Thanks for the informative review. It's the closest review that evaluates the car as a car, rather a Chinese car. Many reviews place too much emphasis on the origin of the car rather than the merits of the car itself.
Why do Aussie car reviews constantly call vehicles "Chinese Made" or the "Chinese" SUV as if it were a warning? You don't refer to it as the "Thai Ute" or a Ford Ranger a "Thai made" vehicle? These days, robots make cars in very advanced factories all over the World, not a few guys in Geelong turning out b grade cars like we once did. I do enjoy your content as its refreshing to hear from a challenger brand like the "The Right Car" Similar to GWM. But i think you should judge the car on its merits not its country of origin. This will sell well in Aust and gain a cult following like the Small Suzuki has as it ticks so many boxes. The people who will be worried are the mainstream brands who will lose sales to this up and comer. Looking forward to more great content.

Hi Matt, I took one for a test drive the other day all I can say is wow loved it. I put an order in for the hybrid version in Feb got to wait until mid late September 🤞
I'm in China, had my TANK300 for 6 months, love it. Seems a few differences between the Chinese and Aussie version. I have the 2.0LT Conqueror (top spec here) 1. The Chinese version doesn't have the weird af blinkers/indicators - they screwed you there. The blinkers stick up and down as you would expect here. 2. We have AutoNavi SatNav installed - it can be 3 finger swiped across to the main driver screen and controlled separately, so you can run two separate screens with GPS with different angles, or gps on the driver and cams on the main screen. 3. The seat belt in the Aussie version seems to have some weird plastic stuff added that rattles. 4. Comes with Cooper ATT/AT3s (swapped out for KO2s) 5. Comes with 2" tow receiver 3rd party aftermarket for parts here is pretty vibrant in China (Yunliang, TopFire etc), but I am really really hoping that this sells well in Aus and SA, that might get us some love from ARB, FrontRunner and others.
Thanks for that comment mate. So amazing to get some context from its home country. And I feel there will be a big aftermarket scene developing here around these new rigs. Needs a GVM upgrade first and foremost!!
@@therightcar Yeah right... Problem with China, GVM upgrades are not strictly speaking legal... BUT.... if someone were to do one abroad, I am sure it wouldn't take long to make its way over here... and stricly speaking there is so much Grey area here... Yunliang are pretty highly respected, and I could see them importing something in but it would never be a legal GVM upgrade.
@@therightcar I just got back from the Suzhou GT Car show, in the off-roader section there were hundreds of built out TANK300s, but most exciting were the number of companies with full GVM upgrades (not legally upgrades here), most of them are looking for export partners. I expect domestic Aussies will fill that space pretty quickly.
Thank you Matt great job . Mate I have around 50k to spend on a 4WD , i wanted to get a ford Everest but when I saw your review I changed my mind. I don’t see any reason to pay 70k for a Everest that even cant match the features and the warranty of the Tank. I bought the ultra petrol version for 48k. I think it is a bargain.
Fords these days are not fords of old days. Google ranger problems before buying Everest. Ranger Everest are same running gear. I've owned 2 rangers and 1 Everest. All I can say is I'll never buy another Ford. It's normal to have engine major issues 140k km. Before 140k km expect ongoing issues. Hope this helps you.
Already applied for auto loan to get one, pretty exited about it. I use to drive Jeep Wrangler but they are going crazy expensive, it's just not worth it unless you are heavy off road that goes to trails every day, for people that occasionally do offloading this car perfect.
Test drove one last saturday and place an order for the grey ultra. The ride quality and driving feel just blown me away, it was comfy, more composed and fun to drive. Did not have any issue with the blinkers. The engine was responsive and the 8 speed automatic transmission works like magic. I know people have complained about the payload. I dont tow, and I will never tow..so no issue for me. And for the rear wheel lift, well I have been driving for last 20 years and never had to brake that hard in any situation, and if I had to well it can happen with any car. And I will deal with it accordingly. End of the day my money my choice my car. Same goes with other people too. I have no hard feelings for all toyota lovers. I can not afford a 70 series cruiser. So this is it for me. Peace

