What a wonderful old hymn! I believe that it goes back over a thousand years to a poem written by an Irish believer who was a spiritual descendant of St. Patrick. ❤

Katie mesmerizes, Emmett rocks, Matt soothes, Karen energizes, Ellen uplifts, and Julianne captivates.. The Petersens wonderfully shines like heavenly Angels.. ❤
Harmonically incredible version! This wonderful song is one of my favorites and I have heard many versions, but this is truly an astounding and beautiful performance! God bless you all for this tribute to our God in heaven! I have played it over and over and each time it gets better!
Thank you so much for your kind words and support! We're truly honored that our version resonates with you, especially knowing it’s one of your favorite songs. It means the world to us that you find it uplifting and inspiring. God bless you, and thank you for being a part of this journey with us! 🙏❤️
@@ThePetersens All of you have beautiful voices. I found the melody changeup by Ellen to be very rich in the way she altered the melody line, and made it even more personal and better! Loved every bit of it!!!
what I love about this family is they sing all so differently and yet all so beautifully - thank you God for the moments of peace in my life this wonderful family brings - in your name. Amen.
The Petersons have introduced me to a genre that, not being a believer, I previously did not appreciate. But I cannot deny their talent and the beauty of their music.

I know. Almost every song brings a tear to my eye. What this means is The Pedersens are highly adept at touching hearts. Something the Spirit does on a regular basis.
Its always great to listen to this great Christian band. Here we have singling, Katie the softest and smoothest voice, Ellen the more powerful voice, and Julienne the unique voice with some natural vibrato. This band presents a clean wholesome image of people that love Christ as I do. When you love Christ you are never alone. He is with you always.
Hands down the best version of this song. The humble excellence of bluegrass and Catholic music is a match made in Heaven. I pray that one day all Christians face down the world under one banner, as our Savior prayed for in the Garden. God bless y'all!
Another beautiful song from people who truly believe what they are singing and are using their gifts given by God. Keep up gods work and continue to light the way to Christ!
Julianne's vocals are simply on another atmosphere. Heavenly tone of an angel. So much talent, God blessed the Petersens with passion, soul and an outstanding musical work ethic.
In the past I would have not really listened fully to this song and maybe mocked it as 'cheesy'. Now all I see and hear is beauty and divine connection. Thank you for all that you emanate and your wonderful hearts - truth always wins in the end... thanks for shining so bright 🌱☀️🌻💚
You have that divine connection cause we are all made in the image of god and our sense of beauty and truth is transcendental in the direction of christ. That's one way of knowing the gospel is true. Thanks for the lovely comment by the way !
I have believed in our Lord for so many years now but this past year my faith has increased immeasurably. Back in January/February of this year we sang this hymn at church and I immediately looked for it when I got home. My children and I listened and fell in love with your group instantaneously but most importantly, fell in love with the Lord. I sing this hymn every day and feel closer to Him. I just wanted to finally thank you all for your righteous music, God is using you all in such a glorious way. May He bless your family. ❤
Our God deserves the very best praise and worship performances that can be produced. Your music plays an important part I’m my life. I rise with the angels and applaud. Well done good and faithful servant!
You have no idea how this blessed me! I just lost my best friend of 2O years. We met in college and this was the school hymn. It was always such a dear hymn for that time in our lives and it was the reminder I needed today as I mourn her. Thank you ❤️
I’m sorry to hear about your loss. I too lost my best friend, we’ve been as close as brothers since diapers. It does get easier with time and prayers heading your way!!💐
I m not a really emotional person, but everytime when Jullianne starts to sing it moves me and i get tears in my eyes. It makes me feel alive. Thank you and bless you all. Greetz from the Netherlands.
This reminds me of a long-gone time of simplicity, beauty, and wholeness of heart. I love the way the whole family plays together. It brings me peace in my moving on.
For any Gaels or Gaelic learners who might happen upon this, this hymn is actually a translation of an Old Irish prayer. It's been translated into modern Irish and Scottish Gaelic as well
I cannot click the 'Like' button enough. This song is healing enough, but the Peterson's make it so much more special. Beautiful performance and gives me a feeling of what Heaven will be like.
It is very difficult not to get caught up in comparisons of which young lady has the best voice or who is the best musician. If you are new to the petersens, please accept some advice from someone who has listened to them for hundreds of hours. It's impossible. They are all magnificent. And that includes the guys.
I have to say when Ellen got to her part it moved me to tears. Wow. All were great but she stood out to me. Music to feed and comfort the sheep, not energize the goats.
More than sixty years ago my teacher, Mr Smythe, wanted to include this beautiful hymn in school assembly. Nobody wanted to sing a solo. He knew I had a good reading voice, and asked me to read the words. They have been with me ever since. When I visited my daughter's church in the UK, before COVID-19 struck, the musicians played and sang the hymn beautifully. At the end of the service one of the leaders came and sat next to me and asked, "Why are you crying Steve?" I told him how much the words meant to me, they are a gospel in miniature, and then he asked me to tell the whole church. I can't help but cry every time I hear the hymn. Jesus is everything to those who believe on His name.
