It is certainly a fun theory to listen to but I believe John Lasseter is telling the truth. The more movies they make, the easier it is to create such extravagant connections and theories. It's the same reason why many conspiracy theories gain traction to begin with.
The Curious Noob i dont think they planed it but if there any good at marketing they only ancewr they will every give to this is maybe they know your watching for it that good for them.
The Curious Noob Well if we take a look at videogames, there are a ton of easter-eggs in every modern game so far. And I think its not as a part of some plan to combine these games together, but simply that the creators of these games loved other games that they just left some personal touch in the new one. Sure some times it just comes up as a really good "connection" or link to other games, movies, etc. The same is fo animated movies, its just a personal touch of one or more artist who worked on that film. Just my opinion on this matter.
Okay, I don't mean to make an argument, but here's the list of when Pixar movies seemed to me like they took place in: 1.Toy Story seemed like it took place presently in the year 1995 2. A Bug's Life seemed like it took place presently in the year 1998 and I know there were no humans seen in the movie but it doesn't mean they could have not existed in the time of when the film took place in. 3. Monsters Inc seemed like it took place presently in the year 2001 but in a monster world that would be separate from the human world. Also, the doors were portals that helped the monsters enter rooms of children from the human world to do their jobs of freaking out the human children so they would get their power on. Although after Boo escaped into the monster world and after Sully took her back into the world she lived in, he decided to have the monsters make the children laugh so they could still get their power on. 4. Finding Nemo does seem like it takes place presently in the year 2003 and it is an agreement on the theory. 5. The Incredibles seemed like it took place presently in the year 2004 and what was 15 years before was 1989 and I saw a skateboard in the film and I know they weren't around during the mid-20th century so I just have a hard time believing this movie takes place in the mid-20th century. 6. Cars seemed like it took place presently in the year 2006 but in a universe of when cars would evolve just like living creatures and they didn't need help to be made by human beings like they do in the human world. 7. Ratatouille seemed like it took place in the 1950's because I didn't see anything that looked 2000's generated and I know Linguini and the old lady where Remy stole her cookbook from had TVs that looked too old fashioned to be new generated TVs. 8. Wall-e does seem like it takes place far in the future and it is an agreement I'm making on the theory. 9. Up seemed like it took place presently in the year 2009 and Carl's life seen in the film seemed like it took place from the 1930's to the 2000's. 10. Brave does seem like it takes place in the 14th century and that's an agreement on the theory. 11. Inside Out seems like it takes place presently in the year 2015 and I did see modern generated phones in the film. 12. The Good Dinosaur seems like it takes place in the early Pleistocene less than 65 million years after when they were supposed to be extinct and dinosaurs would have a chance too meet humans but like mammoths after the events of the film, dinosaurs got hunted down by humans to their extinction but when I heard the name "dragon" in the film Brave, some of them might have evolved into dragons.
lol people still on about this? Pixar's Jay Ward responded quite a while ago: "I think somebody had a lot of time on their hands. They may have had some other recreational activities... [...] It's almost like the 9/11 conspiracy theories... it's like, really? No, the movies were sort of made in a different order by different directors in different times, in different places. It's cool that it all worked out that way, but it probably was not intentional."
Agreed! This entire theory is grasping at straws throughout the entire thing. Also, it pretends that the endings of not one but TWO movies (Wall-E and Monsters, Inc.) don't even happen. It pretends that humans never return to Earth and it keeps getting more and more polluted until animals evolve into MONSTERS, and that Boo never sees Sully again. F**k this whole thing.
Humans are very good at finding patterns. It’s one of our strongest traits. It’s easy to make connections like this with hours and hours of plot content. Easter eggs exist yes but those are mostly just minor details of animators rather than an attempt to connect a large overarching narrative
Pixar is magic, where one can only fantasize, Pixar weaves reality, touchable and touching Pixar and its magic, are one, Love for everyone. ......... Enjoyed the connections story Cheers.
The Daily Conversation I agree with everything you said but I think it is best said that the monsters are what humans evolve/mutate to thanks in large part to B&L's toxic waste, because your way makes it seem as if the monsters just popped outta nowhere and took over without rhyme or reason.
