We used to go to Door County all the time. It was a favorite RV excursion!! Once we got to Sturgeon Bay, we felt like we were just arriving. Since my name is Carl, it was a significant milestone when we got to Clarlsville. Egg Harbor was the gateway to the rest of the area. Peninsula State Park was a must extended stop. Sister Bay was a gotta stop for their fish boil. Baileys Harbor was a nostalgic stop! Sister Baby and Ellison Bay were gotta stop places as well. Gills Rock was where we caught the ferry to Washington Island. If we were in a hurry, we could do it in a week, but it usually took two or more! THANK YOU for this trip down memory lane!!
THANK YOU for your honest review! We are in a 41' 5th wheel that has a small den/extra room off the kitchen because our almost-adult sons were with us. One more left to fly the nest and then we can think about downsizing - we're not in a hurry because we LOVE our home, but in a perfect scenario, we would find a Class A or C between 30-35' WITH a washer/dryer (or even a combo unit if it vented to the outside) - doing our own laundry is definitely a deal breaker for us!
I can't wait to get on the road so that I can disprove many of the misconceptions that I have about most states. Except for Kansas! I was stationed there in the 70's and one square foot is the same as the rest of the state. The golden wheat fields are beautiful! Safe travels to all!
My grandmother was from Northern Wisconsin and although she moved to California in the 1950's, she always talked fondly of Wisconsin. She grew up on a farm and lived there until her mid-twenties. She always wanted to go back but could never afford it. I would like to go see it someday. Her old homestead is gone but the town is still there - it is called Winter in Sawyer County, WI.
I don't know if it's only a seasonal event, but enjoying a fish boil is a Door County experience. I enjoyed your video and got homesick. We just returned to SC from our 3 week vacation in our home-state of WI, but hadn't been to Door County in a while. Missing the beautiful nature.
My father was a lighthouse keeper on Strawberry Island. You should have gone during the lighthouse festival. You can purchase tickets to visit lighthouses not generally open to the public. It’s a beautiful place Door County. Enjoy
My original plans for retirement was a 60ft. Blue Water Yacht. But as I got closer to retirement and due to the price of boating increased so much that my dream floated away from the dock on me. That is when I was told to look at a land yacht. A what? I responded. An RV. Well I spent the next 7 years researching and learning about RVs There is a lot to learn and I am very glad I took the time to learn. After much research, attending many RV shows and asking many many questions. I decided on a Class C. I then learned the broad difference in quality in these models. The manufactures at shows like the Tampa show were great in my learning process. I ultimately decided on a Winnebago Aspect 30 J. I feel like I am in a class A but much easier to take care of and maintain. I have a sleeping area , a living area and a cooking area. Plenty of storage. I full time and this model is perfect for me. It is powered by a Ford E-450 and I average 12-13 mpg. I live in South Florida and my rig is quite comfortable year round. Even during our Hot summers I can maintain a temp of 74 degrees all the time and the A/C does not run continuously. I should add my rig was built for a life in Alaska with extra insulation. I have meet many newbies that were not happy with their purchases and when I asked how much homework did you do? The usual answer is none really. We were at a show and like the way it looked. You have to do your research. You need to learn about the workings of a rv. You must do your homework. If you do you wont need to live with regrets.
The perfect RV, We traveled for 20 years in a 37 foot diesel, with a very large slide on one side. It had it all including a washer and dryer. Four years ago we down sized to a 30 Foot class A Winnebago gas with three slide outs. We did some upgrades including good theater seating, 600 watts of solar power with AGM batteries, electric day night shades on the front window and various other small items. We have 45K miles on it and are just as happy as we were with the big rig. Less power on the hills and not the milage that the diesel got but then we paid a lot less for it too so that was a huge savings. Lots of storage in and out and our storage bays are not full. For us the small rig with the ability to use more national parks, BLM and COE parks and squeeze in where before we could not have made it the right rig at this time for us. Our only big miss is the washer and dryer but we have survived...
Yet another beautiful place ya'll have brought us to. I love the lighthouses and i think it would have been interesting to have been a keeper of the lighthouse. Thanks for taking us along. I'm sorry for the stupid people that leave hateful comments but thats the world we live in. Ya'll stay safe and enjoy.
I want to let you guys know a great place to go in FISH CREEK. It's called NOT LICKED YET. It has wonderful soft serve in different flavors! Phil will love it!!❤ There sundaes are sooooo good!!! Go! You'll love it!!❤❤
