Thank you for honoring quilters. Sometimes I struggle with the time I spend quilting just for pleasure. It doesn’t bring in money. It’s simply something I’m strongly drawn to do. I have no idea why it fills my soul. It just does, as it also filled my great-grandmother’s soul.
Thank you for telling me quilting stories. I quilt to remember, and I quilt to forget. Such beautiful women.
Yes, this is true
Quilting is love meditation, accepting what is, more being than doing. The world needs more quilters. Thank you for this documentary.
When the class she taught was finished, the ladies wanted more, "So I started publishing." I LOVE THIS WOMAN! ❤
Wow, the cinematography is incredible. The way it tells the story is so beautiful. Completely captivating.
💜💜💜 To the woman who is caring for her husband; God Bless You! Caregiving is difficult and we tend to lose ourselves . I am so glad that you are able to escape by emerging yourself in quilting. I don't know what I'd do if I didn't quilt.
Thank You to all the ladies for sharing your stories.
Thanks you for this vignette. I came to quilting late in life. When the fecundity people in our orbit, I started making baby quilts. It is definitely a skill to build and master. With TH-cam all learnings are possible. As I've been at it for about 5 years, purely for pleasure, not competition or income, I have philosophically considered quilting as a series of meditations: concept meditation; fabric curation meditation; cutting meditation, sewing meditation, quilting meditation and binding meditation. And the gifting of a quilt to another is a special feeling indeed.
So well said. Thank you 🙏
What beautiful storytelling all around! One of my favorite videos I’ve seen in a long time. Bravo!
Thank you 🫶
This was absolutely stunning. Each persons story, and wow- gorgeous filmmaking
I have been a sewer since my twenties. As I got older was very interested in quilting, but was very intimidated with the process. I have taken a few classes and finished my first quilt. What I have learned is to appreciate quilting as a beautiful art form that feeds the soul.
This video speaks to all of us and our reasons and passions for quilting. ‘If I had a day all to myself I would sew!’
I realized some time ago what quilting has really meant to me all these years. In daily life my mind is constantly multitasking in different directions with career, caretaking, family responsibilities, and more.
I personally treasure the hours when I can quilt because it provides an oasis for my mind to relax and be creative by placing my entire focus on a single effort that speaks to my heart through color, design, technique, and yes, perfection. ❤️
I worked at a quilting store in a university town in my early 20s, I wished I was one of the students but I couldn't afford it at the time, anyways, there was a math professor at the college, he must've taught something for engineering or something, because the end of the year project for his students was to come up with a formula and design and create a quilt from it, so that it can be seen visually, so we would have tons of students coming in to buy fabric and get help on sewing techniques, it was a lot of fun to see.
Thant's awesome!
I love the honoring of the homemaker and the women with traditional skills that are so valuable and needed. Thank you for sharing this. We need to feminism to start uplifting these stories and women.
I think that feminism would ruin these stories. Where has feminism been as men pretending to be women are competing against women in the sporting arena? Jane? Bette? Susan? Where are you now? Crickets.
This was utterly beautiful!
A compelling and memorable video about family, women, creativity and quilting. A joy to watch alone or with friends.
i loved this so much. womanhood is smart, skilled and beautiful
Wonderful way to present the American Quilter. Women- we are so strong. Keep sewing!! It feeds the soul and our families.
You captured the sensory pleasure of making...and without preaching, reminded us that the work of quilting itself is a creative meditation. Thank you.
The second woman who described the "loneliness" that she felt after her first son was born. It was her and him at home together. I recognize that loneliness that I felt when my son was born, too. I didn't know how to care for him and do something else at the same time. It was a difficult time. The American west is so beautiful. Even the junky parts have beauty.
Beautiful short film on quilters and quilting... all these women’s creative stories resonate with me deeply. Thank you
Sewing is a skill that everybody should learn. Its been life long for me. I've made some money, made quilts for fundraisers and now hospice. Such a rewarding hobby.
Thank you for this film, knowing there are still women people out there doing this is reassuring. The Navajo woman's quilts and the story of her life and her ancestors lives was especially moving.
I don’t quilt, but the addiction to sewing is very familiar to me. Keep on creating the magic❤
Beautifully made. Well done everyone!
These women are so strong and beautiful. Their work and dedication to craft is inspiring.
This is so incredibly beautiful and moving
Oh I loved everything about this beautifully presented little documentary!