Mitsubishi sold a total of 515 cars in China in 2022. And last 2 months, 0. And wait time for Tank 300 is about 6 months from ordering to delivery. I bet you the Chinese consumers are not dumb especially with thousands of options.
After a few days with the car I can report that the indicators are a non issue. Took about three turns to get used to them. The emergency lane keeping is a nightmare - turn it off as part of. The start up routine. Other than that I’m loving the car.
Hey Matt great review. Have test driven the Ultra petrol and really loved it. Found it felt sturdy, roomy, comfy and just fun to drive. Have now ordered one and can't wait to own and drive it!
Good content, Matt. Love your fair reviews and bringing up critical details that many other videos do not. And, yeah, this is one terrific vehicle. What a great value for money! King of this price range!
@@huafengliu Having worked and lived in Africa, I have seen many examples of poor Chinese quality - first hand. Admittedly this was over 10 years ago now. Price was always their key selling point. In the long run, it's false economy in my experience. From cars that last only 3 years before falling apart (replaced by Toyota), copy pirate medicine, cheap energy saver light bulbs that last only 6 months, wall sockets that burn out when plugged in and even copy "Close Up" toothpaste. Do you think there is another reason for my concern about Chinese built cars?
Nice review .The lane keep assist could be set up through short cuts and turned off very easily. The blinkers just take time to get used to .I will be ordering this car shortly.I drove it and was very impressed.
I tried to set the emergency lane keep up through the shortcut menu drop-down and it wouldn’t allow it. And the blinkers? Sure. If you drive in certain scenarios, they’re fine. Just don’t indicate when you merge on a motorway and you’ll be sweet. 🤣
Impressive! I looked at one last weekend. Was VERY impressed! If their 'little' car can be as good as this one, cant wait to see what the TANK 500 serves up!
Just lightly tap the blinker to merge/change lanes it stops after three blinks! If you push hard it's for a cornering. When muscle memory cuts in it'll be automatic 😉
@@therightcar hey Matt great review - just like BMW if the blinker doesnt turn off (ie you were heavy handed and went to the bigger turn mode when lane changing ) just tap it again in THE SAME DIRECTION ( not the opposite direction) It will turn off immediately without the unintended consequence of flipping the opposite direction indicator on ... V=Cheers Stu 🙂
Can't comment on the Tank but I've had the Canon ute for a year and think it's wonderful. Certain unintuitive features on the Canon that the have rectified with the Tank which is a positive. I would certainly consider this vehicle in future without doubt.
@@therightcar it's a combination of both but once you adapt to it all, it's just fine. Stoll the most spacious, luxurious and comfortable interior of any ute I've sat in.
I was Cash ready to buy a Scorpio last week, went to test drive and sign up, the B Pillar is halfway along the drivers seat, so if you are over six feet two, you physically Cannot get into cabin. Then the stench of the vinyl is like a school camp with cheap tents in summer, the odour will make you turn away. This is the smell that will permeate every Aussie summer.
There is good news that the version of the tank 300 equipped with a 3.0T gasoline turbocharged engine is being tested. Estimated power data: 3.0TGDIT power/horsepower/torque: 260Kw/353Ps/500Nm
Hi Matt, after your review of the tank 300, I'm sold. I love all the features that come with it. I'm looking to purchase one in feb 25. The hybrid version 🤙
It is that car. And they don’t do that all the time, but it does dive at the nose a lot. I’m driving the hybrid soon - hopefully it behaves differently.
