On the part when you copy the games over 21:13 on the video i made i mistake lol, in the F partition make a folder called "Games" then copy the game into it.

What about the people that extracted the eeprom from a stock xbox with a non working hard drive? Will this still work? Or is there another way to replace the hard drive without being softmoded or tsop?

Yea so just follow the video and then when it comes to the lock part at the end use the key from your eeprom file using the "load from eeprom" button and you're golden, then you can mod it after. FATxplorer Beta formats all the files and structure you need of a stock Xbox hdd.
for copying games i can get a max of 100MB/s (bytes). To get this xfer speed i place my xbox drive on a SATA output on my computer and i put my source xbox games HDD on a USB 3.0 adapter... VERY! awesome :)
@@kipper2k That's another nice thing about this method, it allows a faster process for transferring games. It's so much faster than hot swapping and then FTPing the games to your Xbox if it's a big library of games.

But I think I know what the problem is. I tried using my simple SATA-to-USB cable to hook it up to my computer rather than buy the Unitek HDD Adapter, and I'm guessing that means the program can't actually lock the drive. Am I right?
okay, so you need the USB adapter to plug the HDD to the pc for FATX to detect it? can i not just plug it in with a SATA cable to the motherboard? You need this specific usb adapter so that fatx will allow you to lock it afterwards. You need the other adapter to power it. With that method you’re talking about, that will simply not work.
Question I have a Xbox that is code 7 so I have to get the eeprom off the bad drive into the new drive 1st do u cover that if the drive is bad? IE Code 7 drive?
@@gotembro Error 7 is usually a timeout issue to the hdd. Check all of your cables on everything. Second, if the hdd is stuck in error 7 than hopefully you got the eeprom before that happened.

Couldn’t we use the USB device that locks the new HDD and a USB to molex 4 pin male connector to power the new HDD. The one you linked is $35 and it seems like over kill.
yes the one that locks u can use with a molex as well there are several ways to do this. These are just recommendations, as long as it can lock from fatx and you can power your hdd then you are good.
I know when you clone drives on xbox, you need to change jumper to slave and master. Does any of this matter before I try to make a hard drive. also I have a hard drive already full of games and nulled to all 1's but I need all the games off that one to make a clone. is it safe to insert that drive and transfer F and I believe G, lock it and put it back. just afraid of ruining it to mod a 2nd xbox. awesome video ive looking for this for a long time and nothing anywhere.

Ok, one other issue came up. I was able to "clone" my drive with your method. When the XBox boots it only gets to the loading screen and then it is just gray. I didn't copy the Shadow drive to the new harddrive and I am wondering if it is missing that to boot? Seems like it would need that for the softmod/skins, etc? Thoughts?
You just need the E and the real C , however this is all based off of if you already modded your drive with rocky 5 beforehand. So this should all be working. Did you lock the hdd?
@@Adio-j I did Rocky 5 softmod, yes. I confirmed the drive locked too. I added XBMCGamers skin before I did the clone as I wanted to make sure everything was ready. I noticed that after adding that, the drive had a lot more data in the Shadow C drive. That is why I thought I might need to copy that over? I have been searching all over and cannot find an answer, lol. Was thinking maybe just starting over and trying again.

@@TheGeokaiser Yes, using the Xbox Partitioner tool but backup all your data on all partitions before doing so. Be careful too read carefully on the help button. When formatting partitions it does wipe the data that's on that partition just so you know.
I FTP into my Xbox and copied all the folder over to my PC, but Filezilla said not everything was copied over. Does that matter, or should I back up a different way?

Is this a good workaround for the power source of the HDD? I never used an internal HDD like this. I’m debating if I want to go this route. I liked your video. What’s hurting me on the hot swap isn’t having a OG Xbox controller. Chimp wont start with my logitech controller. It just blinks
@@Al_sajd You can use this method for hard mod with chip, however I am not entirely sure if this is the exact way for hard mod. The method I demonstrate here is for soft mod.
Could this work on a HDD that’s throwing an error 16 code? Like to reset the HDD that’s already in it? Or is this strictly done to format new ones? I’m trying to find other troubleshooting things cause I’ve seen so much for 16 codes so I’m trying to find the best route.
@@DeadByApril1995 It could, I will say this tho, in most cases that I have seen, error 16s can also be thrown out from bad dvd drives. Try swapping your dvd drive and then if you still get the error, reach out to me and I'll help you further I have one method that could work.

Tried this method because hotswapping kept making my xbox shut down, then my computer when I powered it from that. I did everything according to the video. Now I am getting a 07 and 09 code when I plug it in. I am wondering if my ide/sata adapter is no good. My hdd is on the compatibility list.
Yea so this would be a Hard drive time out. This is when your hdd can't be found. I had the same problem once, my xbox kept throwin 09 and 07s at me, it turned out it was not my adapter but my SATA Ribbon cable. I had damaged it back before i knew how to fold them properly. Got a new one, and was perfectly fine.
@@Adio-j I will try that next. The cable works with the original hdd. I have a startech adapter coming tomorrow. I went through the compatibility list and checked all the fatxplorer users. At least one person reported it being the cheap adapter. They said it worked fine with startech.
Is there a way to do this without access to the original HDD? It's died on me mid swap :( Doing everything in this video only to get error 16 on the new HDD. Is there a way to get an install of C from somewhere that isnt the original HDD?
@@theolympiccity32 Error 16s can be thrown out from a few things, check your cable, check your adapter, even tho a dvd drive powers up and works, sometimes it can still be the case. They often become corrupted on hot swapping for some reason. I would completely replace your dvd drive and then see if you still get the error.

SMART supported/enabled: True. Do you know what can I do?

If it does with the adapters that I use than it must be your hard drive not being able to be detected. Always double check your connections, power source and pin for slave and master. Make sure it's on master.

@@krishpatel715 Check your dvd drive, try a different one if you have a spare. They have tendencies to corrupt sometimes even tho it is plugged in and running it can still go bad. I can't tell you how many times that's been the case.

How do you copy the ORIGINAL HDD EPROM’s and other info needed for the NEW HDD? I don’t believe that was shown very clearly :(

Ok, I was able to use "NKPatcher Settings" and FTP into the xbox and copy over the partitions, but 12K files did not transfer over

@@Adio-j Update: I was saving my back up in my server when it failed. Placed it in a Drive on my PC and it transfer worked.
Did everything and my Xbox does the regular start up and freezes shorty after the words Microsoft come on
@@BL4CKandBLUE I've never seen that happen. Replug everything in. Plug back in the old hdd and let me know if you get the error

@@Adio-j installing the star tech got rid of the errors. It boots into a blank screen now after the xbox logo.