Wisconsin is a "hidden" gem. I lived in Milwaukee for 3 years and barely touched the tip of the iceberg on all there is to see and explore in this beautiful state. I look forward to exploring more of cheese country in the years to come! 🧀
Plenty of adventures on the Olumpic Peninsula. Dungeness Spit and the game farm in Sequim. Hurricane Ridge in Port Angeles. You can also take the ferry and visit Victoria Canada for the day. Salt Creek Recreational with bunkers and tide pools. Lake Crescent. Mary Mere Falls. The rain forest. Forks, Ruby beach. So much to explore.😊
Very nice area there. Nice swimming area, y'all should have jumped ! Thank y'all for taking us along on your trip. God bless y'all and stay safe on your travels.
We are here in Door County right now! It’s excellent with so much to do. We’ve been here a week. I’m sure there is lag time between your trips and videos so we probably won’t see you. It sure would be cool. We did the Cana Island Lighthouse too. (Great Lakes don’t have tides.)
My wife and I visited Cana Lighthouse in July and had a wonderful time. We opted to take the tractor ride since the wind was causing waves that made the water ankle-deep. It’s such a neat lighthouse, for sure! Thanks for the look back!
Great video on Door County. We lived in Chicago for many years but never made it up to Door County. Our loss! Quick question, does the rig struggle towing your Trailhawk? Keep the great videos coming.
The last time of many yrs visiting Door County and the Cana lighthouse, the tractor was the only way to access the lighthouse as the road was underwater. Fish boils are a must, and of all the ones I've been to, the one in Ephraim at the Old post office was really entertaining and a good experience.
Great spot to visit and they are legendary for their fish boils. Nice little lake too. If interested many good videos of the best shipwreck diving in the world---Isle Royale.
Heard so much about it. We'll probably go next summer, while workamping in Mackinaw City. I expect it will be like South Florida, crowded, touristy, and expensive.
If you have an iphone it has a level function in it. If you use it after a while you will know how much wood you will need to get level, 1,2 or maybe 3 pieces. In my rig it's 2 pieces of 3" for on degree. Just a suggestion. I see you guys are on the rocky (west) side of Lake Michigan. If you were on the eastern side it would be a nice sandy beach. That, and Michigan has lots of light houses for Stacy, the most in the country. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
Currently in 35 ft 5th wheel. Very intrigued by a Super C (for the commercial build chassis and drive train). Phil and Stacy, any plans to demo or highlight a Super C?
We have heard that, but we don't feel comfortable with that. Plus the more points of contact on the ground the less wiggle and more stable your rig will be.
I live in Green Bay and love visiting Door County, just not during the summer. Way too many people, and throw in road construction like this summer...😳
Hey, I was wondering you guys how do you like that small camper I mean would it be something that two people might be interested in or is it still too small? I’m getting ready to start looking for one and I was just wanting to get your opinion. Thanks.
We really liked the mobility it afforded us. We are kinda spoiled with our 35 footer. This floorplan was not ideal for us, but there are other floorplans that we think would work better for us. You will know once you find the right one.
We were in Door County last summer for a few days. Sadly it was over July 4th and everything seemed closed. We somehow missed out on the fun. The KOA was disappointing, perhaps there was more to see and do……
Glad you visited our home state! It seems people avoid traveling here but they're missing out! The Republican Party was founded here. Kindergarten was here first too!
You scared me, I thought you were going to quit traveling! I have lots of questions for you both. I will send an e-mail with my questions. I love you channel.
I was slightly puzzled why you would put blocks under the jacks and not under the wheels. That's a newbie mistake right there. I believe you can call that a brain fart.
Putting blocks under the jacks prevents them from extending all the way to the ground. We have found that the blocks under the jacks help the rig level much faster and often keep us from driving up on blocks. If the jacks have to extend so much that your wheels do come off the ground, you should drive up on something to keep them grounded.
God Bless both of one. Well as a Canadian who just visited New Hampshire. This will be one of our next trip for the future along with Lancaster Pennsylvania. Looks like such a awesome place 🌹🙌💜🇺🇸🏈
Wisconsin is such a beautiful state. That 70’s show was filmed there. The scenery is everything. Thanks for sharing.
My father taught me that when backing up always roll your window down so you can hear. More bad things happen when backing than going forward.
Thanks for sharing! We are currently planning our trip to Door County!