I cant for the life of me figure out why they went with that indicator setup, had the same issue on the freeway. Upside, the rest of the tech is VERY nice for the price range, WAY better than all the utes I checked out as options for myself. From what I see though, Cannon is getting a very similar interior upgrade with the 2024 facelift, borrowed from the Tank300, which we may have to seriously consider for our 2nd car. I was seriously surprised how roomy and comfy it was for my frame (6'3 solid), head height was great too. Fuel usage isnt bad when you consider those numbers arent all that different to a diesel ute now, and diesel is way more expensive at the pump. Savage Tech seem to love it, so will have plenty of options to be kitted out with... We were told by a dealer the price will go up at the end of the year though, so may have to be a sooner rather than later but for many.
The same indicator setup is appearing on a few new cars, Chinese and otherwise. I have heard tell that this system is a lot easier to convert to RHD (fewer unique parts) but I don't really know if that's accurate or not though.
I've had the Tank 300 petrol ultra for a year now, It's one of the best cars I've ever driven. In fact Matt was instrumental in my decision in purchasing the Tank. The downside is the fuel consumption and the ELK keeps turning on everytime I get into the car (which I understand is a feautre in all new cars). The indicator stock can be annoying at first but you get a feel for it after while. With regards to quality my right rear tyre pressure keeps decreasing slightly faster than the other tyres. Not sure if it's a GWM thing or a tyre thing, haven't had time tot get it checked out as I live in remote WA. Early on I had some rocks lodged from trucks crack the top surface of my windshiled. Had it replaced with RAC. As for everything else it's been perfect. I've done over 15K and most of it is long distance on crappy country roads with some city driving and beach dune off roading. It's extremely smooth, extremely comfortable and enjoy getting in everytime. It's my meditation machine. Happy with my purchase so far. Will update this comment in another year.
Test drove the hybrid and the petrol version on the weekend, I bought the petrol version, it drove alot better and I just enjoyed it more, pick it up next week.
I got mine 2 days ago and its absolutely amazing the wheels angle are really good the tech is on top i throw A/T tiers there is no turbo lag comfortable the sound system is a WOW 570 km of range combined city and high ways
I'm looking at the tank 300 and am also looking at the ford Everest ambient it's a hard choice tbh I like the look of the Everest a bit more but love all the feature inside the tank, but then I dislike how it isn't a bit bigger like the Everest! It's a hard choice I currently own a 2021 gwm cannon x and I love it. I'll have to take both for a test drive
The payload is a dealbreaker. If you tow the full 2500kg in the hybrid (adding a tow bar and fuel), you have less than 100kg for you, your family, your stuff and any other accessories (bash plate, bull bar, roof racks). Even the 50kg increase in the petrol is too low for a family vehicle that is designed to go off-road. I can see a lot of naive owners finding out the hard way that they’re overloaded and not insured.
@@EastWood2004 The cheaper Cannon from the same company has almost triple the payload. It’s got nothing to do with money it is a sign that they didn’t bother doing any local research or engineering between China and Australia.
For the indicator cancelling, I got excatly same 'issue' with my old Subaru outback. Usually happen when passing small around about, the indicator will get stuck, have to wait car going straight for few sec to cancel it.
