Playing Armored Core 6 but it's a ROGUELIKE

- Tired of playing Armored Core 6 the boring old regular way? Try playing it like a Roguelike. This AC6 challenge run was created by IAmNotConnie, with the help of a few other people. It aims to turn Armored Core 6 into a Roguelike, by adding a few rules you have to abide by while playing through the game. This includes the addition of permadeath, randomized equipment you will receive after completing missions, and a pretty underpowered starting AC.
Shoutout to IAmNotConnie for making this challenge. If you want to try it out yourself: / ac6_the_roguelike_chal...

Also if you were wondering, I had to mute the video from 16:09 to about 16:17. One of the funnier bits in the video but I got a copyright claim like 8 hours after the videos release :)
What was the song?
What I really like about that is that it's people making their own fun. It's something a lot of people seem incapable of doing.
Damn near everyone is capable of making their own fun; people generally just don't like paying $60 for something that requires extra work to have fun with.
Note: obviously, AC6 doesn't require extra work to have fun with; just saying, from their perspective.
Just playing the regular way is hard. I made it to the Cliffhanger boss before I upgraded my mech. I kept running out of ammo and getting wrecked.
at first you getting that KRSV felt like the equivalent of that time when AM from I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream gave the starving humans access to cans of food... but they had no can opener
I honestly think the roguelike formula would be perfect for an AC game. The original AC had elements vaguely reminiscent of a roguelike with the Human+ upgrades you got as you failed playthroughs by wracking up intense debt, which made an otherwise extremely difficult game more approachable. I think it ties in well to the Debt that was present in older games - you were constantly calculating cost and force, and finding *efficient* solutions to your missions was a very huge priority - something that was lost in this particular iteration of the franchise. In AC1, you could just blitz in with the biggest baddest weapons, and end up walking away with your job completed at a loss. AC6 wasn't like that. I understand why it wasn't, but I would love to see a proper roguelike AC. I also think roguelike qualities and your options for builds being restricted adds new value to otherwise useless parts. The biggest, baddest options cost the most money, and you don't have enough money for it all... it makes the cheaper stuff a lot more valuable.
this showcase of my brainchild is satisfactory. I will slide you one (1) right arm weapon under the table. the weapon may or may not be the jamming bomb launcher.
Praying for it to be a Karasawa again, which I will surely keep because I will never die again.
Completed my first roguelike a run a while ago now and ended up with dual turner's and mlt-10's on a reverse joint. Had a lot of fun with it!
I've been having fun with this myself, but I had to change the rules to make repeat playthroughs actually fun after the 7th or so time.
I roll for one part in each category (weapons, body, and system) before every run, so the first stages aren't repetitive. I also pull two parts base every mission instead of one.
i hope someone makes this a fully functional mod for the game cuz i think this works really well with what armored core is as a game
especialy if they are able to add more parts or add optional objectives to levels
also love the choices in music for the edit
Ahh there goes my chance to play a different game instead, guess I'm adding another couple hundred hours to my AC6 game time
Hey, as long as you are having fun it's gonna be worth it ;D
I saw the game on sale and fell in love with it. I stayed up all night when I bought it, I passed out and was almost an hour late for work on 3 hours of sleep. Funny enough, my shift manager expected me to be late and didn’t blow up my phone. Just a text while on my way to work, “are you coming in today?”
I actually suggested this to fromsoft in the big feedback survey!! I also said put make mode specific parts that make builds absolutely nutty
EX: a internal part that doubles the amount of missiles launched
This kind of modifier would be perfect for casual PvP rooms. Stuff like infinite generators, double missiles, no overheating and, damage modifiers could all be really be tons of fun
Im doing a ac data run with each characters acs to see if its possible to beat the entire game with each one of their unique acs. Gonna teat my patience for sure. Especially since im not a fan of the tank legs or quad legs...
I've heard of this run too, will probably attempt it myself sometime soon!
This is awesome, I’ll def be playing this game tonight. Oh and I LOVE those dual homing missiles. They’re beefy, do tons of impact damage, and stick around forever. Those plus the Javelin Beta are a mean combo on a keepaway rifle build with ransetsus or Harris as primaries.
Edit: getting pulse blade right before Balty is totally clutch. It was uncharacteristically generous of From to give us such an amazing melee weapon to start with.
