I just lost my husband of 41 years New Years Eve. (41 years married, 43 years together) I can't think of anything that could be more shocking than to find a loved one on the bedroom floor......gone. I'm still in shock. It was just so unexpected. The coroner said it was a massive heart attack and at the age of only 63! That may sound old to some of you youngsters out there but believe me, it's not. My prayer is that you will come running through the shallow waters, reaching for my hand........ when my time comes! I love and miss you Jim! Until we meet again....keep drawing those pictures in the sand! Fly high angel!
My mate died way too young after 22 years with him. He visits me in dreams. We hugged for a long time in the last dream this week. He was with his brothers. No one spoke. I still can feel that long hug.

Get some help with your grief. It is a shock and 63 years is way to young. You lose so much - a liver, a best friend, a confidant, a provider of many things and I’m sure he filled countless other roles in your life and heart! God bless you!
My dad died new year's eve Dec 31 2005 ..after being married 41 years to mom..sadly I saw mom gone 4 years ago wen I went to her house to do dialysis on her❤..my condolences to u all who have lost ur loved ones🙏💞

My Dad passed away in April of this year, and this was one of the songs we had played at at his funeral. My Mom chose this song. The other song we had played was "God Bless The USA" by Lee Greenwood. I chose that song, because my Dad was in the Navy during the Korean War. His funeral was a military funeral. He and My Mom celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary last December. Everybody who knew my Dad and who loves him misses him so much! He was one of those people who never seemed to have any enemies - very few, if any at all. My Dad was a Christian, and I know he's in Heaven with Jesus.
We all love you and miss you, Dad. We'll see you again when the Lord says it's time.

My husband heard this song one night when Jimmy Fortune was on Larry's Country Diner. He wanted it played at his funeral when the time came. Well he passed back in January and I has it played at his funeral. We were married 56 years and he had been really sick the past 3 years, and I know he is in a better place but I sure do miss him. That is one of the greatest songs I have ever heard and it will always be special to me .

Now he is sitting on the “Far Side of Jordan “ with his hand stretched out saying come to me Rita. I’ve got my ticket that Jesus died for and ready to go . Be patient my love it could be anytime.

I recently lost my wife of nearly 52 years after a 7-8 year journey with Alzheimer's Disease. And a dear friend, "Chappy", who is a retired Baptist minister (and retired as a Lt. Col. in the Army after serving two tours in 'Nam!) and who plays the dobro, while I play the guitar and sing bluegrass myself, sent me this video. I had seen it before and had actually performed it. But it so struck home under these recent circumstances. No one does it like Jimmy Fortune!
This song says it all. We lost our 20 yr old son, and I know when we see him again, he will run to us and we will never have to let him go again.. We were so lucky to see Jimmy in concert a couple of months ago, he sang this song. It always brings tears to my eye... He is a fantastic singer. This song brings some comfort just picturing how it will be on that day..

My husband of 54 years passed 11 years ago and I decided I wanted this song played at my funeral because I know Wally is waiting for me. I am so happy to find this CD today. Every other place I looked it said this CD was no longer available. Even Amazon didn't have it! It will sound so beautiful when it's played. I hope the people listen carefully to the words! This was my mothers favorite song and singer. It makes it a little easier to go on being able to hear it since it has only been a week since she passed. It sounds just like her and something she would do. I can see her reaching out as she runs through the water to greet me.
