This week, Toby and I got a late start as we headed into the Foot Hills State Forest. I decided to take a few trails that I've never been on. It was fun pushing the limits of the rig. I had so many awesome video opportunities, however, every time I stopped to put up the camera I would end up blocking the trail, making myself a hazzard for passers-bys on ATVs. Being a one man show isn't always easy when trying to record. I think it would be a blast to explore these trails on a weekday. The weekends definitely bring out the crowds. The good news is most people in the forest were only trail riding, so I was able to find an empty remote campsite tucked in the trees surrounded by rolling hills.
It was a quiet remote campsite. The sounds of crows during the day and owls at night were the only signs of life. Supper was excellent, but the night came so quickly and I didn't feel like eating at 11, so I packed it up for leftovers.
My mind started to play tricks on me later that night. As I was walking down the camper steps to sit by the fire I heard a low growling voice say "Hay...Hay!" I was taken back for a second before realizing the sound was coming from my stomach. I guess my brain didn't want to eat the prok chops as much as my stomach did.
As I walked towards the fire I could hear a deer in the woods. It made that sneezing sound deer make when they become alarmed. Unfortunately by the time I pressed record the deer was gone. That's when the sounds of the empty forest became amplified. Every acorn drop, every shrue scampering across the forest floor, sounded like a herd of elephants about to crash into my campsite. It's truly funny how our brain can play tricks on us. All the sound could be explained with rational explanations, but I was still on edge.
That's when i decided to take a walk down the forest trail. I get joy out of pushing myself out of my comfort zone. In the back of my mind, I knew walking down that trail at midnight was safer than walking through most walmarts at 6 pm. But there's something about walking through a forest at midnight that makes you feel alive.
If you stick around for the entire video, you heard the news about Mandi, her son Conner, and me moving in together. I'm super excited about the next chapter in our lives. It was nice to have supper ready for her Sunday night when she got home from work. She said the porkchops in the mushroom sauce was excellent. 👌
Thanks for following along on the adventure. Toby and I will see you again next week.
Kenny
Pro Tip: Whenever you pull into a camp site, always point your rig towards the exit. I have my Cane Corso with me, and a side arm. The only creature I am worried about when boondocking is of the two legged variety. I also prepare for a sudden egress by facing my rig towards the way out. Stay safe brother. 💪🏾🤙🏾💯
Very correct.
He’s probably not too worried about that lol. I get it tho, I carry outdoors 💯
That cane Corso has your back, I speak from experience. Sleep like a baby with your door unlocked and your wallet on the dash.
100%
I'm the same way. I have always done it for some reason. Friends say it's for a quick getaway. I say whats your point. God bless 😊.
I just love that Toby has his own chair ❤……Best dog dad ever
You forgot to turn your rig toward the exit…. Love Toby❤! A beautiful dog!
Does anyone know what chair that is? Where to get it? I really want to get one for my dog.
Hi Kenny! My 12 year old boy was having a crappy day today. Moody and challenging. So I gave him a little time to himself and then invited him to snuggle on the couch with me to watch some of your videos. Cheered us both right up. He thinks you are very cool and loved watching you cook. :) Thank you for putting something good into the world - something that is honest and brings peace into our day.
That made my day!! Thank you so much for the wonderful message. 💗 Toby and I just got super in the oven, and the dishes washed. Now he's sound asleep in my bed. I'm gonna have supper soon and go for a late night walk down some forest trails. I'm so glad you both enjoyed the video. This one should be up Tuesday night.
@@KennyOfAllTrades Sooo looking forward to seeing it! Stay safe and warm! Hugs to Toby!
Hi.It was v ery interested in your vid.bcuz. I live just about 6 miles from Backus. And never knew about this park.i love to camp and if I can find it I will go..thank you for taking us along. God Bless.stay safe out there..happy adventures
@@KennyOfAllTrades don’t pay attention to people who criticize your fire starting! Every video that I’ve watched of yours when you get it started it lights right up! As long as it works for you don’t pay attention to people say about it
Hi Kenny! Your a brave soul to walk down that dark road at night! It scared me to do that as a kid, I sure as heck ain’t gonna do it now! But I love the videos!!
You completely unnerve me with these night walks very scary!! May the lord Jesus keep you safe
Amen 🙏 each night walk yes 👍
Kenny you always make me nervous when you go for a walk late at night . Wolf and black bears roaming around. You and Toby stay safe.
Does MN have cougars, too? I'm not familiar with this state too well. I hail from SE TN.