Can't someone turn this challenge into an actual mode
I’d like to see someone do a Gen. 1-3 AC challenge run, characterized by:
- No repair kits
- No Hard Lock
- No Expansions
Mmh... Imma note that down.
@@upper_case_T Thank you for considering it. If you (or anyone else) wants to make it more faithfully painful, start from a fresh save file (meaning you have to do the first mission and have no pre-existing part library), and don't use Quick-Boost (since it didn't exist in-game until 4th Gen.; though, I always considered it to have existed in-universe for Gen. 1-3). The latter may be much less feasible considering the "No repair kits" clause.
We really do need a rogue-like mode.
The more ways we can play the game, the better.
Yea ill be trying that challenge that sounds incredible
This is an amazing idea props to the creator. I was just challenging myself with bs builds. Cant wait to try it out!
Also good video keep it up^^
Helps the games replay value, now we just need enemy and dialogue randomizers and we are set! It would be a new battle every time
This with the armory mod would be insane
I already done it with no arena battle but minus the permadeath.
It was a really good experience. Also getting secret dialogue from ALLMIND in the arena is worth it 😂
For the parts, I make do with only use parts that the enemies' AC that I defeat in the mission was using.
I would love for this to be a mod, Maybe make it so that the Store unlocks random parts at specific intervals, then you gotta take the risk of replaying missions to earn enough Coam to buy the parts, Also maybe make an ingame tracker for the special objectives.
Yeah that would be amazing, maybe someone will pick up this idea
That Furi music hits hard.
I miss not having multiple save files. IMO, new game plus runs are not as fun as fresh runs. I had done everything on my first save file, except for S ranking everything but I deleted the save file just to do fresh challenge runs. (AC Data and decal data remains, fyi) Still, this does look fun.
Ok this looks like a lot of fun I'm game.
Ooh I sure do hope you get lots of right hand weapons!
You know what? I think I will try it. After I beat fucking All Mind!
Stun bomb launcher used to be so busted for pvp(for like 4 days) then got nerfed to hell
That sounds kinda awful to fight against
@@iamthereddemon20 Stryker hutasa has a tourney video of it if you want to see what it was like
Love the vids and community y’all’s are great
Appreciate it!
Can't believe I missed Sulla getting you twice live...
Very nice video though, looking forward to the next parts! (hopefully they are right-handed)
We got one right arm Unit last time so now the game's easy, never gonna die again :)
16:07 bro has face "style switcher"
Can't wait for the Ibis fight.
Oh don't worry, I can wait!
Very creative and fun🎉
last raven mode
the streams was super fun
the booster curse was strong.... still is
My luck is gonna turn around any time now... Surely.
*insert megamind meme* No Karasawa?
using that one in the next video lmao
I'm confused, why didn't you set a checkpoint after Balteus? The wnd of a chapter seems like the natural place to put one.
I still hate that they nerfed baltheus and mechalania
Someone should turn this into a mod
Is there a way to just reset the OS Tuning? I have unlocked everything on my current save and would like to try this.
one question can you switch between your picked up parts
Yup!
Crap this looks really fun. However since I don't think there's a way to "reset" a run, you basically play through the game via mission replay right? Is there a list of the missions in order, to make this easier?
Yep, I actually started on a new playthrough so I could follow the missions that way, but I personally am just going for a "New Game" playthrough. So I'm not doing the new missions unlocked in NG+ (not yet at least).
@@upper_case_T I'm ashamed to say I also died to Sulla on my first run. I even got some pretty good weapons, the Gou Chen Bazzoka, a 4 cell missile launcher, and the Lamm Tetrapod legs! Adsafsdfasdf after watching this video I was like "There ain't no way I'll die to Sulla like this TH-camr, I'm better than that!" Ahh the pride before the fall LOL. What makes it worse was how close it was. I'm doing it Rougelite style since that's my preferred ruleset, so next time I'll be armed with Kicks hahaha.
Kinda dumb to start with no weapons imo every run starts like a wet noodle
Alright you have convinced me to try it out myself However I will post every acquisition of a right arm weapon in the discord as I very subtly make fun of you
haha surely I'm not the only one with this crazy luck... Right? hahaha :)
@@upper_case_T My next mission is the Balteus fight and so far i actually have a pretty grear build, i will probably flex with it some time later today after beating Balteus (hopefully)
