Living with a BMW M5 CS - why this £140,000 four-seater is BMW's finest moment

  • The perfect daily driver?! It's no secret that I didn't love the BMW M5 Competition - it was too firm and a bit too aloof to really trust. So in the interest of good consumer journalism, I spent a few days living with the £145,000 M5 CS to see if BMW's fixed all its problems. Turns out they have - and it might just be one of the finest super saloons ever made.

    Love the video.
SR71 and M5 CS. Going places really quickly without drawing attention to yourself.
    More museum pieces please!

I felt safer parallel parking it next to kerbs, for sure 😂

Let’s face it, it’s only a matter of time before I accidentally leave a set of skidmarks in Greggs

I'd happily take this M5 for a fang, and the 2002 turbo that was parked next to it.
But the most ferirocus beast is the blue jazz 🤣

Thanks Albert! It's a bit slow and indulgent compared to my usual video style, but hey... back to normal business soon!

great review as usual but doesn't make sense to have a lightweight m5 CS because M5 is not a race car there is no sports heritage for it , the M4 is the endurance race car for bmw

This and a 991.2 911 GT3 Touring manual as a 2 car daily garage? It would be nice to be CH

A very detail question, do you know if it allow for a roofrack/skibox with that carbon roof? Quite important given there's no ski hatch..

It would be great if you could try and get an Alpina B5 to compare and see if the legendary suspension is noticeably different

I wonder if an M5 CS map for the gearbox will come for ‘regular’ or garden M5 Comps?

I admire it, but I don’t crave it. Beyond my price range regardless but for me it would be too compromised. I need storage inside the car. I like my rear passengers to have an arm rest. I like a sunroof. The last omission I can understand (although I personally lamented the move to carbon-roofed M5s some years ago) but those other areas, to me, are strange. And the rear seats, too. Doubt our dog would like it, as it would mean he couldn’t snuggle up with our daughter in the back as normal. I’m far too practical these days. Admiration. But not want.

Does the spitfire have isofix for car seats? Could be a great daily.
