His live shows were on point, 100% professional. A lot of rappers that came after him their tours were kind of hoopty, half the time the rappers wouldn't show up and a lot of cost cutting hiring cheap staff and stuff.

The only projects that didn’t bang Blood or Crip from L.A. but the one projects with the biggest most dangerous gang home grown right there even 25 years after the projects were torn down. Sat in the grass with 50 people around him after the game and just talked. That was my first time ever seeing a celebrity.

It's amazing how time and distance seems to allow history to rewrite itself. Hammer and a group called PM Dawn came out around the same time. Their sounds weren't like what was going on in rap music of the day..Hammer style of dancing along with light catchy grooves and simplistic lyrics as well as his seemingly wholesome image helped him crossover to areas that artist of the day couldn't do. He helped take rap to a higher level commercially.. Hammer wasn't accepted by mostly east coast traditional rappers because of his sound and look and message. If it wasn't for MC Hammer rap wouldn't be where it's at today.

I'm from NYC and was highly offended when "Turn this Mutha Out" video debuted on Video Music Box, but then Hammer grew on me lol. Out of all my friends back then I was the only who tape recorded his music and eventually buying his tapes lol. He sampled Prince and Rick James. I used my signing bonus to get my mother and 5 sisters into a better neighborhood,when certain homies tried to join the military ( my mother told me this after I left for boot camp ) they weren't accepted because of felonies on their record.
I didn't know he was gangsta until his 2nd album. I was a kid at the time but my parents had the cassette. The way he was dressed on the album told me everything I needed to know. He was dressed so gangsta on the Album Artwork. My favorite song and the only one I remember from the album is "It's all good"...

It's amazing how time and distance seems to allow history to rewrite itself. Hammer and a group called PM Dawn came out around the same time. Their sounds weren't like what was going on in rap music of the day..Hammer style of dancing along with light catchy grooves and simplistic lyrics as well as his seemingly wholesome image helped him crossover to areas that artist of the day couldn't do. He helped take rap to a higher level commercially.. Hammer wasn't accepted by mostly east coast traditional rappers because of his sound and look and message. If it wasn't for MC Hammer rap wouldn't be where it's at today.

To me MC Hammer is a real man because he took so many people from his neighborhood and gave them jobs so they wouldn't be fighting or killing each other in the street and ask yourself how many people would have done that for the community.