There is a wonderful innocence and simplicity behind this delivery. I think that we have gotten so enamored with high production, that we can lose the beauty of simplicity.
When they went into acapella, you could really hear the purity of their voices. This is music. This is song. This is poetry. And it is backed with musicians that can play instruments and actually sing. I'm getting u there in age and one of the remaining items on my bucket list is to see ThePetersons in concert. I am hoping to get to Branson next year and mark that item off my list.
Wow! This is a great song to compare the ladies voices. So different individually, but PERFECT when they come together in harmony! I love you guys. God Bless you all.
All the instruments blend together well, and the voices... the voices are in perfect harmony. The dubro and the violin have compacted together to produce a sound worthy of these haunting lyrics, all praise to the One God, the God of Israel, who sustains all life, and unto whom no one or no thing can ever be compared. God bless you all for sharing this with us.
Three lovely, very talented sisters accompanied by the rest of The Petersens family band sing the most awesome version of this great and inspirational song. Folks, it doesn't get any better than this GENUINE and UNSTAGED TALENT!
Watched this tonight with my little Niece Emma 5yrs old, she enjoyed it laughed as Matt and Katie did the ending. I would love to get Emma and her parents to Branson to see everyone in person, what a great example you all would be her.
We sang this congregationally for the memorial of someone who came from our church years ago-before becoming a pastor himself. It's comforting to realize that this hymn has been sung and played by the Body of Christ for over a millennium.Hold fast to those things which are true.
Absolutely wonderful. My mother used to sing this song a lot. Thank you Petersens, your last two songs brought back great memories of my mother and grandfather. I wonder if you know how much your music ministers to your listeners. May the Lord continue to bless you as you use your gifts to bless us.
Of the most beautiful forms of music, the one dedicated to God is the most sublime and powerful. In my recovery from covid 19 I am thankful for finding the Music of The Petersens to strengthen my soul with the help of the Lord. Thanks.
What a beautiful song & voices like angels! My wife & I just got 'back home again', after driving 1000 miles to see you in person. I will never forget it!!
Yep! I repeated her section a dozen times - this whole family is incredibly talented, but there's something about Juliane's voice, it really is captivating (personal preference). Thank you for making this fantastic rendition of one of my favorite hymns - my soul sings with you praises!
Year 2021 is my most bipolar year I've ever had.. so far. Earlier this year my younger brother was struck by a truck and got a broken leg and then my father died of Covid 19 (according to his doctor) a month later.. (Feb 19 &. March 14 respectively) The first half of 2021 was really the darkest chapter of my life.. I woke up everyday holding a grudge against God, heavens, Jesus (by the way I was raised a Catholic) or anything and became hateful toward people in general.. I paint my emotions out just to survive the day.. April came. May went. And then June 27 happened. The first time I saw your video on TH-cam was your JD's Country Roads cover.. I was searching any bluegrass music after rewatching my favorite cartoon The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and one of the recommendations was yours, I clicked and that was it, too late for the party but thankful now being part of it.(many had covered that song yes, but your chemistry is surreal) The second half is a hopeful one. Fast forward 9 Oct.. this Hymn.. I listen.. then I looked for Liz's Lyrics cause I'm not really familiar with, and realized God, heavens, Jesus is reaching out.. as if saying "I AM still here". The lyrics are the ones I long to say. Everytime I watch your videos And listen to your songs I feel blissfully ecstatic.. And to sum up my 2021 I would likened it to a title of Irving Stone's novel. Agony and Ecstasy.
Every time I’m about ready to give up on this old country, so divided and full of anger, I get an inspiring reminder like this song of what we have here that is uniquely and beautifully good. Heartfelt thank you to you all.
God TRUELY blessed each of you Ladies with your own individual singing voices. He also knew that when combined, that they would be Angelic. Thank you all from my heart, for adding and sharing your wonderful talents with this world of The Almightys Creation. God Bless You All !
Heavenly!!! Beautiful your interpretation of this ancient Irish hymn! Amazing how you can go from country-bluegrass to pop and gospel with this ease. And everything is always very professional! The instrumental part is perfect, with the dobro and the fiddle in great evidence. The voices of the three girls are already wonderful individually, then in the choirs the fusion and harmony are perfect !!! Sorry though, but this time I want to congratulate especially Ellen: her voice always reaches very high peaks and here she expresses herself with truly extraordinary clarity and power. She really has a “top world” voice! Then, that a cappella ending gives you goosebumps !!!
The melody of this hymn is really beautiful. You guys did a fantastic job on it. Apart from the heavenly harmonies I particularly enjoyed Ellen's singing on this one.
@@davidnoir188 "Lord of all hopefulness" is another religious hymn that is sung to the same Irish tune as "Slane", but has a completely different lyrics. “Be Thou My Vision” is an ancient Irish Christian hymn. Its origins are uncertain, but it is believed that it was written around the eighth century. The original title is "Rop Tù Mo Balle" in Old Irish Gaelic. The text was then translated into English, in 1905, by Mary Elizabeth Byrne and became “Be Thou My Vision”. The current text of the hymn, however, is the one reduced to verse by Eleanor Hull in 1912. The hymn is now sung on the basis of an Irish melody called "Slane".