Yes there are some hot older cougar gals at the taverns @@AbbyD_TN
@@AbbyD_TN we have rare, confirmed sightings of cougars, but no established population. Including one in Minneapolis last December.
I can’t believe how chill Toby is!! He’s a great companion for you!! You’re videos are AWESOME thanks to your 4-legged screen writer 😂
I’m thinking the same.. walking at night in the woods in the middle of nowhere.. mercy.. “ somethings being thrown at the camper” … wish I could be so brave … be safe
A great idea is to leave out about six chairs lol to make any two legged weirdo's from attacking, plus I always have a riffle and big dogs. I love animals, they don't scare me at all, only the two legged variety that I said about previous. Great Chanel mate! Love from Australia 🇦🇺💚🇺🇸🐨🦘
Ahh, the Bob Ross of camping & King Toby. Good times.
Oh, my, that's a good analogy!
Long live Bob Ross!!!!
I just typed the s@me thing without seeing this! It’s so true!
I was thinking more of Mr. Rogers. Such a kind mild voice. And salutation at the end. :)
My thoughts exactly!
I love how in your videos you always have a chair for Toby to sit in. Anyone that loves animals appreciates that touch! I really enjoy the content you put out and will continue to watch.
BIGFOOTS LOVE TO THROW ACCORNS!!!!!!
he also gave me ghonorrea
And rocks and sticks
Facts!
And acorns 😂
I saw in movies so can say. Never heard anyones true story abt it
I had to pause the video at 19:25 and just enjoy that shot. Beautiful.
I had large rocks thrown at me while in my camper while solo camping last November. No trees were above my camp area either. One stone was a baseball size conglomeration of pebbles, small rocks, and clay. I wouldn’t have thought of it as creepy except for the ungodly scream screech I heard prior to it. And no, it wasn’t anything I’ve ever heard in 63 years of the outdoors. I was alone, midweek, in the middle of nowhere.
That's incredible. I'm torn on whether or not I'd want to experience something like that. I'm sure it was terrifying at the time, but it's an incredible experience to have.
Good lord , what an experience
I think Kenny was parked in the open too. I was thinking, how could it be acorns on the roof with no trees above? What a beautiful site though, the grass looked so nice and low.
Many dangerous people around.
That's Bigfoot my guy.
Kenny I just did something that you taught me , we were at a lake in ca. we were the only ones there beautiful, we noticed too mush trash around so we decided to pick up the whole camp ground . All because of you ,thanks buddy
Jeez, chill. Guy picked up other peoples’ trash and you don’t like his reason for doing so??
Everyone know what time it is? Kenny and Toby time!!!!!
I grew up on the farm, and was never too much bothered by the silence. Then I moved to the city with the traffic, neighbors, and occasional gunshots, and now the silence creeps me out. Sometimes I have to run a fan or other 'white noise' just to drown out the strange sounds of silence. I like to shine a bright flashlight across the pasture and count the eyes staring back at me... (that's creepy, too).
👁👃👁
👄
Strange ...i love quiet..but i assume you must be experiencing it differently. So yeah sometimes good to be around people in the city
Toby has his own camping chair. Everyone is happy and comfortable.
Yeah, and it looks even comfier than Kenny's chair!
@@Johnniebhoy83 But, of course. :) I forget which position he has now, but isn't he a director, at least?
@@AbbyD_TN I asked, and evidently Toby has run out of a way to move up the ladder, lol
I enjoy your videos. The reason I subscribe to your channel is because I love how you love Toby and how well you care for him. That speaks how kind your heart is. God Bless You
I could not camp alone like that. Too scary. I would love to do it but…….so glad you’re having fun.
I would love to if I had the skill...and enjoyed camping. Had enough of that when I was growing up. But maybe a setup like that would be nice.
It’s more fun to embrace the creepy nights. I bring night vision.😂 It amplifies the fun factor.😂😁
It’s safe…nothing dangerous
Our Black Lab gets so excited when she sees Toby on your videos.
Thank you for sharing.
17:36 Toby is precious. I was so glad when he became yours & I feel so much better when he is with you. I know he loves it. I can imagine how sad he would be to see that truck pull out to go camping , leaving him home
Hi Kenny and Toby, From England UK, I suffer with my mental health and anxiety, I came across you channel and I'm hooked. You are so chilled it makes me feel the same, my anxiety levels go down, and I feel better for finding you and Toby, who is an adorable puppy. May God Bless sir. Happy travels, I look forward to watching more of your adventures. ❤
Honestly Kenny (and Toby), these videos give me the motivation to make my dreams come true. Traveling with my boy (a Shiba Inu named Max) in the truck that we're building. Thank you so much for your effort that you put into your videos.
