He was much more than an entertainer. He showed rap how to make money outside of the music. He had all kinds of endorsements and even a cartoon. Hip hop said he sold out but he pretty much laid the blueprint for extra streams of revenue that every rapper has chased since

@@danielland3767 What classic artists from 80s/90s are referenced as great by the current generation aside from the generic MJ/Biggie/Tupac/Jay Z answers? You need to establish a proper reference point. Gen Zers are complete autists with terrible taste and barely half a clue about reality. Everyone that actually lived through that era, as a kid, young adult or middle aged, can clearly recall just how big Hammer was and how EVERYONE was trying to do his dance moves. I don't think ppl are "just" noticing anything. I think like all music, it comes back around. When this video first dropped I was about 15. All I remember was gangster rap was coming in and Hammer was aging out. So he made a shock video in a speedo to an amazingly good song (this one) and it was not recieved well. The church was clutching their pearls. Then this version was released and baby we were all trying to learn the choreography. It slaps till this DAY. But a you said Hammer was funding so many entourage members that he ended up breaking himself and as for being called a sell out... well crabs in a barrel, ppl always try to make those getting $ feel bad when they know they would've been shaking it for Pepsi too if they were offered. It's too bad that he had the rise and fall he did but glad he's being given his flowers now. A new gen is getting to see how we got down in the 90s and hammer is a huge part of that. ❤

True
What a time to be alive…it was so fun back then
Hammer was an entertainer.
Nothing more...
He was much more than an entertainer. He showed rap how to make money outside of the music. He had all kinds of endorsements and even a cartoon. Hip hop said he sold out but he pretty much laid the blueprint for extra streams of revenue that every rapper has chased since
Just say you don’t know Hammer…
One of the most under appreciated Rapper/Entertainers of the 20th century people hated on Hammer so much and all he did was do him, show love to the legends and give back to his community in the process……smh🤦🏾♂️
Facts
How the fuck is he under appreciated? He was literally everywhere back in the 90s. Can't Touch This is still being played all over movies, TV and commercials. His dance moves are iconic and he is clearly recognized as one of the best performing artist dancers
@@OldManNutcakez but is he reference as great? You speak of talent & Hammer, Will & a few others will never be mentioned or even be referenced for one so g in passing
He came damn close to challenging MJ as the King of pop.
@@OldManNutcakez I agree with you, but underrate in this sense is how they are respected & name dropped often.
If I put MC Hammer & Will Smith in my top 5 entertainers I'd be unfriended & laughed at. Same with Nick Cannon.
However everyone can reference a Hammer song, knows at least one Smith song or loves his show.
Nick Cannon stays putting talent on & just keeps pushing...
Underrated as not rated in any top 10 list
This is easily one of my favorite choreography routines from a 90s video. The ex-NBA dancer in me needs this choreography asap!
Man them two leading dance females make me feel some kind of way! The moves, the hair, clothes.
Love it
One of my fav MC Hammer hits. He did that.
Yesssssss! Still my jam
@M. Wade
And
@Shaina Green
YES, he DID do that, and ALSO it's one of my FAVORITE songs by M.C. Hammer, TOO!!
💗💗💯💯👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾👍🏾
I 100 percently agree with cha
M. Wade. Hammer and I were classmates at Mclymonds high in west Oakland. He was already performing in school assemblys, while working as executive vice president of the Oakland A's. 10th grade. I feel privileged to know some of his family. Louis, Chris. There father Louis Burrell Sr, was my boss at the oaks card club in Oakland/ Emeryville in 88, 89. Very entraprenurual family
The scenes of Eric.B were perfect for this video.
People chose weed and thug life over true talent so hip hop went to the trash can!!!…..Hammer u an icon. I appreciate the hard work and effort to make your videos. Not trash hop like it is now in 2024-2025….
3:59 this is one of the best sequences I've seen in a dance music video. Say what you want about Hammer, he always put on a great show!
Yeah, he DID!!