You are welcome. Combo units are nice for space issues. They just take about 3 to 4 hours per load....as a thought.

I want to see the cherry harvest! Cobblers, pie’s, dump cakes and just cherry eating in general, ( no perverted or pun here). I love Cherry flavor!

Wow so beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing❤
We toured Door County with our friends and it is beautiful area.

This is one of our must stops on our way thru northern Wisconsin.
We love the wineries.

You are in my state of Wisconsin. You need to come on the other side to Menomonie. Thank you for the video and sharing. Blessings to you.
Door County is great. This Sunday we are heading to Peninsula Park for four days.

We're in door county all week it is beautiful.

Love your informative videos..really helps us plan our trips too!
Glad you like them!
If you like Door County you will also Ike Leelanau County in Michigan. It’s just across the lake.
The last time of many yrs visiting Door County and the Cana lighthouse, the tractor was the only way to access the lighthouse as the road was underwater. Fish boils are a must, and of all the ones I've been to, the one in Ephraim at the Old post office was really entertaining and a good experience.

You have Door County figured out. It's very busy during the summer but I am hoping to get back there next year.
Great video, interesting and great information. Go team Red!😅

Try puting the wood under the tires then retract the levelers and then extend them again that should work
You guys HAVE to go to Grand Manan Island in New Brunswick!!
California, Burney Falls are one of a kind and gorgeous!!!
Are you like switch crew ? A mega church vibe ! That serves booze on Sunday!! :)
We check with a torpedo level before we unhook so we can use our leveling block under the wheels then we use the auto level
Nice video. I really like yall.
Awesome! Thank you!
Currently in 35 ft 5th wheel. Very intrigued by a Super C (for the commercial build chassis and drive train). Phil and Stacy, any plans to demo or highlight a Super C?
We need to return for another bike ride on those back roads.
Front wheels are ok to be off the ground with the jacks. Just make sure the back wheels are on the ground.
We have heard that, but we don't feel comfortable with that. Plus the more points of contact on the ground the less wiggle and more stable your rig will be.
West coast has many light houses. If you love to see one Oregon coast is where to find them

I must have missed how you came about driving around in the View Winni. Did you buy it? On loan.
It was a loaner from Winnebago.
Glad you visited our home state! It seems people avoid traveling here but they're missing out! The Republican Party was founded here. Kindergarten was here first too!
There is no tide in the great lakes.
Phil, is that a braided water hose? If so, be careful with the metal slivers that will pop up. I only handle mine with leather gloves.
Yes. I found out the hard way...once!
Oh ok
You scared me, I thought you were going to quit traveling! I have lots of questions for you both. I will send an e-mail with my questions. I love you channel.
Not anytime soon. Email away, Beverly.
I don’t love the title. Lots of Wisconsin is really COOL.
We agree!
Sorry....no tides in the great lakes
How long. You guys in Wisconsin
We were there for four weeks.
I was slightly puzzled why you would put blocks under the jacks and not under the wheels. That's a newbie mistake right there. I believe you can call that a brain fart.

Looks like such a awesome place 🌹🙌💜🇺🇸🏈
Don’t know how you got hard copy of RV destinations, not available when I went to the site!not buying it soft copy email. Screw them!
That is unfortunate, Todd. Did you reach out to them?
