My favorite part of this was "Where is the fun?" song where Flappy Bob is at a devastating crossroads from denying the fact that the Pixies were just using him for a grand scheme but they were sort of nice while Timmy was just kind of an asshole but kinda tells him that there's more to life than just being a business man for a place that was meant to keep kids safe but was a drag.
Also the song's instrumentals were awesome. Like damn they didn't have to go that hard.

I always thought after this flappy bobs might have become a bit more of what it was probably soposed to be ,safer then kids just being free to do stuff on their own but also fun like the worst injury is from kids not following obvious rules and they have people who can fix up injuries like not absolute safety but safer since their are people watching them

One of the things I loved most about this special was how the fairies treated summer vacation like it was new years. I found it ironic and cute how the kids were excited to have fun and the fairies were excited to get to work. It implies how much fairies love their jobs and their godchildren and I find it so sweet.

From what I remember of the show, because of how structured yet cryptic it is, the legal system was one the few things fairy magic couldn’t affect(at least not much).
Remember Timmy couldn’t counterfeit or wish his parents out of jail, and the most magic could do to affect laws was summoning a lawyer to stop a genie.

It is the best song for Cosmo and Wanda, showing that they are literally each other's half. Which then hurts when Cosmo pulls all the "you're a nag, I'm trapped in this marriage, I have a huge crush on the Tooth Fairy" stuff, like I get being married for almost 10,000 years can lead to a few fights, but c'mon Cosmo if you thought all this about your wife who literally says she was lost in her life until she found you, then why didn't you get a divorce already? Were you scared of hurting her so deeply she would never want to look at you again, were you scared of her dad finding out? Sorry for the rambling.

I noticed that, with Summer starting in July and ending on Sept. 3rd. AND this may explain why Timmy still has Crocker for a teacher(not taking the 50 year time freeze into it). Some schools have you have the same teacher for multiple grades. And if Crocker is smart enough to teach at a College then I wouldn't doubt he has the education to teach fourth-sixth grade. But then their winter break ends the day after Christmas?

18:48 Yes! This is why I love this so much!
I love music but I’ve never been a fan of musicals compared to normal stories because it always feels like the songs have a habit of interrupting the narrative. This special uses the songs to continue it and I freaking love it! I honestly feel like more musicals should take notes from this one, which has amazing bangers. My favorite is The Pixies. It’s just so damn cool and catchy, which is hilariously ironic.

Fairy Idol? That's the special where I got the Pixies rap song confused (Sanderson sings a title song there that basically sounds like mid 2000s RnB) I forget the entire plot but I do remember the Genie and Chester playing huge parts of it.

    • @AggressivelyAverage

Fairy Idol is not actually considered a musical. There’s 6 songs total in that special and 4-5 of them are just short 20 second song parodies and only 1 or twin of them being an original song.

It's these constant moments that show up where you can tell he's mostly desperately padding the video to mae it "video essay length" when he doesn't actually have much to say about an FOP special he watched as a kid.
I feel like a LOT of "retrospective video essays" are just millenials' being nostalgic and trying everything they can to pad out the video because they feel like if they can make it into a "video essay", that SOMEHOW it'll make "I'm subjectively nostalgic" magically into a cerebral commentary.

10:03 I'm guessing it's a sort of DnD style magic. The pixies can do petty bits of magic on their own like changing the style of a car but still keeping it as a car or spraying water in someone’s face. Meanwhile, wishes can fundamentally change how a world operates. Which is why wanda couldn't do anything the pixies had control of fairyworld and their magic.

I saw this a few times growing up but never saw it fully, but Floating With You will ALWAYS be my favorite song from this, because it shows us that Cosmo and Wanda would be nothing that they are today without each other. Wanda probably would have joined her dad in the Garbage business and Cosmo would have probably been banished from Fairy World after all he'd done(If you ask me, his mom sending him to the Fairy Military was probably her last ditch attempt to keep him away from Wanda, but when he was discharged he found her, probably proposed to her, told his mama he was going out for milk in his wedding suit which she didn't even think twice on, then met Wanda at the chapel and they were wed. Then they went to the Godparent Academy to get their licenses and became godparents for as long as they had been married. They had so many good and bad ones that they loved, then they got two of the best gifts-Timmy and later their birth son Poof/Peri, the sons they treasure and love even to this very day).
After your description throughout this I cannot WAIT to watch it! I may find it actually more enjoyable as an adult because it can take me back to the time when I was kid just enjoying summer. Also at the beginning with HP and Sanderson driving a stick shift, I'm gonna say they stole it, or just made any car appear because they can drive it with magic, and that's why Sanderson isn't pushing the gas pedal. For Timmy to get to show us the caring side the show can't show all that often because time restraints is so sweet and refreshing, because it shows the type of kid Timmy truly is, he wants to enjoy his summer yes but if he sees someone being mistreated by someone he knows is up to no good he will help them find themselves again. He attempted it with Trixie but she rejected it out of fear of her social status, and he's always helping his friends or his parents...who mess it up usually, but hey he reunited Doug Dimmadome owner of the Dimmsdale Dimmadome with his son Dale Dimmadome who, 20 years later, would go on to be the biggest tech mogul with Dimmadome Global. All in all from the bare minimum I remember it was a good mini movie with banger songs that NEED to be fully released on some music service now.
Thank you for reading this, and one last thing is I hope Betty is in a better place and Flappy Bob and his birth parents are happy and whole at whatever circus they are performing at(You GO Mama Wanda for bringing another family back together!)