Would you buy it ? Yes, I would as the value for money and the versatility of this vehicle is a perfect match for me - rather than buying a used alternative which has run out of warranty for example. As you say, it's a 'hybrid' of many designs but having been a long time owner of Landcruisers (just sold my '95 70 series) this wagon reminds me of them but is so much less expensive to replace. The Tank 7 year unlimited kms warranty and the fact that it's petrol rather than diesel also appeals as diesel here in NZ has Road User Charges which are penalising and have to be paid up front rather than petrol . I'm guessing any software glitches like lane keep assist being too agressive will be sorted out (rather than having to put tape over the front camera, which one dealer suggested to me !). Having watched a few off road videos of the Tank I'm very impressed so I'll be taking a test drive soon. I'd love to see a few more recent videos of driver experiences in Australia.
Finally a half decent vehicle from GWM . Maybe they are finally on a massive roll in regards to quality & reliability . Hopefully a diesel may be an option at some stage, but still , this is a pretty good effort.
Just driven one & I'm finally impressed . A few shortcomings but overall it's very , very good. Could do with a diesel which would nail it . Good Work GWM
This is a 4x4 with a ladder frame chassis, the fuel economy is justified, i thought it would have been worse(like 12kpl). Between this and the 5 door Jimny I would probably choose this because its more sorted tech wise(not talking ADAS, no one cares about that). The only new peice of tech the 5 door Jimny gets its push button start which may not even be coming to outside markets. Plus you can probaly walk out the showroom with one of these as opposed to the Jimny which already has a 6 month waiting list in the home market.
Thanks mate. Appreciate it! I shot the review for the XSR a while ago but held off as I think there might be more news on the Cannon coming early in 2025 (more powerful engine and new interior stuff).
For a bit of a tip blinkers will cancel every time if you do it slow or just hold it for a quick half second and also air control physical botton do illuminate at night 😁
I have been waiting for this one. I am 4-5 hours from a dealer. I have contacted them about a test but they dont have any 300's yet. What will this mean for me if I purchase one and have warranty issues and have to drive 10 hours round to have them seen to? I rang their head office and asked if there is a possibility of a dealer in my region any time soon.
they have been in china for over 3years, also in russia for years, do your home work and go buy one, there sick, plenty of power, nice to drive, very cool
Why don’t you include the Ssangyong Rexton as another option. We went with the Mahindra Scorpio. The Rexton was at the top of our list but we did not want to spend the extra 8 grand over the base Mahindra Scorpio. But 2 months since the Scorpio launch, I’m still waiting for the tow bar for the Scorpio. Something I need as I’m always towing a trailer behind our family car.
I didn’t include the Rexton because it’s a lot bigger and diesel+seven seats standard means it really appeals to a different buyer, in my mind. Costs a bit more too.
You ask what to compare to. It looks nice in that colour you have been testing. Compare the Tank 300 to the Toyota Fortuna. Does the petrol model have enough grunt low-down revs compared to a diesel-powered 4x4 ??. The Tank 300 doesn't look to bad. Thanks for the video.
Thanks mate. Glad you liked the video. I have no doubt the Fortuner and Tank would be very different in terms of the drive experience. That diesel in the Toyota is grunty as, where the GWM’s engine is more refined and revvy.

