Hi, I wonder if there is anything else needed to be done beside having program the new key and have the key cut to match the original (I assume the after market will be flat)? Thank you
@@vectox001 hello. Sorry i only record videos on vehicles i own / jobs i complete on them so im unable to say weather or not this will work on your specific vehicle. Sorry.
I have a problem I get one from eBay do all the step u say to do but it accepts the code and cycle unlock and lock but when try to use the remote it doesn’t work.. help please..
I have a working key and I have a key where the lock unlock buttons no longer function but open the doors and start my car even after changing the battery. Can I just swap out the inner key fob part with the buttons and program it to my car and keep the original already cut key without needing a locksmith?
@@StevenMeltz hey there. It depends if the "chip" thats programmed is seperate from the "lock/unlock" board inside the key head. If the key with the fob still works, you should ne able to do what i show in my video to simply reprogram the fob portion. Best of luck!
@@blueglovemechanic Thank you - I've ordered an OEM replacement on Amazon that should be here in a week. I'll update this post so others know if it works for me or not.
@@blueglovemechanicjust as a follow up for anyone who has their working key but the board stopped working for lock/unlock/panic. You can get the OEM replacement and swap out just the internals and continue using your old already cut key without the need for a locksmith.
@@StevenMeltzso I was able to follow all the steps in this video with my new key from Amazon - the car beeps and it seems like it worked but when I remove my valet key and try to lock/lunlock with my new key, it still doesn’t work! My plan was to program the new fob and then swap out the uncut key with the cut key from the old fob- I even tried swapping the small block from of the fob-heads I assumed was the proximity sensor?? I put my old key and the new uncut key+new fob all in the car, used the valet key, followed all the steps AGAIN with no luck! Does the part number need to be stamped on the new key fob? The number on the bag that the replacement arrived in matches the number on my old key and fob so I assumed it would be programmable! Any suggestions??? I appreciate it!!
Yes, you can have something like 4 keys programmed at a time. The only thing is youll still need the new key chip programmed to the car by a locksmith. This video was more so to show how to program the fob (unlock/lock function)
Hey there. You can get one direct from the dealer or buy online at places like ebay. I would recommend doing your research to ensure you purchase the correct part # however as there can be multiple different part #'s for the same year/make/model. Again, even after the new remote portion is programmed and blank key cut it will need to be programmed by a locksmith so unless all youre looking to just have the remote with a non programmed key id recommend just calling your local locksmith and have them order/cut/program. Best of luck!
I do everything it takes the code it cycles at the end but when try to use the remote to lock and unlock it doesn’t work any help I got it from eBay..thanks
Did you run into similar issues trying to program other keys/aftermarket keys? Comment below!
Yes I tried to program an aftermarket remote for this vehicle and it didn't program.