Disney has explained that all of these are just "Easter Eggs" and that they have no real connection to the actual movie's stories. They are placed in films for people to look for and find, and for the Pixar staff to watch their viewers' reactions. I would love for your theory to be true, but I know that Disney would never really refer to these complicated theories in official form.
wait wait wait. When you say the witch in brave was boo, and that she turned brave's mother into a bear, you made a mistake. If she was trying to bring sully back, you forgot a small detail. Boo referred to sully as "kitty", indicating she thought of him more as feline
Whether or not this theory is true, It's one of the best, or at least most interesting in my opinion. At the very least its better than the theories revolving around a character in a coma, or "it was all a dream", I mean come on, that's such an easy way out.
I saw Inside Out a couple of days ago, I can confirm that Bing Bong is completely unrelated to a monster of any sort. This theory is still plausible when Inside Out is removed from the mix. And I don't think you should base any part of a theory on material that hasn't been fully released at its time of creation.
How do you know, its not like we saw every monster ever in monsters inc and monsters university. Maybe she was vistied by a monster that was never seen in the movie. I comepletly believe this theroy btw.
Celsius Narhwal I feel like that one boy that Riley bumped into could be Linguini (Ratatouille) :D And Colette looks like that girl with blue hair o: But that could be a stretch since in Ratatouille she has a thick French accent.
Celsius Narhwal Inside out fits into the theory because emotions are the things that monsters run on. At first, the monsters run on "fear" but "Happiness" says that happiness is the strongest emotion and that is what the monsters run on at the end of monsters inc.
luke collins Monster energy could also use sadness, though the monsters still considered it scream. Remember Boo's cries had a similar effect to when she screamed out of fear.
Infinight Moon Yes, they could use sadness or fear but happiness is the strongest emotion and would give the monsters the most energy which is why they use happiness instead of other emotions.
If you read John's blog (creator of this theory) it has more information and details about how this is possible , and that Elastigirl joke..............
Josh Romer when Sully creates the door through Boo's room at the end of Monsters, Inc. The theory says that Boo wanted to find Sulley she time traveled, well she wouldn't have to time travel because Sulley fixed the door and you can hear Boo's voice. The two can see each other anytime they wanted, unless the door can be only used once or was destroyed.
Unlike other Pixar theories like the one about Andy's mum, this is just excessive and unnecessary. It = feels like people really had to stretch to connect these films together. I can imagine Up and Wall-e or Monsters Inc and Inside out being in the same universe because their settings are so far apart but could fit in the same world, but there is no master plan or real story connections.
+Claudia Alvarez I'm pretty sure every released Pixar film could fit in the same universe (Monsters Inc. being set in two universes), except for two franchises...Cars and The Good Dinosaur. Now the Cars world COULD be set in the same universe as everything else, except that they refer to the years 2006-2010, so unless their dating system is from the death of humans or something, it is likely that the cars world is a separate universe altogether, and there's no reason it absolutely couldn't be the same universe as the one for The Good Dinosaur, in fact my theory is that they are the same universe, though until The Good Dinosaur is released it'll be tough to verify.
Liam Biniares it is all the same world, just at different points in time. That's what the theory suggests. The monsters live on earth in the very distant future. they go back in time to when humans lived on earth. Normal humans can't go into the monster world unassisted bc they don't have the technology or magic. But Boo, bc she is so determined to find Sully, find out how to time travel using magic and she eventually became the old witch in Brave
no...no it doesn't, magic is simply science we don't understand. Cavemen thought fire was magic, because they didn't understand, not because they didn't believe it Abel Pamuk

As Riley began growing up into a teen, she developed mixed emotions (probably the effects of puberty), and since the Monsters harvest these, mixed emotions could mean compound energy in their world. Think of it as producing oil with 50% alcohol in it, or something. The Monsters probably didn't want to risk the effect of compound, or mixed, energy into their daily lives, and therefore decided to leave the teens alone and focused on the much simpler and one-main-emotion kids.
If you look at the the scene in Monsters University when Mike goes into the real world, one of the girls looks like an older Boo. The other girls are surprised and happy, but Boo looks like she just saw an old friend. Mike of course would not recognize her because this is before he works on the Scare Floor at Monster's Inc.
+StewiebossFTW It hit the Earth in the universe all Pixar films except Cars and The Good Dinosaur are set in. For Cars, we're not sure yet how that world was made or what dinosaurs dying out have to do with it, exactly. We do know that the dinosaurs did die out in that world for the cars to gain their fossil fuels, but was it the meteor that killed them, or did they die much later? Maybe something else killed them. And I can guarantee you this: that answer will not come with the Good Dinosaur. In fact I'd be surprised if any real clues come in for connections between The Good Dinosaur and Cars, but I still think they are the same universe.