Great review Matt! The GWM Tank 300 would be completed wasted on me! Haha! I don't want to tow anything and I don't want to go offroad, which might explain my lack of adventures driving ability, however, this is the first time I've actually gone ... "Hey! This is bloody good" for a Chinese SUV. I absolutely don't need a vehicle like this, but now I'm even thinking this would look good in my garage! The GWM Haval Jolion and GWM Haval H6 have previously caught my eye, but not like the GWM Tank 300! I love the way it looks and I do consider this to be an affordable option in the Medium SUV segment. The elements that you don't like, I think can be overlooked, as you've said. It's just a shame that the spare wheel cover isn't colour coded to the rest of the vehicle and doesn't house the registration plate, like that on the outgoing Mitsubishi Pajero. The placement of the rear registration plate looks like an afterthought, as does the black spare wheel cover. Having said that though, I'm only nitpicking! Also, it's great that GWM decided to include a two tone alloy wheel design on the petrol version at least! One of my pet hates on the new cars these days, is black roofs, black allow wheels and then those stupid 'Black Packs' or 'Black Editions' ... back in my day anything black on the car was a no cost option and usually meant you were buying a povo spec car, which there is nothing wrong with that! Love some povo spec cars! I'm surprised you didn't mention one in particular Stellantis offering, the Jeep Wrangler when you mentioned other SUV's that the GWM Tank 300 passes some similarities with, though secretly, I can't wait for Mahindra to release the Thar here, just to really sick it up them! I'll give it 2 year max and Jeep will be long gone from the Australian market, unless they start cutting prices by $15k at least, which we both know won't be happening! They are a premium brand now, remember! I have seen two petrol versions on the road so far here in Adelaide, both in that Dusk Orange, one with personalised plates and the other with premium plates, so I hope we get to see a few different colour options on the roads! On a side note Matt, would you consider doing a video on some industry news, such as issues/elements that are making cars so expensive in Australia and what issues/elements are driving this? If you believe everything you watch on TH-cam, the price of shipping and semiconductor chips has fallen a lot, yet the prices of vehicles continue to increase here. Not everyone can become a premium brand in Australia, with their premium pricing, so eventually something will have to give. There's only so many buyers in that segment of the market can consume that amount of vehicles at those 'premium' prices'. Cheers mate!
Thanks so much for the comments mate and I’m glad you found the review interesting and fun! As for the Jeep - it’s like $85k now, so it’s not competing at this level. It’s not as good a car to live with, either! I’m sure I could dabble with some advice videos, for sure. Been thinking about a new podcast with a good mate of mine… maybe we could do it on TH-cam too!
@@therightcar I'm definitely encouraging you to do some advice clips, whether it's a podcast or on your TH-cam channel! There is definitely a space for someone like yourself to keep people in the know. And lets face it, someone has to keep the b$#@%ered honest, so it might as well be you and your team. Like most Stellantis brands, Jeep has lost the plot! RAM is the only brand succeeding in Australia at the moment. But that's only going to last until the federal government introduces it's upcoming fuel standards, then we'll see the market really take another hit!
Hi Matt. Mate I’ve got an Everest sport on order and due soon. Love the tank but slightly worried about boot space. How do you think the 2 compare in the real world? Cheers
I like the Tank for its on-road manners and the turbo petrol engine is a peach. But the Everest is a MUCH larger and more practical car. If you want to go touring and off-roading with gear and family, the Ford wins easily. If you want to cruise around town and don’t plan to spend a week living out of the boot, then a Tank would be a great choice.
What do you mean 'terrible roads in Sydney'?? We drove in Sydney in July and August while being on holiday. You haven experienced our roads in Northern England (UK)!!! Sydney roads are smooth compared to our rutted, potholed roads. Love your review of the Tank. Wish it would be available here, would be great on our roads.
I've test driven two hybrids - really like them overall - especially the straight line speed it gives you ; the relatively nimble & predictable handling on road . Ride comfort a big tick also
Do you discuss the GVM? Seems woefully low with a payload of only 394Kg (that's for the Hybrid - don't know about the petrol only one). That's not going to cut it in Australia if you need to tow anything...
@@buncha5651 Sure - but if you weigh 90Kgs, and your missus weighs 70Kgs and you have 3 kids that weigh 40Kg on average, that's 270 Kgs. A bull bar would be useful: 60Kg Maybe you want to pack a BBQ: 10Kg So now you're left with ~50Kg, which is hardly enough for a few drinks and food and your iPhones and the few other things you might want to take on a picnic. Going on a 4WD trip? I don't think so. Can't have a roof-rack. Forget about an awning. All you can do in this is the school run.

