  • Hey guys!
    Here's my video showing you how I rebuild a Honda Goldwing GL1100 into a Cafe Racer. The plan is to put it together with custom carbon fiber pieces, made by me. Check out my previous carbon fiber videos if you're interested. Part 2 will be coming soon! Really pleased with how this came our. If you watched all the way through leave a comment below and let me know what you think!
    Enjoy! Thanks for watching.

      @@zrcarbon9937 yes, a 1977, bit of a mess but getting there, frame powder coated and ready, brakes done, color scheme selected. Carbs are 75% done, waiting for some seals for the cams, rebuilt the top end as I got it with a belt broken and had to check if the valves were bent. All good now I can turn it over by hand. Should look good in the end, just finished a CB 750 cafe racer and the wing will be slimmed down and customized as well. Keep up your videos!! Awesome

    Interesting! Though this video leaves me with even more questions than answers. What bore and stroke did you choose for this rebuilt engine? How much wider did you bore the cylinders? What are the new pistons you chose? What new camshafts have you chosen? How much more lift, duration and what difference is there of the timing? How much more torque and horsepower are you aiming for? What are the new gear ratios in the refreshed transmission? Thanks a lot! 🙂

      Hey
      I left everything like original. Only got new bearings and piston rings when I rebuilt the engine.
      The bike only had 40K miles in when I took it to apart. It was stored horribly and I decided to powder coat the engine. That was the only reason why I rebuilt the whole thing. 🏍🛠🤟

      @@zrcarbon9937 Cool, I am about to rip out the engine and revisited your vids. I was dumbfounded as to where that engine went, or what bike it went into. Did you do that for someone? ebay used stuff is 90% junk. not many used parts I ever got were usable so I stopped buying used ebay crap. I'd rather go out and buy a old stored bike cheap and part it out after I get donw with what I need. Which Really is what I did, BUT, My 83 is hugely different than the 81 I bought. Heck even 82 Aspencade parts are hugely different. not so much in the engine parts but brakes, (pistons and seals) in 83 H0nda started using a linked brake system that was continued onward but did not exist before 83. *2 also has a different set of pistons and seals. 80/81 are single piston brakes. 82 dual fronts and 83 dual front with 2 different size pistons.

    Great video! I'm rebuilding a 75 right now and almost ready to join the two cases. Is the spring compressors really necessary for the left half case pistons? The manual says the left case cylinder bottoms are chamfered and don't need the compressor but this is the second video I've seen where they use them.

    • @zrcarbon9937
      @zrcarbon9937  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey!
      Yes you will need the piston ring compressor.
      Don’t bother to buy them just use two hose clamps. Those will work better and cheaper than the ring compressors.
      Thanks for watching!

    Bro.... Million $$ question.... How'd ya get the oil site glass out?? And the a replacement? I currently rebuilding 3 wings.. 75, an 81 and an 83 Aspencade...

    • @zrcarbon9937
      @zrcarbon9937  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey man!
      I used gentle heat and size 10 socket to get it out. Re used the same glass. If the rubber is broken you can disassemble the site glass. Drill through the back about 3-4mm and the bolt will come out. Clean the rubber off the glass and you can install just a plain bolt m5 with rubber seal inside and outside or just use JB weld. You’ll see what I’m talking about when you get going in the project.

    • @gc33

      Im not 100% sure but I think the sight glass from Suzuki's Dl1000 and 650 also may fit. I need to confirm pricing but would be cheaper than bmw at $70 australian...

    • @zrcarbon9937

      Change the oil and have a look how bad it is. Have a look at the metal mesh. You can pull it out and look for metal pieces in there.
      I used some JB weld to fix a bolt after I took the glass wiper out. unfortunately for this part is difficult to find a replacement.