Thank you for that. It's comments like this that keep me motivated.
Every time I watch one of your videos I say to myself keep plugging away soon it’s gonna be your turn. I can hardly wait.
Oh, wow, go for it!
My guy! You mess with my mind when you go for walks at night. Plz take care of yourself. Honestly a day away to relax is better then none. ❤
This episode was EPIC! Toby has turned out to be quite the handsome little man and filling out, what a gorgeous boy! Those were some spooky sounds, along with a whole lot of owls sounding off. There could be anything in those woods Kenny....you make me nervous going for a walk at night with no obvious protection on you. I am so happy & excited for you and Mandy...we want video of this Glorious event! Oh wait...she doesn't like being on camera...oh well. Thank You for sharing this Amazing Adventure with us Kenny, loved every minute!
I felt the same about his walk. I kept thinking what if a bear got between him & the camper?
Best part of the video is how it is obvious you love your dog very much. I love dogs so much and enjoy seeing them enjoying their lives with their people.
Just wanted to say that about 3 years ago, I decided to get a camper. After 1 1/2 years of deliberations, I decided on a truck camper and watching your videos definitely helped me decide on getting the Arctic Fox brand of truck camper. I sold my truck (F250) and got an F350 dually. It ended up being my Christmas present to myself. Last month I finally got my truck camper, I got an 1150 and I'm so happy with it. I've spent 1 weekend camping in it so far, but now I have to wait to get a skid wheel for my Torklift Super Truss so I don't scrape it coming and going out of my driveway. I'll be camping soon enough for the fall season and absolutely cannot wait!
Take care and keep the videos coming. Maybe I'll see you down the road 😁
Congratulations to you and Mandy moving in together! 🎉
Awesome! It sounds like you'll be ready just in time for awesome fall camping weather.
The thinking about it and planning it is darn near 50% of the excitement.
@katttatt5898 I used to use my either my backpacking tent or my little 2-man tent. Both are OK, but I'm getting old enough that it's getting a little hard to get out of tents that are half my height and be able to stand up without groaning too terribly much. I'm ready for glamping it a bit when I can...
Ominous music starting at 17:50, I love it!! Gets your entire audience ramped up! Ha! Stay safe Kenny. Thanks for the awesome videos as always! Larry.
Thanks mate! Much appreciated, that's the bit I really want to see. Thanks from Australia 🇦🇺❤️🇺🇸🐨🦘
Toby is getting to look more mature. He is growing up to be a Big Boy. But, he will always be your baby.
Such a handsome, well-behaved dog. Love seeing him.
He’s a Good Boy
The dog I had was a rat terrier. Had her for around 14 to 15 years. The vet told me that she was the equivalent of a 112 year old person. I still called her pup or puppy more than I called her by name. I miss her everyday.
What a perfect one night trip. Kicked in a memory from a trip with my dog a couple years ago. My dog woke me up growling at a noise, I hear what sounded like a cougar (which we do have up here in Michigan) so I get up and lock the camper door, and then think cougars don't have thumbs. Laughed about it and went back to sleep. Thanks again for the ride along.
Kenny and Toby, our Tuesday evenings are spent watching you and Toby living your adventures. Our little pup, ChaChi, watches Toby close and considers him a Super Star! Your cooking is amazing. Thank you for sharing with us all! Bless you Kenny!
If Toby's not bothered by the noises, then you are 99.99999% sure nothing's there. Dogs are way more sensible than humans.
Tell that to all the dogs that were surprised by leopards, while asleep, and awake.
@@morrisgreen6863Pretty sure there's no leopards in minnesota...
I answered and said, "If I have found favor in thy sight, O Lord, show this also to thy servant: whether after death, as soon as every one of us yields up his soul, we shall be kept in rest until those times come when thou wilt renew the creation, or whether we shall be tormented at once?" 76 He answered me and said, "I will show you that also, but do not be associated with those who have shown scorn, nor number yourself among those who are tormented. 77 For you have a treasure of works laid up with the Most High; but it will not be shown to you until the last times.
78 Now, concerning death, the teaching is: When the decisive decree has gone forth from the Most High that a man shall die, as the spirit leaves the body to return again to him who gave it, first of all it adores the glory of the Most High. 79 And if it is one of those who have shown scorn and have not kept the way of the Most High, and who have despised his law, and who have hated those who fear the Most High -- 80 such spirits shall not enter into habitations, but shall immediately wander about in torments, ever grieving and sad, in seven ways.