I like your review format btw, really puts it in the buyers perspective and asks the questions of why you would want to own it, and you're also quite unbiased in your review instead of simply being lost in the hype (which seems to be quite common in these type of cars which mainly sell on passion and excitement like Jimny and Tank).

I hear you but the infotainment system is also pretty subjective in terms of appraisal when it comes to the features and usability. I liken it to Android phones. If you’re an Apple user, some of them are like a puzzle to work. Others are more intuitive. I don’t want to tell people what to think about the media systems if they have different expectations and wants/needs/tastes, so I don’t want to dwell down too deep on it. Thanks for the thoughts though!
@therightcar I'm an android user! So when it comes to smart tech, I'm very specific and picky. Last i drove MG HS +EV for work trip. The android auto Google map on mg infotainment got delayed 2 seconds after a few minutes following directions. And that's what bothered me.

I just love the look of this I think bigger wheels would have been better also the colour choice is so limited a silver a grey and a blue would be nice I wonder if we will get the cybertank here that looks incredible
Good comprehensive review mate. Sub'd. In answer to your question...I would take a five year old Toyota over this for the same price. My reason is predominately for reliability, longevity, and durability. GWM do not use the best quality steel. They do not paint the body completely so corrosion will be a guaranteed future problem. In my opinion, GWM will ensure their vehicles are good for the warranty period and after that it will be on the owner. I am an aircraft mechanic who maintains my own vehicles so I am interested in the bits 'n bobs the general public are not aware of or care about ;) Thanks for a great review.
I'm not sure if I agree with you, especially on the quality of steel. Tank 300 has a 5-star ANCAP safety rating and there are videos of offroad accidents where it rolled down from tall sand dunes & mountains (because people go to town with this thing lol), the body maintained its original shape even after multiple extremely heavy flipped-over impacts and the passenger are well protected. I'd be worried if I'm sitting in a 5-year-old Prado.
Your Test Vehicle .. be honest, where will it be in 10 years from now do you think .. or basically, are all these cars form china throw a way's after warranty runs out .. Cheers ..
Agreed, nobody seems concerned about ownership of these cheap Chinese imports over the long term! I guess if you are leasing the car over 5 years you don't care. What really concerns me is that no car reviewers are asking the question!!
Do you ask any reviewers these sorts of questions about Japanese or Korean cars? Come on. China is an automotive powerhouse and anyone who thinks that cars are designed to last 30 years these days is kidding themselves!
Hi Matt, loving your car reviews. Just wondering since you had a chance to test drive both the hybrid and petrol version, does the hybrid offer more real grunt especially on take off. I have test driven the petrol version yesterday and in both sports mode and normal mode. I found the normal mode very ordinary, however, if felt very adequate in sports mode. Not sure spending an extra $10k to buy the hybrid is worth it especially if I am only going to keep the car for possibly 3-5 yrs. Keen to know what your thoughts are . Keep up the good work
Hey Wally, thanks for the comment mate. I haven’t driven the hybrid on road, but it did feel perkier. Like, if it was me, I wouldn’t spend the extra for hybrid. It’s too high a premium, I reckon. Hopefully I’ll get to drive a hybrid one at some point. But it’ll be months until that happens.
Well with all of the mainstream Australian media getting the news, opinions and "analysis" about China from the Australian Strategic Policy Institute (an anti Chinese think tank thats funded by American weapons manufacturers) is it not surprising attitudes about China among some of the Australian population isn't great. Right now American is in the gripes of anti-Chinese hysteria (they've done the Russians, Africans, North Koreans, North Vietnamese, Arabs, Muslims...time for the Chinese now) so the Australian mainstream media needs to make sure Australians align with our great ally in who we're hating and fearing this time round to prepare for yet another American military adventure.

Thanks! I don’t care where they come from.
@@therightcargreat to know you're not carcist 😂
They never like to include the fact their beloved Rangers and Hilux are made in Thailand.
Who is they?
True, its 2023 and I was in Shanghai auto show. Guess cars from which country had the most people crowding around? They have come a long way...
They should be labeled as such... People want to know who they are supporting.

Hi Matt, I took one for a test drive the other day all I can say is wow loved it. I put an order in for the hybrid version in Feb got to wait until mid late September 🤞
Awesome! Congrats. I hope you love it!!
Are you going to do a road test on the hybrid version ?
Have you got yet or when are you expecting?
I'm in China, had my TANK300 for 6 months, love it. Seems a few differences between the Chinese and Aussie version.
I have the 2.0LT Conqueror (top spec here)
4. Comes with Cooper ATT/AT3s (swapped out for KO2s)
5. Comes with 2" tow receiver
3rd party aftermarket for parts here is pretty vibrant in China (Yunliang, TopFire etc), but I am really really hoping that this sells well in Aus and SA, that might get us some love from ARB, FrontRunner and others.
Good one mate! Glad you found my review helpful - and I hope the car suits your needs!
Peace

After a few days with the car I can report that the indicators are a non issue. Took about three turns to get used to them. The emergency lane keeping is a nightmare - turn it off as part of. The start up routine.
Other than that I’m loving the car.

