The software system and functionality of the tech is not as good as this car. This thing is better in ever category, to me. The only electric car id ever consider is Porsche taycan turbo s. Porsche is nothing but Quality and excellence, therefore I’d go with that, but that car cost more than this one.
I drove the last generation M5 a few months ago. WOW is the only way to describe a modern M5. That Twin Turbo V8 engine is amazing to drive and experience. Here's to the end of the modern M5 line up.
Hey Doug, I really love your videos! However, I’d love to maybe see different cam angles when you do the test drive (for example the tachometer when you accelerate, the interior, wenn you explain something about it or else) Otherwise, fantastic video as ever😃

@@clw132 Doug is not really a fast driver, he never pushes the cars. Which is why I often disagree with some of his reviews when it comes to handling. Having a car 'feel precise' when you're not pushing it is ... well ... I remember the review of the Acura TLX Type S. He said it was fast, strong powertrain, but poor handling. I totally disagree. The powertrain is rubbish (transmission and engine with insane lag, ugh) but the chassis, while heavy, is very well balanced, good grip, and sh-awd is real nice too. Overall I don't think it's a great car, but its downfall is the weight and powertrain, not the handling. It's the one thing it actually does well...
I recently started admiring this car a few days ago, and the fact that a review of it from my favorite car reviewer just came out makes me love it even more
630HP and is almost as fast as a 1000HP tesla model X plaid. It provides instant torque and smooth power delivery while also handling better and having better build quality. Great car even tho im not a huge fan of bimmers
Great review. Great car. One thing: the infotainment absolutely can show multiple things at once by pressing the little home icon in the upper left at 14:35 or the little icon that looks like a square and two rectangles in the upper left at 14:46 (that icon is meant to look like the multiple widgets or tiles the screen can show).
Hey Doug, small correction. In fact you are able to use stanav and radio at once, you just need to activate split screen option by pulling the lever to the right.
I love how new cars can accelerate from 0 to 60mph in less than 3 seconds, yet whenever the light turns green most drivers can only get to 35 by the time they get to the next light. Infinite power crippled by infinite traffic.
Performance BMW are masterpieces, look at that hood, absolutely fulfill, no waste space at all... Engineering state of art, and most important a lap time monster, Germans don't give a fork about quarter mile... That's the BMW's hellcat just before the first turn
It’s an absolute automotive perfection! 👌🏼Such a joy that cars like this exist! I’d personally choose the M5 Competition as i prefer a more grand-tourer kind of vehicle, but don’t me wrong! This track-focused CS also blows my mind! 🤩
Some people include fuel efficiency and comfort on normal roads to the practicality section. But agreed, a 4 door super car sedan should get more than 4.
practicality includes things like ride comfort, visibility, and overall ease of use. I don't like Teslas much but I guarantee you the plaid is more comfortable than this car to drive normally.
@@mr.bombastic1173 What are you smoking bro? Tesla with 20 000 pound batteries and suspension like a solid steel bar. There is no way Tesla is even near the BMW. Also, the Teslas breaks are outright dangerous
Totally agree to give it the lowest score among these cars seems a little strange. given a sensible score on the practicality would put this car top of the list IMO
The Guys from the "Grip Magazine" tested it in a Dyno, and it had around 700hp and abou 900Nm of Torque Bmw is known for underrating their sports-car specs
Still With all that, the best class in my opinion is the luxurious m550i, it has a sunroof instead of carbon, and from the outside it is beautiful and has eight cylinders.

That was the first time I’ve ever heard Doug redline out of all of videos 21:52. This guy is most likely an incredible driver. Thanks for giving the M5 CS the beans!
No thanks. Many of my relatives have BMWs... the 7 series, the 5 series, the Ms, you name it. They are nothing but a huge money pit that only depreciates in value, quickly too ! I remember searching for basic maintenance parts for my father in law...BMW changes the part numbers regularly to prevent you from doing any service yourself. You can't even change the battery without reprogramming the car and entering the battery information. Lease it and dump it.
Another German car that yet again explains why, You simply can’t top German engineering. Well done German car engineer’s you did it again. BMW and the rest of the big 3 Porsche, Mercedes - Benz and Audi are absolutely great with luxury and performance vehicles.
I really don’t understand why people complain about iDrive 7. It’s one of the easiest to use infotainment systems on the market. It’s a shame that the new iDrive 8 is so complicated. FYI, Doug, BMW iDrive has had “split screen” since 2009. Which allows you to split audio and navigation on the screen.
14:35 - correction, idrive 7 has a split screen function and you can also configure default home screen to show two or four different "screens" or widgets if you want to.
This car is amazing and I totally believe BMW downplays the numbers on their 'CS' cars and wouldn't be surprised if the actual power figure is closer to 700hp.. Someone needs to do a proper Dyno on this so we can see what its actually putting down
You've seen people claiming 200hp gains with a tune for example but it's really more like normal 100hp gains because they're all underrated. When they say 640, what they meant to say was 640 at the wheels from the lowest of the sampled cars lol.
European car manufacturer power and torque specs are AT THE WHEELS, always, how do people still fail to realize this. US cars have power figures at the crank. That's why their power rates are higher than what you get. BMW just tells you the real power figure.
Amazing cars? They are a known disaster car in the UK, they are so unreliable its beyond the pale and the performance tails off almost immediately with bms junk plasma arc weld crappy liners.
@@bigduphusaj162 you're spewing BS and you know it. or maybe you just regurgitate BS you have heard, which is even worse. the "unreliable BMW" days are over since more than a decade. you probably don't even have a license let alone ever drove/owned any M products lol

