Not so sure. The 500 petrol is a V6 while the hybrid will be demoted to a V4. Power will similar overall but then what is the point? Maybe slightly better fuel efficiency in town but I would expect lesser performance overall as will probably be heavier and with less storage space due to the battery pack
@@janndwighttonel9240 it’s pricey but fully loaded. Soon we are getting the phone app to control the car. I’m approaching 10k first service soon. Very happy. Go test drive. 👍
The hybrid is worth it for the extra power alone - full on exhilarating both I've test driven Some good deals going on earlier new 23 build cars - brings the hybrids price very near the std one
In the two different demo's I drove both had a massive problem with them when accelerating away from a stop while turning (for example turning right at an intersection) and they took off under electric power but halfway through the turn they engaged the petrol engine with a huge shunt that violently surged through the vehicle. It's as though the electric engine was spinning the drivetrain at the equivalent petrol engine speed of about 3000 rpm and then suddenly decided it didn't have enough grunt to continue and tried to engage the petrol engine from 0 to 3000 rpm instantly. Certainly not smooth and could reproduce it on both cars, multiple times.
Drove it today - great car. Zero issues and i was looking for them - i was driving sport and normal mode mostly. No time to test everything. But great car - its a beast ... see how it goes in a few years I guess... cant be worse then my on 2014 Jeep the POS!
I havent had this issue - but once in sport mode it was stuck in some gear (was in drive) and revs were at 3k ... wouldnt shift. Was going about 50kmh. Theres a few bugs that hopefully get patched soon. The 5-7 step process of turning of ELK in a pain in ass everytime - Hybrid wont allow you to add it to the slide down menu like the petrol version. Overall its a great car so far. People always comment on it.

The current engine in the hilux, prado, fortuner were so much rubbish that toyota completely overhauled the entire engine 4-5 years after it was released. Remember the whole dpf thing too? The previous d4d engine had garbage pistons which were replaced by a new design and the injectors are rubbish quality and fail often along with the turbo.
