For Amos Tutorials check out www.youtube.com/@YawningAngelRetro And I will be at Amiga Kickstart 02 on the 29th and 30th of June 2024, I hope to see you there!
I still have the original copy of that AMIGA POWER cover disk - with THE ATTACK OF THE GREEN SLIMEY ALIENS FROM PLANET and MISTER AND MISSES 😹👍. Both of them were weird, when i gave a first try on my Amiga 500 😹👍🕹️. Also, you shared this video purrfectly on my birthday 🎉🎊🎈🎂 😹👍🕹️. That's right, on 18th of June 2024, i turned into 41 years old 😹👍🕹️. A big retrospective like 👍🕹️ from Vantaa, Finland 🇫🇮 😺👍🕹️.
except for CU May 92, these were my first 3 magazines for the Amiga! Legend is still one of my fav games on the Amiga, that game does not get enough modern recognition, but I may be bias. Mister and Misses actually looks really good in the later levels, if you can get on board with its style.
Legend is one of those games that looks interesting but never played back then, and I'm not sure I have to time to get into now. Which I feel is a shame. Yeah the art style leaves a lot to be desired, but it was a lot of fun to play.
Bomber man was supposedly renamed to Dyna blaster over here because of the situation with the IRA bombings of the time and to avoid negative associations. Dont know how much of that is true but I think I remember that about it at the time. (i had the boxed version with the extra 2 joystick dongle, it was fantastic!)
I was today years old that I learned that the Indiana Jones action game actually was a thing! I know it was planned but never caught a whiff of it since it was announced
The laser in Stinky Aliens varies length because it's a draw limitation - it can only draw three shots on screen at a time, so as soon as one vanishes, another is fired. Mega Man is a good example of this, running around with the default shot.
5:04 I suppose that if you have already a borken joystick you could just shake the base for an easy winning ;D Spectracolor has stolen the same icons for the tools from dpaint.
I also found out that you could [pointlessly 😆] cheat in those joystick waggling games on the Amgiga by plugging a mouse into the joystick port - Just moving the mouse a little bit makes the game think you're jiggling the joystick at an inhuman speed !
20:46 I believe (not 100% sure) that Chrome was originally the demo George Allan sent to Gremlin who got employed there and the game became Venus The Flytrap
Mr & Mrs was fantastic, though even the first level was too much thinking for 10 year old me back when I first played it. Would play the tutorial map (by entering LUDWIG as the password) over-and-over-and-over again though
I didn't even spot that there was a tutorial level, but I could see how the first level would be taxing. It took a few attempts to work it out my self 😁
I still think you should rank by disk as a whole, not by demo/app/whatever. Other than that, always fun seeing these videos, brings back a lot of memories.
Either way would work, but you needed to have the library or the program to unpack them. Which they didn't provide on the disk, so you needed to either already have a copy or use the one they provided in the previous month.
I've not, mostly because I don't really have the same nostalgia or experience with them. I'd most likely continue a series I've experimented with in the past, and that would be to do deep dives into PC cover CD's.
Its more like shareware, but shareware as a term wasn't all that well known in Europe on the Amiga. so some people called their cut down games they then sold from home PD demos.
AGAIN - you completely missed the spell creating system from Legend! Legend is comfortably the best game in this selection, and this demo was pretty big. Go back and try the spell-crafting. You'll be glad you did. It remains the best spell-crafting system of any RPG. It is like a programming language for spells.
I did, in the back of my mind I knew there was something that I needed to look into. and the magazine even gave a great description of how to use it. I know back in the day I would have gone back to it and learned more about it.

Aw I remember buying the cu Amiga mag, for the whole reason I like the girl on the front cover, I was a 13 year old lad!… brilliant video again😁
Ohhh that "Duck" shooting gallery unlocked a memory 😮
hopefully a good one!

A big retrospective like 👍🕹️
from Vantaa, Finland 🇫🇮 😺👍🕹️.
Happy birthday, I hope you have a great one and got something Amiga related as a present!
Amiga Power seemed strong this month!
except for CU May 92, these were my first 3 magazines for the Amiga!

I loved Drip I played that tons.
Yes Sir! I love your work, thank you smileyemoji.

it was more that even that it felt a bit random in how well it would space out those shots.
I think we bought the Amiga Format issue; I remember Croak and Quickmoney, getting the most out of the former.
5:14 Haha, the last Entry is a nice shot at Atari Users! :D
5:04 I suppose that if you have already a borken joystick you could just shake the base for an easy winning ;D

I heard this as well: and a preempt to Venus the Flytrap
First of heard of this, but it would make a lot of sense.
19:57 that a copy of the Sega Arcade Game Carnival it seems to be missing some features like the moving pipe that was in the atari 2600 version.
Mr & Mrs was fantastic, though even the first level was too much thinking for 10 year old me back when I first played it. Would play the tutorial map (by entering LUDWIG as the password) over-and-over-and-over again though

Doing it by disk could be a possibility, but at this point its mostly me saying which 3 things were the most interesting to me.
@@GouldFishOnGames I.e. which mag to pick up because of the greatest cover disk. Just my two cents though :)
Use PowerPacker to unpack them ? Not just the PowerPacker Library ?
Either way would work, but you needed to have the library or the program to unpack them.
Which they didn't provide on the disk, so you needed to either already have a copy or use the one they provided in the previous month.
Have you considered comparing PSone and Saturn discs? :o
I've not, mostly because I don't really have the same nostalgia or experience with them.
I'd most likely continue a series I've experimented with in the past, and that would be to do deep dives into PC cover CD's.
Either Chrome is based on Venus The Flytrap or the other way around...
What is the difference between a demo and a PD demo?
Its more like shareware, but shareware as a term wasn't all that well known in Europe on the Amiga.