81 The first way, because they have scorned the law of the Most High. 82 The second way, because they cannot now make a good repentance that they may live. 83 The third way, they shall see the reward laid up for those who have trusted the covenants of the Most High. 84 The fourth way, they shall consider the torment laid up for themselves in the last days. 85 The fifth way, they shall see how the habitations of the others are guarded by angels in profound quiet. 86 The sixth way, they shall see how some of them will pass over into torments. 87 The seventh way, which is worse than all the ways that have been mentioned, because they shall utterly waste away in confusion and be consumed with shame, and shall wither with fear at seeing the glory of the Most High before whom they sinned while they were alive, and before whom they are to be judged in the last times.
88 "Now this is the order of those who have kept the ways of the Most High, when they shall be separated from their mortal body. 89 During the time that they lived in it, they laboriously served the Most High, and withstood danger every hour, that they might keep the law of the Lawgiver perfectly. 90 Therefore this is the teaching concerning them: 91 First of all, they shall see with great joy the glory of him who receives them, for they shall have rest in seven orders.
92 The first order, because they have striven with great effort to overcome the evil thought which was formed with them, that it might not lead them astray from life into death. 93 The second order, because they see the perplexity in which the souls of the unrighteous wander, and the punishment that awaits them. 94 The third order, they see the witness which he who formed them bears concerning them, that while they were alive they kept the law which was given them in trust. 95 The fourth order, they understand the rest which they now enjoy, being gathered into their chambers and guarded by angels in profound quiet, and the glory which awaits them in the last days. 96 The fifth order, they rejoice that they have now escaped what is corruptible, and shall inherit what is to come;
and besides they see the straits and toil from which they have been delivered, and the spacious liberty which they are to receive and enjoy in immortality. 97 The sixth order, when it is shown to them how their face is to shine like the sun, and how they are to be made like the light of the stars, being incorruptible from then on. 98 The seventh order, which is greater than all that have been mentioned, because they shall rejoice with boldness, and shall be confident without confusion, and shall be glad without fear, for they hasten to behold the face of him whom they served in life and from whom they are to receive their reward when glorified.
99 This is the order of the souls of the righteous, as henceforth is announced; and the aforesaid are the ways of torment which those who would not give heed shall suffer hereafter." 100 I answered and said, "Will time therefore be given to the souls, after they have been separated from the bodies, to see what you have described to me?" 101 He said to me, "They shall have freedom for seven days, so that during these seven days they may see the things of which you have been told, and afterwards they shall be gathered in their habitations."
102 I answered and said, "If I have found favor in thy sight, show further to me, thy servant, whether on the day of judgment the righteous will be able to intercede for the unrighteous or to entreat the Most High for them, 103 fathers for sons or sons for parents, brothers for brothers, relatives for their kinsmen, or friends for those who are most dear." 104 He answered me and said, "Since you have found favor in my sight, I will show you this also. The day of judgment is decisive and displays to all the seal of truth. Just as now a father does not send his son, or a son his father, or a master his servant, or a friend his dearest friend, to be ill or sleep or eat or be healed in his stead, 105 so no one shall ever pray for another on that day, neither shall any one lay a burden on another; for then every one shall bear his own righteousness and unrighteousness." .....2 Esdras 7:75

I'm so sorry to hear that. Their lives are so short...it so sad.
Kenny, when you hear noises in the woods, you dont go alone into the dark woods! You head the other way into your camper!
You did find a good spot there. Its really beautiful.
Great news about you & Mandi. Wishing you a lifetime of happiness.

Kenny and Toby, your videos are sprays a highlight of my week. Thank you for sharing your adventures and letting us be a part. Keep up the great work!
I'll echo the sentiment... no walking alone in the woods at night! You're a national treasure, to be protected at all costs!
Congrats on moving in with Mandy! You light up when you speak of her and it's clear how much love and care you have for one another.
@@derick-smith I agree I wish Kenny would not walk alone at night in the woods, it scares me
When you cook...before you add liquids to the gravy. You need to "cook" the flour. Make a spot in the skillet by pushing the onions and mushrooms toward the sides. Cook the flour in the cleared spot just 3 to 5 mins. Then slowly add the milk or cream. Lastly add the water or broth.
Exactly his cooking skills are very questionable.
For sure, i agree with you. I've said it many times that I'm not a cook. I just throw stuff together in a single pot to make an easy meal. I work for the Department of Public Safty. I'm not a cook, not a bush craft survivalist. Im just a basic middle-aged man from Minnesota enjoying my days off work.