I went to your website and The Incredibles TOOK PLACE BETWEEN THE 50s AND 60s?!!Bob Parr was using a modern day computer in his office, same for the other employees!!
Pixar isn't a universe but a multiverse. The timelines run parallel, however, some universes (like those featured in Brave and Monsters Inc) have discovered a way to travel among these universes. In the upcoming Inside Out, we see yet another universe that essentially sustains all other universes and that's why scenes from Up are featured: the memories are from a different version of that character.
Pixiar theroy isnt true sadly. Thing about it boo needs to see magic in order to go back in time to make magic. She would wouldn't be able to go and make magic in brave because magic wouldn't exist because she hadn't made it yet and sully wouldn't have met her because she hadnt made magic yet which causes the events of the theroy
alpha walus of the corgi empire What if she went further in time for 2 people to marry each other and when they had a baby she could have taught her magic. What if the baby accidentally learned magic without lessons
I love pixar. I don't know if I'm totally sold on the theory, but it is plausible. I think the Easter eggs are just that. And the zero gravity giving inanimate objects intelligence thing is a little far fetched. But I do agree with the thought that objects and creatures needs humans to survive. That idea does keep reappearing in their movies. Quite fascinating
I think the theory is plausible, but I'm not sure how much I believe it. I think it's kind of fun to think about this theory, but I doubt that Pixar was thinking from the beginning "Let's make all of our movies link to each other."
daydreamingdm I would love that it would be called "Pixar Universe" and they would be fighting against a evil force who is spreading darkness through out the world and the darkness invades each and every pixar ever :D
This a fun theory, however when you mention things like "the trailer is the same in BUGS LIFE and MONSTERS INC," thats the the animators recycling old animation to make easier, and cheaper. They took one of the flying scenes from BUGS LIFE, change the color and setting and put it in TOY STORY 2.
I heard that the reason why animals are very smart because there might be a possibility that the witch turned other humans into animals but were unable to change back. Thus making them go out and breed, meaning that bits of human emotion and intelligence still duel within them. However, given the amount of species on the planet, it doesn't seem likely. The 'Good Dinosaur' film theory actually makes sense and sounds entirely possible.
▪good dinosaur ▪brave ▪incredibles ▪toy story ▪toy story 2 ▪finding nemo ▪ratatouile ▪toy story 3 ▪up ▪walle ▪bugs life ▪monsters university ▪monsters Inc ▪inside out ▪cars ▪cars 2 im 99% sure that's the order so far
I enjoy this theory but don't take it too seriously. Also having seen Inside Out, can tell you that Bing Bong is not a real monster and exists solely in Riley's mind. The rest of the connections are fascinating to consider though.
I don't think this really has any connection but... Remember that part in Inside Out when Riley remembers the car rolling down the hill into a DINOSAUR?! The Good Dinosaur is coming out soon...
I figured out that Pixar Theory Started from Good Dinosaur because there is a moment where Human meets Dinosaur for the first time which means Human meet with Animal and it is all before the Machines were born.
And I also kind of want to pitch a movie to Pixar about the pixar theory and the intelligent main character would be trying to figure out their worlds version of "the singularity".
even if pixar say the theory is not true, when they have enough films to explain this, they should then have a final film about it which would be awesome
The witch doesn't turn the Queen into a bear because she's trying to bring back Sully. She does it because Merida wished for it. Also, At the end of Monster's Inc, Sully meets Boo again anyway. There's no reason for Boo to find magic and go back in time.
OR the most simplest and realistic explanation is they had the same writers/producers/animators in several pixar films and they simply regurgitated some of the ideas they used across films....
Hold on: Chicken Little is with Bug's Life's "anthropomorphic and long living animals" thing. Wreck It Ralph is with Toy Story's "toys become alive with energy". Now, all that's left is Big Hero 6. Unless, the advanced technology invented... BNL!!!!!! Or not.
It is certainly a fun theory to listen to but I believe John Lasseter is telling the truth. The more movies they make, the easier it is to create such extravagant connections and theories. It's the same reason why many conspiracy theories gain traction to begin with.

One of the only happy theories! Thank you for not ruining my childhood!
Sure Disney and Pixar likes to throw in a ton of easter eggs from a lot of movies, but it doesn't mean their connected.
WHAT IF...
None of this is true and we are all over thinking this?