I guess we'll see soon enough!

Can't comment on the Tank but I've had the Canon ute for a year and think it's wonderful. Certain unintuitive features on the Canon that the have rectified with the Tank which is a positive. I would certainly consider this vehicle in future without doubt.
Good feedback mate. I bet the unintuitive bits are on the screen / controls?!

There is good news that the version of the tank 300 equipped with a 3.0T gasoline turbocharged engine is being tested. Estimated power data: 3.0TGDIT power/horsepower/torque: 260Kw/353Ps/500Nm
That would be a whole lot of car. The turbo 4 in it is better than adequate. I think they should prioritise making the GVM, payload and GCM better!!
Hi Matt, after your review of the tank 300, I'm sold. I love all the features that come with it. I'm looking to purchase one in feb 25. The hybrid version 🤙
isn't this the car where the rear wheels momentarily leave the ground when braking?
It is that car. And they don’t do that all the time, but it does dive at the nose a lot. I’m driving the hybrid soon - hopefully it behaves differently.
@@therightcar how soon ??
Thanks for your affirmation of the stupid indicator situation! Haha. Great feedback mate.
Love this - thank you so much mate. Glad you’re loving it!
Hopefully some software changes coming for it with the safety spec.

Hopefully a GVM upgrade is coming.
Sounds like 5 door Jimny will be a better 'option' in terms of payload!
I guess time will tell.

Thanks again for commenting mate!
Thank you Matt. The best review in my opinion. You got me thinking now.

Not here, and not by me. You can speculate on that if you want.

Do you discuss the GVM? Seems woefully low with a payload of only 394Kg (that's for the Hybrid - don't know about the petrol only one). That's not going to cut it in Australia if you need to tow anything...
Not everyone wants to tow anything I don't.
@@buncha5651 Sure - but if you weigh 90Kgs, and your missus weighs 70Kgs and you have 3 kids that weigh 40Kg on average, that's 270 Kgs.