Absolutely stunning film. Glorious women. Thank you, thank you for honoring them.
Really appreciated this video, and can relate to how sewing, quilting is uplifting and such a wonderful legacy to leave.❣️
Thank you so much for this wonderful work. ✨️ I really appreciate the tender, almost intimate, telling of these women's stories, a little window into our sisters lives that genuinely moved me and perhaps resonates on some level with all women who quilt and stitch.❤
Absolutely beautiful little film. Thank you.
Only those whose hands have felt fabric and thread can completely identify. Quilting is not a craft, a hobby, a past time? Its an Artform, its a means of expression, its a medium. Bless all the hands that have found their use to express.
You have succinctly described what quilting is.
It’s an act of love, too.
This is spectacular! Bravo! I’m glad these women’s art is getting recognized.
Beautifully done. Thank you for honoring the work of these amazing artists!
I am a quilter, like my grandmother before me. I l loved this short film.
Thanks for a beautiful article, I really enjoy and appreciate it.
Beautiful ladies, thank you for sharing your talents! Your quilts are one of a kind! Keep on keeping on!
This made me so emotional! Beautiful film thank you
Thank you so much for sharing this simple story with us. Those of us who quilt can completely understand.

Just beautiful-all of it! Thank you.
Absolutely lovely, fills my heart. Thank youl.
Thank you for this mini doc! I loved it!
Fabulous stories; my grandma was a quilter! It would have been nice to feature some of those Black quilters in the Deep South whose work end in major museum exhibitions! Gee's Bend for example.
i saw a feature on the Gee's Bend quilters a couple of weeks ago. STUNNING WORK!!!
@@GratitudeGriot Right? 😘
such a beautiful doc and quilts!! my aunt has been holding onto my grandma's quilt squares in her attic. patiently waiting for her to send them to me so I can make my 1st quilt. I only want to make 2 - one for me and one for my daughter 💕 these women's collections are gorgeous especially Traditional Woman's
That’s what you think getting started. I’ll only make one or two, but then you become addicted and make way more than two ❤
Thank you everyone for sharing your journey
this is so beautiful ❤
So beautiful ❤️
Fab quilty short doc
Wow. Just wonderful.
Loved this; thank you.
Fabulous! Thank you for sharing this one!
Absolutely loved this documentary. Kudos to you all.
Beautiful storytelling!
Thank you.
Great documentary. Made me cry a bit.
Fabulous. More please!
I am a quilter. It’s great to see many perspectives because each quilter uses their creativity to express who they are and how they see the world. It is a traditional art that sometimes gets overlooked. The “slickness” of the cinematography and editing at first bothered me, but by the end I appreciated it.
It is the art of the person who filmed and edited…it’s their quilt.
beautiful
Spectacularly beautiful, well done. 💛✨🧵🪡
Beautiful video -thank you!
Love this so much❤
Wow! Loved this ❤❤
Powerful stories.
Beautiful, thank you! ❤
Excellent!
Wow very powerful.
This is so inspiring ✨
Love this
beautiful!
Magical❤
I love quilting. But I really struggle with the math part. It made me cry in high school. It makes the craft very challenging for me 🤷♀️
I was told in school I had a "math block" I started quilting simple shapes. Small 3" squares sewn together. Over the years I have done more complex things but I always go back to the simple squares. Don't be afraid. ✨💗✨
@ aww thank you so much. Your message made my day🩷
That teacher's advice is sad. Imagine all the girls who were told they shouldn't be the thing they wanted to do or naturally gifted at.
They were probably a man.
I agree. My friend’s father was a doctor. She said she was told she could be a nurse..or a teacher. Never told she could become a doctor because she was a GIRL! She’s still angry….
I hear you I wanted to be a journalist and photographer on a daily newspaper. y high school counselor also told me "Woen won't be hired on a newspaper - choose teaching nursing or be a secretary"
Yup!
Can goods?

You couldn't find one cheerful quilting story?!?! That was so somber for a fun hobby.
Life is not always a bowl full of cherries; I love how all three of these women took their life circumstances and made something beautiful of them.
Why did they make this feel like a horror movie
I love this topic and appreciate the artistic cinematography, but the attempt at bringing in some sort of “spiritualism” is a failure, unfortunately. God comes in one form and is found in everything, just not in the ways mentioned here which is misleading for souls who are searching for more. Read your bible. That is where real answers are found.
Excellent!!
