  • Welcome to the fourth instalment of The Hobby Heap and the start of my new series, The Road to 2000 Points! I'm going to be uploading videos on my progress to completely paint a 2000 point T'au Warhammer 40k army.
Again, thank you for all your support and I hope you enjoy!

Proud of you for tackling your pile of s̶h̶a̶m̶e̶ opportunity. Models looks great! Would love to see you tackling weathering on one of the bigger suits, like a relic battlesuit that's seen some serious fighting.
p.s. Random bits on the model are called gubbins.

Thanks dude! We will get a fully painted game of 40k in one day I promise haha.
Definitely gonna attempt some weathering on a bigger battlesuit like unit in the future…

I know the circles on the guns are stabilizers, and it would make sense for that to be on the thrusters. Not as sure about the arm, but I guess that could be stabilized too

The added fern is the best bit. Beautifully painted but more models should have plants on em, 5*s

I think those gold bits are gyros (at least on the joints), which I imagine are some kind of high tech T'au device to give greater range of motion than a normal limb (so for example the arm could bend backwards where an elbow would ordinarily stop you from moving)

i think they are gyros as well. you can see them on the infantry guns, guessing it helps to stabilise them for better shooting.

Thanks alot. Is there any other details apart from just more layers to consider when painting my xv104 riptide battlesuit?

I think on a larger model, using more of the accent colour like grey helps to break up all the red. Also have a look for plasma glow tutorials to help make that Ion Accelerator look amazing!
