The short film project "Regrets of the Past" was realized by a team of local filmmakers whose goal it was to create a high-quality sci-fi movie in Austria, based within the Star Wars universe. The crew diligently focused on the visual language of the film which tries to adhere as closely as possible to the original trilogy developed by George Lucas in the 1970s.
The story is set after the events that led to the inception of the Galactic Empire (Star Wars - Episode III) and follows the fate of two fugitive Jedi knights. Pursued by a bounty hunter, Pash Sularen and his Padawan Kaila Dain crash on a remote plant and are confronted with their past.
Principal photography took place in Austria from 2013 through 2015, followed by one year of post production. The crew of 150 consisted mainly of working professionals in the Austrian film industry who supported the project in their spare time.

All these Star Wars Fan Films I've watched this afternoon are amazing on such a small budget. THESE are the people that Disney should hire to make the feature films. They understand the HEART of the story, which got lost in Episode 8.

Yeah I’ve spent my entire day off just watching amazing films. It’s so great and because they’re done by fans they know what we want to see, stories for adult fans of Star Wars, not 2hr long toy commercials

Wow. Fans have a much better awareness of what makes a good Star Wars movie. This and other fan made movies perfectly illustrate that a good story is more important than the best special effects.
Amazing what a bunch of passionate people can accomplish with next-to-zero budget.
Quite nice and somewhat original story, combined with decent acting and impessive special effects. Congratulations, this is truly enjoyable!
Rainer Putzinger “Next-to-zero” is relative. Compared to a real Star Wars film, you’re right that it’s negligible. But I’m guessing it wasn’t cheap either. The costumes, makeup and special effects aren’t bad, and that takes money to make happen. They must’ve done some decent fundraising
I agree completely Rainer Putzinger. I also noticed when Vader's ship left at the end it seemed to show allot more detail in the way it moved the the landing gear and wings. I don't think It was ever that detailed in any of the Lucas or Disney films. Excellent job all the way around.

Could have used a better script writer. The dialogue is pretty lame. And so is the fight choreography.
@@geohar4292 at least we respect SW enough to not have pretty much purely human cast. Maybe I like the prequels and the Old Republic too much but every time I see another Fan Film with human Jedi... I can't help but cringe and wonder.. why
So yeah I quite liked this Film had a couple non-human Jedi as it should be - an improvement for sure

WOW!! As an OG Star Wars Universe fan, I want to thank you for this incredible extension into our Galaxy. Your actors did a great job bringing the characters to life, wonderful script, and feature-film level FX.
I've been a part of this since the beginning back in 1977, and have been assembling a personal library of S. W. novels ever since, well over 600 now.
Your story-line fleshes out an incredible part of the of the formation of both the Empire, AND the Rebellion. There is so much yet to be explored in this particular time-span.
This was the first time I've had the opportunity to see one of your films, will definitely be on the look-out for more!!!

I fell in love with this in the first 5 seconds! Awesome effort. Probably won’t win an Oscar but this beats attack of the killer tomatoes by a mile!
It's people like these that make Jar Jar Abrams and KaKa Kennedy look like clowns. Imagine if these guys and others like them had even 1% of the budget disney spent on one of its horrific abominations... Congratulations and keep it up!

Judging from end credits scene, I am actually hoping to see a sequel to this great film some day. Would love the see more of Kaila Dain! The actress who plays her is so awesome and beautiful. Loved the rest of the cast too...

WOW Finally a Fan Film with a real plot a complete story that holds together, good scenery etc etc acting all in all a great film. Great that that friend of Kaila's returned ti the jedi light side.

These books will cover the "Wars" about to come, the catching up / the blessed hope, World judgement, hence the Tribulation and the Great Tribulation! These books will also be the most ominous and scary for the unbelievers and the most exciting and uplifting for those who believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior!...
It is my hope and prayer that people would repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ before all these things take place, because it is going to be very, very scary if you do not and you decide to wait and see what happens.

One of the best fan films I've seen. Well written and acted. Reminded me of some good Star Wars roleplaying games I've been in. Well done!
I applaud the effort undertaken here, and the original story. Few plot holes I noticed are: exiles wouldn't know who Vader is, and the Jedi wouldn't know that Vader is Skywalker. I'm quite glad to have gotten the opportunity to watch this, however, and appreciate everybody who helped put it together so well.
The Force is with this film!! You guys have the aesthetics & wisdom down! I’d rather watch this than Last Jedi any day; keep it up guys!

Master Sularen is one hell of a badass, doesnt fear Darth Vader one bit... Ready to sacrifice for his apprentice. Love how she deals with Stormtroopers with a blaster as though she would pity them thinking "I don't want to finish them off with my overpowered skills, I'll take them down with a blaster instead, fair and square."
You guys did an amazing job ! The story was interesting, sets costumes and props were on point, and the actors did a great job, especially those playing Pash Sularen (strong Qui Gon Jin vibes !) and Kaila Dain. Looking forward to seeing your next work !

I really like the Twi'lek. You did a great job with this villain; starting out with good intentions and slowly been consumed by the dark side. Even to the point of caring more about his rage against the Jedi than unlocking that holocron.
Great job overall as well though. Even the music felt right in Star Wars, though you didn't use John Williams' score.

Loved the origin story. How it showed how a dedicated Jedi can be seduced. It had so many events it was more satisfying than recent large budget Disney trash films. ❤️it. Want more.

I'd like to see mode films like this one because it was everything that makes them worth seeing repeatedly. fans always want to know what is going to happen next if sequels are going to be made.

What a fantastic film. I would like to thank everyone involved in putting this together, it was very enjoyable to watch. For me, rarely do fan films stir an emotional connection or a feeling of investment with the characters, this piece of art manages to do that. The quality of all the moving parts (story plot, acting, pacing, sfx, audio, cinematography and even the voice over dub etc.) is exceptional and you can really feel the love that went into this project. The action sequences hold true to the original trilogy and I felt they did not need crazy acrobatics or stunts to convey the suspense (too many fan films focus on action, often times cheesy). All in all the only thing I can end with is kudos to the cast and crew and, I hope you produce more content in the future.

Great fan film! I found it better than the stupid Last Jedi and Farce Awaken, yet this cost probably just 0.001% of the money to make those!
This is the best dan film i’ve ever seen
This was good story telling. The production I felt took itself seriously, before I knew it i was involved with the characters. They don't have the Disney budget by no means. At this point I didn't care, as we used to say bravo my hat is off to you and your whole team. From the PA's, assist Dir and the Director and the script writers...be well to all. I do hope for more productions. 😎

Pretty well done - a fan film with some history behind it.
It was good to watch a fan fiction film which relied on storytelling rather than flashy lightsabre fights! There’s some moments I’d question - like essentially throwing away your only weapon at a bounty hunter, but definitely thought that this on the whole was a really story with legs.....
I have the original soundtrack on vinyl and the first three comics. Been a fan since I saw the original movie in 1977 at the age of twelve. Great project.

I'm not sure, there's probably about a dozen things in each scene that could be argued are copyright violations, the non-commercial status of fan-films should exempt them though.

Jedi reflexes are so fast sometimes the appear to be in visual opposition...can you tell I am a retcon junkie when it comes to star wars? And mcu/lost/back to the future

Pretty good! The dialogue could use more work, but when making a film with very little budget, it’s actually extremely top notch! I’m sure it’s exceeded everyone’s expectations when it was done with minimalist funding & a lot of volunteer work! Great job for making a film without having millions of dollars to do it! Hopefully Hollywood will recognize it & hire the people who worked on it!