I was always a big fan of how Hammer, Micheal and Bobby Brown dances. Those guys knows how to move effortlessly.
Yessssss!
lol 5 year old me 😂
Two things:
1. By no means is he my favorite rapper, but Hammer doesn't get anywhere near the respect he deserves for what he meant to the art form.
2. Those two main background dancers ... mother of Christ!
Hammers dance moves are LEGENDARY. 🔥🔥
As I look bacc Hammer wasn't a "sellout" He jus Had His lane and He stayed in it
Looking back on it, I realize he was the first to be targeted by .... The birth of the Hater movement!
@Rico Dixon
AND
@Andrenae Trammell
YU-UP.
He just was gonna DO his OWN thing, and NOT be a FOLLOWER.
His Family, Friends, and Crew 'ALWAYS' came FIRST to Hammer.
💯💯👏🏾👏🏾
Only thing Hammer ever “sold out” was stadiums.
@@RedEye19 Ayyyyy!!! 🙌
Y’all just crack me up with this sellout shit.. did the same thing to Whitney…
2025 Anyone??
You know it!!
Yes I'm here in 2025
🇳🇬
Yup
Yup, yup!
M.C.Hammer was ahead of his time never mind that he was labeled as a sale-out by fellow rappers and Hip-hop media. He knew the value of clean image and not isolating yourself to a certain category.Good P.R, to co-operations.Let us not delude ourselves in the end it's about money.A well rounded entertainer who could do almost all by himself. If he was to come back today he will be suprised how much love he has even those who could not see the bigger picture.
@Mbongiseni Khumalo
YU-UP, ABSOLUTELY!!
That's WHY TH-cam is playing THIS video!!
Because it's AWESOME!!
😁😁
A sell out as in to what and to who
WHAT FOR
He wasn't a sale out them haters
We have been that way but you did not believe in us
He really likes to do his work
The syncing of multiple human bodies & the music at 4:05 is phenomenal
That was smooth tho
best part of the video... i love that part ❤
Tuyệt vời nhất thế giới rất Hay hay
I love that part 🔥🔥🔥
You got to give it up to the man when he said you can't touch this.
Those two girls dancing lawd...Coreography is crazy with it
Puffy danced on most videos and they looooooved puffy,.........But bcuz Hammer was from west coast most west coast music was hated by East coast ,not even Knowing Hammer roll with Real street dudes From Oakland /MUCH LOVE AND RESPECT TO THE OG!
Damn I miss this era. This joint was the hit in the clubs and house parties.❤
Hammer always kept himself in shape, proud of that young man.
Bro!!!! This song is still 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Look at those dance moves!!
Damn all these well thought out compliments... WTF ?... were y'all born yesterday ?....where were y'all 30 years ago when Hammer needed your support ?.They pretty much thru this dude out of business. They came at him hard from all angles... from calling him a sellout because he did commercials and was very successful to saying that his Artistry wasn't "hip-hop" enough. This man took the B.S like an OG and inspite of that took care of his hood (almost to his financial detriment) Oh and another thing....Y'all just now noticing that this man is an insane dancer ?...Damn ! 😮😅😊
Probably youngsters, MC Hammer was the only raper my moms approved me to listen to back in the day, hammer was and still is a legend and I remember when rappers were dissing him alot of it was str8 jealousy because he was making hits, money and was successful as heck all without selling violence and street mess.
I agree.. Hammer been cold full support then & now
I don't think ppl are "just" noticing anything. ❤
The Dancing In This Video Is On Another Level!!!! MC HAMMER Is So DOOOPPPEEE!!!! 🥰❤️🔥
Hello! How are you doing today! Please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you're a fan!.... Stay Safe!
Nah can we recognize the 2 female dancers that's killing it and they who I watched all these years in this video ❤ shout out beautiful ladies yall did that! 🎉❤
Hammer was that dude man I don't care what cha haters say listen man....yo...
At 45 I still can do this whole dance routine even with a bad knee
In my dreams😂😂😂but I can definitely do it still 🔥🔥
Nobody hit Dem movies like MC Hammer. Bring those moves to 2022.
Thanks for liking my Comment
Hammer was an innovator. He has been forgotten, but he brought dance moves and sick clothing fashions, and he definitely had it together with the rhythm and liricks
Trust me, he hasn't been forgotten. Especially here in Oakland, where he's from
He Never was a sell out to me HAMMER HAD SERIOUS SKILLS PLUS I BOUGHT ALL HIS TAPES FROM THE START AND I STILL PLAY HAMMER HE'S IN MY TOP 5 OFF ALL TIME TO BE REAL
Boy when you add Aaron Hall to the mix it's over fam! Class-SICC joint!
all his peers in the industry who clowned him for his dancing must've been secretly jealous of him. Hammer was a beast when it came to dancing.
Only heard this song for the first time last night it’s dope loving it ❤
Esta rola es un tributo alo mejor de lo mejor no hay canción con tal ritmo es un hit olvidado por muchos 👍👍👍🇬🇹🇬🇹🇬🇹
I still love this song, the dancing, the energy...he always had a good concert...back in the day.