Also pixar just likes putting easter eggs in their movies.
Pawprint1423 EXACTLY. This is all so situational it's terrifying that people find validity in this.

i don't care if the writers deny it, this theory is still great to think about.
With Inside Out, I always thought that was just a basic psychology format of Humans and Animals (possibly even machines) of the Pixar universe.

alpha walus of the corgi empire What if she went further in time for 2 people to marry each other and when they had a baby she could have taught her magic. What if the baby accidentally learned magic without lessons
Maybe there was the first unverse there was another witch who caused the envents then boo when back in time and took her place causing the evnets?
so a door into the future is not magic?
Or could boo be a super powered human of sorts, the theory didn't say when she was born on the time line.
what if she is the witch before she went back in time and she made her self immortal and is reincontaed into boo?
I love pixar. I don't know if I'm totally sold on the theory, but it is plausible. I think the Easter eggs are just that. And the zero gravity giving inanimate objects intelligence thing is a little far fetched. But I do agree with the thought that objects and creatures needs humans to survive. That idea does keep reappearing in their movies. Quite fascinating
love it!!
That is a epic theory
They said that this theory is real.
They actually said it wasn't real
yesterday they said it is
they never said it was real moron
its cool that its technically an infinite loop starting - and ending - on a girl obsessed with time-traveling monsters.
wow. forever mindblown
Pixar should have went with this theory. It's amazing. I'm personally going to believe it's true
I think the theory is plausible, but I'm not sure how much I believe it. I think it's kind of fun to think about this theory, but I doubt that Pixar was thinking from the beginning "Let's make all of our movies link to each other."
We are so going to have a big crossover soon
daydreamingdm I would love that it would be called "Pixar Universe" and they would be fighting against a evil force who is spreading darkness through out the world and the darkness invades each and every pixar ever :D
Braydon crump If only there was some way Disney Infinite could be made canon.
People of my google plus! Come see this amazing video!
Oh yeah? People of my against google plus land kneel to king bob of against google plus as he destroys this google plus worshiper!
Henry Barros bobs like maybe 1 or 2 years old.. yea man that's the oldest thing ive ever heard of...
haha yea yours is pretty original too XD
I heard that the reason why animals are very smart because there might be a possibility that the witch turned other humans into animals but were unable to change back. Thus making them go out and breed, meaning that bits of human emotion and intelligence still duel within them. However, given the amount of species on the planet, it doesn't seem likely. The 'Good Dinosaur' film theory actually makes sense and sounds entirely possible.

im 99% sure that's the order so far
I enjoy this theory but don't take it too seriously. Also having seen Inside Out, can tell you that Bing Bong is not a real monster and exists solely in Riley's mind. The rest of the connections are fascinating to consider though.
The island in the incredibles looks like the new short with the volcanos
I don't think this really has any connection but...
Remember that part in Inside Out when Riley remembers the car rolling down the hill into a DINOSAUR?! The Good Dinosaur is coming out soon...
Interesting theory
I figured out that Pixar Theory Started from Good Dinosaur because there is a moment where Human meets Dinosaur for the first time which means Human meet with Animal and it is all before the Machines were born.
My mind just got blown
That is sooo crazy!
There's no reason for Boo to find magic and go back in time.
mysteries reside where metaphors reign...and vise versa
mindblown
Then you have the Incredibles 2 and Cars 3, which has electric cars that don't run on oil...hmmm
OR the most simplest and realistic explanation is they had the same writers/producers/animators in several pixar films and they simply regurgitated some of the ideas they used across films....
Wow. Pixar was a LOT simpler before I watched that. Cool video, though. It makes sense.
Pretty good, but what about Big Hero 6, Chicken Little, and Wreck It Ralph? Planes was included in the whole "vehicles are alive on Earth" thing.
Hold on: Chicken Little is with Bug's Life's "anthropomorphic and long living animals" thing. Wreck It Ralph is with Toy Story's "toys become alive with energy". Now, all that's left is Big Hero 6. Unless, the advanced technology invented... BNL!!!!!! Or not.
+Brian Keim Those three movies are Disney, not pixar
For the last time, it isn't Pixar! Those are all movies made by Disney Animation Studios, not Pixar!
Sorry, I'm just tired of seeing these.
Amazing theory I believe it
ha I just saw the pizza truck right now. I've watched these movies over and over and just now paid attention that it was there...ha nice
so all of this is because of BNL