I found myself engaged with the schools out musical because I almost felt that flappy bob's character arc resembled a person coming out of the closet. It's almost eerie how symbolic it is. A man struggling to accept being a colorful, flamboyant person yet repressing it because of how he was raised to perceive what was the "correct" way to live. He even expresses in song how he's not prepared to accept himself. "But changing my life's a risk I'm not ready to take." I bet that resonates with LGBTQ people now more than ever. I know i'm reading too much into this, but it's a nice arc of a man coming to accept himself for who he is.

Depending on how many snow days schools get, some states push the final day of the school year off to mid-June (or somewhere in that area.)
Thus, the exact number of days and weeks of Summer Break differs all over

I still don't know how "The earth will be safe and fun as defined by flappy bob" broke the contract.
Yes, flappy's definition can change, but that's only effecting his knowledge and on Earth.
Control over fairy world is unrelated to the clause that effects Earth alone.
As well as flappy doesn't know what faires are so "used to be" doesn't include children having fairies. As it's "used to be as defined by flappy", so it's how he remembers how the world was. Which to him only he had "rich people with the power to change things".

    • @Songal18

I'm sure Timmy added to it to fully turn things back to normal once the Contract was broken. And you know the Pixies would cover a lot in it that would link all together.

Honestly, I still think about this special. But I think it could be better than it was if some things of the current age were there. Plenty of Broadway actors and actresses make appearances with animated TV shows. Like Neil Patrick Harris in Penguins of Madagascar and Batman the Brave and the Bold. Or James Monroe Igleheart in Tangled.

Out of all of the Fairly OddParents TV species/movies, I think School's Out! was the cream of the top and my favorite special ever (Fairy Idol being a close second--can you even say that special would be special with my fave villain Norm and his duet with Cosmo in the bop "Gimme The Wand"). All the songs were on point, especially from my other fave bad guys the Pixies, the story was great and really highlighted the kids' spirit realistically showing what might happen if they actually rule (like KND), and visuals and dialogue were great. It has a great message on fun, summer, and choosing your own path like Flappy Bob. Overall, 10/10 wands!

He was 10 Years Old, he should be selfish. And even then he wishes for his friends and family to have things to make themselves happy but THEY get selfish with whatever wish Timmy gives them. Then Timmy has to wish those things away so they don't do something really bad.

The strong anti-adult messages in this special (like way more than usual) to me serves as a great reminder of how much better A New Wish handles parenting in particular, especially in regards to its protagonist and her parents.
Because neither Angela nor Marcus are inherently terrible people, and are in fact quite likeable most of the time. It’s just that their jobs happen to be a bit on the demanding side- and even then, Marcus takes every opportunity he can get to spend time with Hazel, whom he has been shown constantly to have a very strong bond with. Likely in part because they’re both autistic but I digress 😂
In any case, when you consider the way the OG show portrayed the kids as flawed but the parents even more so, it stands to reason that a likeable but realistically flawed kid like Hazel would have likeable but realistically flawed parents to match. Just one of the dozens of reasons why A New Wish makes me so hesitant to go back to the original show because the reboot is just that good 😊

@@AggressivelyAverageWould be interesting though with “A new Wish” out. They could write a storyline of pixies targeting an unsuspecting adult Timmy Turner with Hazel and Dev trying to help without getting caught. Timmy could very well be the next Flappy Bob in their story. Maybe his memory was wiped so bad he forgot how to have fun.

    • @Songal18
      @Songal18 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@spectralight8412 Oh wow that would be painful to see. Imagine his love for his godparents ran so deep that the memory wiped had to be increased to keep Timmy from ever remembering all the good and fun he had from a kid to a teenager with the fairies he considered his family over his own family. All he remembers is the rotten treatment his birth parents gave him and the torture Vicky put him through and he does his best to be a good parent himself but he can't bring himself to have fun because having fun in his eyes as an adult is ignoring your kids and he won't ignore his kids but doesn't remember what it means to be a kid having fun. Perfect for the Pixies to get their revenge on and achieve their goal(until Timmy gets his memories back and beats the pixie dust out of HP and Sanderson, and any other Pixie involved).
