Thanks, you're a life saver 😂 we got stuck next to a nice restaurant and the fob quit. So we were irritating them with noise for a bit. When we finally found this video and got it shut off they all applauded 😅

OH MY GOODNESS. THANK YOU THANK YOU
THANK YOU FROM A SENIOR LADY !!!!. I had let my new battery run down in my little car, because of this Virus mess, I don't go anywhere very often. Two days ago, My daughter and I tried to jump it off with a little portable power starter and my car thought it was being stolen !! Alarms went off like crazy, and after 3 tries we gave up because the car wouldn't start and was acting DEAD as a doornail. No lights whatsoever. Hahaha
So tonight she came back with jumper cables, and everytime we tried, the alarm went off. We were so frustrated, but then,
    I FOUND YOUR VIDEO !!!!!
I got back in the car and wenr through your 3 × 3 steps, and she reconnected the jumper cables and started her car, I turned my little Subie's key, and HALLELUJAH !!
    She started right up !!!
Bless you for posting this video because you probably saved this Grandma a $500.00 garage bill. Again, Thank You So Very Much

I've gotten so much help from TH-cam videos, I'm glad to be sharing the same.

This worked!! Thank you! Before, if I even looked at my car wrong the alarm would go off! I had to leave my doors unlocked 24/7 in fear of the alarm sounding and keeping me from turning over the ignition. Thank you so much

Thanks for the video. Especially the photo and story about your dad's van. I agree that car alarms should be disabled. My '06 Outback was a similar but a little different. 1) Turn ignition switch on. 2) Hold down lock switch for 10 seconds, opening door within the first second. 3) Horn beeps quickly twice and display shows Alm on or off.

It was explained in my owners manual in chapter 2.

You are right, except as the manual says, after turning the ignition switch on, you hold down the "unlock" switch for ten seconds and open the door within the first second. The Alarm was turned off when I tried it (per Alarm Off light that displayed under the speedometer), but the Red alarm light still kept flashing to discourage any would be thieves.

Alright I did it and it seemed to work!! I have been having ghost alarm issues with it going off in the middle of the night waking me up almost having a heart attack and my neighbors in my apartment probably freaking out! I thought it was a key fob issue because it got rained on but I dont think that was the issue.
Thanks for the video man! Really appreciate it

      Glad it helped!
The ghost alarm thing is sometimes the door switch, that the door doesn't push it in far enough. A couple of pieces of duct tape sometimes help take up the space.

Have the same car and was trying to deactivate the alarm this evening. Read the procedure in the manual but didn’t have any luck, but was toggling the key a bit slower. Will try it faster in the morning and see how it goes.

Yeah, quick procedure. Also, windows up, doors & hatch closed, seatbelt on.

Hey Eugene, thank you! That worked on my 2005 Subaru Impreza. Now my security light flashes all the time even when the door is unlocked, open, or when I’m driving. Any advice on how to turn off that light?

Hi Riot Shield, I tried the same method and no luck.
      The horn still beeps.
Exactly how did you disable yours?
The vehicle I have is a 2005 Legacy

  • @milestone_achiever4634

Hi. I did this exact method and the alarm is still not disabled. The best thing to do in my opinion is to either disconnect where the alarm is connected to the horn or simply just take out the alarm unit altogether
Does anyone one know where the alarm unit is located in the dash board area?
In 2006 Foresters, it's an alpine unit
