ADVICE IF YOU ARE HAVING PROBLEMS: I hope this saves sometime the trouble I went through. I bought this because my old fob would program but wasn’t working. When I went to program the new one, I would get a constant beeping and the car would not accept the new serial number. After a few tries, I realized I still had my old fob with me with the battery in it (even though it no longer functioned). I WAS ONLY ABLE TO PROGRAM THE NEW FOB AFTER I TOOK THE BATTERY OUT OF THE OLD FOB, EVEN THOUGH THE OLD FOB DID NOT WORK AT ALL. Also, as a side point, mine is a 2009 manual Impreza and i did not have to hold my clutch in during the programming process. Hope this helps. Thanks for the video!

You're awesome. Out of the other videos out there, none of them showed that after the 10th switch on, you need to turn the key back to the lock position and leave it there. Bought a new fob from Subaru because my old one was on the fritz. Kept thinking I was in valet mode because my 06 WRX wasn't honking, chirping, or cycling the lights, but it was all user error by me not leaving that key at the lock position after the 10th switch.
Since I was struggling with the nuances and not many people have posted for this year of Subaru - With the 2006 WRX there are some differences. The car will let out one long chirp after opening and closing the door, after the 10th switch cycle.
From there it chirps to confirm the entry of each digit. On the re-entry it will chirp repeatedly until you start to re-enter the digits to confirm. After you've confirmed one more long chirp when you open and close the door, and then a short 2-3 chirps when you remove your key from the ignition switch. As with all the other tutorials, test your fob out after the keys are out of the ignition.

Thanks, first couple times I tried I missed hitting unlock(enter) at the end of the sequence of numbers each time.
Ok, I also missed the need to enter the numbers twice as I was trying to write down the steps because audio processing ain’t my strong suit. 😂
Either way on my successful attempt the fob didn’t work when I tested it during the process but once I pulled my key and gave it 30s it now recognizes the new fob just fine!
Two other notes that would have saved me time. First, the battery in old fob was fine but the battery in the new fob was DOA (this didn’t trip me up because I tested it in my known working fob before attempting to program but could have caused a ton of frustration!). Second, stupid simple mistake that stumped me for a second was that my aftermarket fob has the number carved on the back instead of on a sticker inside the casing.
Thanks again, this worked like a charm on my 2011 forester once I figured out the parts I missed!