@@therightcar Matt, do you know when Chery will bring out the Tiggo 8 PHEV. Read somewhere it may happen in Q4 this year. Chery does interior much better than GWM it seems.
400kg load capacity? Was sold until I read that.
Yep, GWM needs a GVM upgrade!
you are a good reviewer we r lucky to have some of the best car reviewers in this country, keep it up subscribed and bell is pressed, just let me know if there is anything else i can do, and one request, do one collabrative review with paul from car expert and tom from chasing cars like all phone reviewers do,
Thanks for that!
I appreciate the feedback - and I’ll check in with Paul and Tom on that. Could be fun!
Paul and I have shot a few things together in the past for CarAdvice - you’ll find them on the Drive.com.au channel these days, after the buyout.
@@therightcar - yes the Pajero Sport v Colorado review comes to mind, Paul did not like the cold weather up in the Blue Mountains from memory.
Did you try the voice control, in my memory it is so convenient
hopefully next time in the car's review show some infortainment cameras features, qualities and responsive. The acceleration and break pedal respond. Parking in experience because they are large car is it easy to park in with the camera views.
Thanks for the comment. I don’t like to spend heaps of time on the infotainment screens as they could be 20 minute videos on their own.
@@therightcar is 2023... now day the infortainment how friendly user and responsive are important as for many drivers today. Just like mobile phone comparison how compvenient. Because now many young people who wanna buy car also looking at what infortainment can do and how convenient can be since so many function control via infortainment. Yes it would be great if they keep all the important physical buttons and knob like the old day is great! But now many new car is all built in one stupid infortainment. Some are laggy some are stupid weird users way and some other annoying features included etc etc and wondering if there is an inbuilt dashcam and memory storage.
Did you try the voice control, in my memory it is so convenient!
I had issues with it. Same with the Bluetooth phone microphone misunderstanding most commands for Siri.
How does it compare to the Mahindra Scorpio?
I think I prefer the Tank to drive. But I’d have to do it back to back to confirm that… good idea?? 😅
When is the diesel version coming???
There won’t be one, bud.
Matt when are you going to review the hybrid version? Thinking of getting one want know if the hybrid is worth the extra $$. My use is not much off road.😊
Great review
Thanks!
Can your review mid option GWM Tank 500 and compare it with 300
When it launches in Australia I’ve got plans to cover Tank 500. But it’s not here yet!
Interesting to see what they are like off-road
Hi Matt!
Did you try the massage seat ?
Wanted to know if it’s a good system like in a Volvo with individual airbags, or is it a crap system like in the VW’s where it’s just the lumber moving back and forward?
Cheers,
Sorry to say I didn’t.
when 7.5L / 100km ?
Can you do a comparison video Mahindra vs GWM?
If I can manage to get them together, I’d love to!
What about new Toyota Prado 250? Looks similar.
It wasn’t out when this video was made. Also, likely to start at $75k!
I just love the look of this I think bigger wheels would have been better also the colour choice is so limited a silver a grey and a blue would be nice I wonder if we will get the cybertank here that looks incredible
I would wait a few years to see what the reliability record is but at this stage there is no way I would take this car to any remote area.
Fair enough. Hypothetically - which would you prefer to go out bush in: this? Or a Jeep? 😁
@@therightcar Fair question, probably this because the Jeep would be the absolute last on my list.
The biggest issue is the tiny payload,
Ish indeed.
Probably a great second hand buy for the rough stuff, wait 3 years and you will get one for the price of a new septic tank.
I like it but what about seven seats
Tank 500 coming soon. Stay tuned for my review!
I had to Junk a Jeep 2015 after 7 years .........................
@@shaun1900 I'm sorry, another brand I would never buy.
Do you ask any reviewers these sorts of questions about Japanese or Korean cars? Come on. China is an automotive powerhouse and anyone who thinks that cars are designed to last 30 years these days is kidding themselves!
first they say this to Japanese cars then to Koreans , they now say this to Chinese.
No thanks, hard pass from me. that said good review Matt, getting to 10,000 subs before August, great stuff.
Thanks mate. If it happens before August I’ll be stoked! Cheers for always coming back and having your say.
ELK functions need to be set off all the time, no doubt about it.
Wish there was a way to set and save that.
Is GWM planning on releasing an EV version of Tank 300??
We do have hybrid tank 500 in China 2023, but not sure for 300, i dont think it has enough room for extra battery.
Jeep's internal mail adjusts prices across the board to deal with GWM cars
If only. They need to correct their prices.
258KWS/615NMS..!! I'll wait for the hybrid then laugh out loud knowing that to get similar numbers, you're looking far north of $100k...
Very true.
💯
Depreciation is going to be a killer on this. If the Haval H6s MY22 vintage is any benchmark then expect at least a 10k loss in year 1
Maybe. But look at Jimny - resale was in POSITIVE territory for a while, because cult following.
I'LL BET YOU DO NOT DISLIKE THE PRICE. IT'S DAMN GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY. WE HAVE A TANK 500 HEV IN THAILAND. IT IS JUST GREAT!!!!!
NO NEED TO SHOUT!
I love it!
Cool!
I'm going to rent this car in China next time i visit and head off to the mountains near Himalaya. The price looks like €18 euro a day include insurance... here to check all functionality in advance😂
Wow that will put it to the test.
Nice car
Looks like will be popular with nomads that dont tow.
Probably.
Price is great
Sure is!
