifts a heavy heart, puts a smile on a on a troubled face and makes a foot tap the floor. Thank you for bringing hope and peace into the lives of your viewers.
*LYRICS - Far Side Banks of Jordan*
------------
I'll admit my steps are growing wearier each day
Still I've got a certain journey on my mind
The lures of this ol' world have ceased to make me wanna stay
My one regret is leaving you behind
If it proves to be His will that I'm the first to cross
And somehow I've a feeling it will be
When it comes your turn to travel likewise, don't feel lost
For I will be the first one that you'll see
I'll be waiting on the far side banks of Jordan
I'll be sitting drawing pictures in the sand
An' when I see you coming, I will rise up with the shout
And come running through the shallow waters, reaching for your hand
Through this life we've labored long to earn a meager fare
It's brought us trembling hands and failing eyes
So I'll just rest here on the shore and turn my eyes away
Until you come, then we'll see paradise
I'll be waiting on the far side banks of Jordan
I'll be sitting drawing pictures in the sand
An' when I see you coming, I will rise up with the shout
And come running through the shallow waters, reaching for your hand [x2]
And come running through the shallow waters, reaching for your hand

Yall, Matt doesn't get enough credit for his guitar playing. High level of skill and cleanliness in his picking.
It's a high level all the way around, I saw them live in Branson Missouri and I can tell you right now I've seen many many bands live in the last 40 years and they hold up. Pure talent at its best.
He has my attention! Great job Matt!

Just what I was thinking
All of the band are very talented but I did think the main or lead singers voice was absolutely fabulous

It doesn't matter who sings, it's always brilliant AND worth waiting for.
I'm still trying to wrap my head around why anyone would give a thumb down... thank you Very enjoyable..
I gave a like because of good singing and playing. It's a pleasant song but I'm not religious. One can like religious music even if not religious eg The Messiah. Only been to one live performance so far. That was in Glasgow many years ago.
