O-rings are available (Dillon Bros. Partsfish) You can also look up the OEM sizes on Partsfish and source them through Grainger or McMaster Carr. You have to get the right sizes or they will leak. Many aftermarket gasket kits come with incorrect sized O-rings.
I would only use sealant on a gasket if the one of the mating surfaces is damaged. Clean everything up well, torque everything properly and let the gasket do its job.

I should have mentioned that: This engine was put into an 83, which has a gear position indicator. I wanted it to still be functional, so, I acquired a front cover with the gear position switch from a salvaged 83. I had to do considerable modifications to the shifting drum to make it work correctly. It's not something that should be done by the average DIYer. If you still want it to shift gears correctly. But, this now has 12,000 miles on it and its running strong. Thanks for watching.

Unfortunately one can't buy OEM parts as you suggest. When I asked the Honda agent, they were listed as discontinued.

Could you use copper seal for the gasket ? Or just grease ?

You said this is a 1980 gl 1100 ?? I have a 1980 and my front cover is a little different,I don’t have the electric switch on the cover
