I know this is a old vid but I’ve got my eye on a 02 R1 with 11k miles on it super fuckin clean and the guy is wanting to trade for my supermoto have you had any issues with it?
Mine got hit by a car but these motors are workhorses! My buddy had this gen r1, still does, over 120k miles. Still fast and only had to change 2 stators and one water pump. If it’s clean and in good running shape it’ll last!
Had to do a water pump on my 2002 R1 also. Other than that she's been good to me at around 65,000 miles. I'm not first owner, so I can't speak for the first 40k miles.
I travel in my r1 for 3:30m ima tell you that will never ever in my life do that again and I’m only 24 but after does 3 and half hour I felt like I was 70 everything hurt and I couldn’t even walk I had to put gas on the gas station it was a cop he literally look at me laughing and he told me is a nice bike but that’s why I don’t get a sport bike I try to play it off but I couldn’t look like that bike fuck me good 😂🤣 I promised by next summer I be riding a chopper but I will still keep my r1
Bro I’m 39 and rode mine for 2 and a half hours you just got to know how to position yourself and don’t ride upwards lay on your tank rest your hands on the tank it’s a smooth ride
Smruti Ranjan Das it does have some but not a lot. Only time you can tell is when you are gripping the handle bars to tight. But shouldn’t be doing that lol so it lets me know to let go a little
Smruti Ranjan Das cool! And it’s a great bike, reliable and should last Lon if you treat it well! Just make sure the bike wasn’t treated poorly from previous owners, it is a 17yr old motorcycle but it’s a great bike, I love mine!
Smruti Ranjan Das make sure there’s no engine knock. When you go to check it out ask him not to start the bike before u get there. You can learn a lot from a cold start. When ya get there touch the engine to make sure he didn’t warm it up. What’s its mileage? I’d say Try to get him into the 3’s though
@@arixramirez3701 I think every 32k is valve check in these. My buddy had one from 3k--> 110,000. Back roads and track days. Only ever needed two valves adjusted and a couple water pumps and a stator. If the bikes been treated well so far, And you take care of it, def worth it, will run forever ! But probs should have valves checked since it’s at the 40k mark
I got mine three days ago all black and it my friend blew my socks off it’s the fastest thing I’ve ever ever rode it’s so fast I can’t hardly hang on 😊

Is a 24k miles 2004 r1 worth it
How much they asking?
@@ironj03 asking 3800
@@luiszapien6604 it’s not a terrible price, ask for proof of valve clearance check
@@ironj03 I’m looking at a 03 40k $3600 what’s a valve clearance check? Do the valves gap end up closing?