*LYRICS - Be Thou My Vision*
------------
Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best thought, by day or by night
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light
Be Thou my wisdom, and Thou my true word
I ever with Thee, and Thou with me, Lord
Thou my great Father, and I Thy true son
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one
Be Thou my battle shield, sword for the fight
Be Thou my dignity, Thou my delight
Thou my soul's shelter, and Thou my high tower
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power
Riches I heed not, nor man's empty praise
Thou my inheritance, now and always
Thou and Thou only, be first in my heart
High King of heaven, my treasure Thou art
High King of heaven, my victory won
May I reach heaven's joys, O bright heaven's sun
Heart of mine own heart, whatever befall
Still be my vision, O Ruler of all
Be Thou my vision
Be Thou my vision
(Still be my vision)
Be Thou my vision
(Still be my vision) (O Ruler of all)

Lots of love from Adelaide, South Australia.
I’ve got such a huge emotion of pure love, that I feel it came from heaven. God bless you
This might be my favorite version of my favorite hymn ever. Thank you!
Now I know what the singing will sound like in Heaven! Thank you for what you do and the obvious love you put into it!
Truly soulful and so touching. Only beautiful hearts can reflect God's love and humble prayers sung like this.
Awesome! What gorgeous harmony! Thank you all for sharing your talents with me!
This is my husband’s absolute favorite hymn and one of mine, as well. Beautifully done! Thank you!
Hi Frank. I totally agree with you. I also wrote it in my comment. Ellen is truly fantastic! An incredible voice!
We used to sing the original (well the original hymn anyway) as children in school assembly in the UK.

They're all wonderful but any time Ellen gets a solo is a plus for me.