This is a truly brilliant car. The world
Been missing this. This thing is so impressive so amazing. Best sedan ever built ever. It’s got so much for the money it’s amazing. Better than any car under 450k
Is it really that good? What seperates it from the likes of a GT63s? Just curious
@@SimonJack94 better performance, there not even close. This car I watched beat a SVJ lambo and a nissian gtr nissmo. Also for the money, it’s slightly cheaper and you get more car for your dollar.
Look into Tesla model s plaid ;)
@@xWinstonski that’s a piece of junk. A complete waste of money. Nothing hand built or hand done. The parts quality from interior to exterior are the worst and cheapest qualify you can get. The software system and functionality of the tech is not as good as this car. This thing is better in ever category, to me. The only electric car id ever consider is Porsche taycan turbo s. Porsche is nothing but Quality and excellence, therefore I’d go with that, but that car cost more than this one.
@@AlexandertheGreat033 he’s just a troll😂
But I would also consider Audis Etron GT
I drove the last generation M5 a few months ago. WOW is the only way to describe a modern M5. That Twin Turbo V8 engine is amazing to drive and experience. Here's to the end of the modern M5 line up.

Hey Doug, I really love your videos! However, I’d love to maybe see different cam angles when you do the test drive (for example the tachometer when you accelerate, the interior, wenn you explain something about it or else)
Otherwise, fantastic video as ever😃
Nice try copper
Can you hit the track someday Doug? Need to see you pushing these beasts for real!
He wouldnt want to, he already says he is kinda scared of those expensive cars and I think Thats reasonable.
The day he crasehs any car is the day many people will decide they wont give him their car.
@@cyjanek7818 The cars tested on a track should be insured... Doug just isn't a good enough driver to it make sense for him to drive on the track
Man he doesn’t look like he can drive like that. But never too late to start and practice.
@@ThePussukka It doesn't stop Matt Farrah from going out there. Guy is a butcher on the track
I recently started admiring this car a few days ago, and the fact that a review of it from my favorite car reviewer just came out makes me love it even more
it's my all time favorite bmw, and that's no easy feat, cus people who know me know that I'm not always fond of bmw

630HP and is almost as fast as a 1000HP tesla model X plaid. It provides instant torque and smooth power delivery while also handling better and having better build quality. Great car even tho im not a huge fan of bimmers
Looks a million dollars compared to the plaid too

Great review. Great car. One thing: the infotainment absolutely can show multiple things at once by pressing the little home icon in the upper left at 14:35 or the little icon that looks like a square and two rectangles in the upper left at 14:46 (that icon is meant to look like the multiple widgets or tiles the screen can show).
Hey Doug, small correction. In fact you are able to use stanav and radio at once, you just need to activate split screen option by pulling the lever to the right.
Yeah i have heard more than a couple of this kind of mistakes from him already. From other previous videos not just in this one.
I love how new cars can accelerate from 0 to 60mph in less than 3 seconds, yet whenever the light turns green most drivers can only get to 35 by the time they get to the next light. Infinite power crippled by infinite traffic.
Because most people aren’t ripping off the line when the light turn green

It’s an absolute automotive perfection! 👌🏼Such a joy that cars like this exist! I’d personally choose the M5 Competition as i prefer a more grand-tourer kind of vehicle, but don’t me wrong! This track-focused CS also blows my mind! 🤩
How does the CS get only 4 points in practicality when a similar-sized Plaid gets 7? The CS should be a the top of the all important Doug score!
comparing a tesla to a real car... lolololol
Hellcat? 😂
This thing is legendary. It's a shame for You, Doug, to compare this masterpiece to hellcat
Exactly, Hellcat is just to show up. This M5 can compete with any modern sport car.
Well at $70K more than a Hellcat, it's not even in the same category... Almost twice the price.
Honestly, this masterpiece should not be compared to such a monumental car!!

Good job with your content as always Doug.

People do not complain really. BMW's multimedia is best for years already.

14:35 - correction, idrive 7 has a split screen function and you can also configure default home screen to show two or four different "screens" or widgets if you want to.
the caterpillar on the tire when talking about the brakes is by far my favorite part of this video
This car is amazing and I totally believe BMW downplays the numbers on their 'CS' cars and wouldn't be surprised if the actual power figure is closer to 700hp.. Someone needs to do a proper Dyno on this so we can see what its actually putting down
It’s around 700
You've seen people claiming 200hp gains with a tune for example but it's really more like normal 100hp gains because they're all underrated. When they say 640, what they meant to say was 640 at the wheels from the lowest of the sampled cars lol.
yea usually BMW is quite modest with they're 0-60 and BHP figures.
European car manufacturer power and torque specs are AT THE WHEELS, always, how do people still fail to realize this. US cars have power figures at the crank. That's why their power rates are higher than what you get. BMW just tells you the real power figure.

This video is a prime example of what our old friend Dostoyevski once said “One day, tolerance will reach such a level, that intelligent people will be banned from thinking, so as not to offend the imbeciles”
My message are to those imbeciles who thought reproducing perfect was possible:
A short trip down memory lane will remind you that the E39 M5 is and will always remain the undisputed, pound for pound champion when it comes to manifesting naturally aspirated exhilaration up your spine and into your ocular nerve, solidifying you with the road while the S62 orchestrates its harmonic melodies throughout the cabin.
