- Alexi Laiho (1979-2020) teaches guitar playing in a television program with other Finnish top guitarists.
Alexi seems to improvise a lot and criticizes his own performance saying he messed it up. But Iiro is very happy with him.
Man i was smiling the entire way through this but once he smiled at the end i instantly shed a tear. Still miss this guy and still listening to CoB everyday since he passed.
Me to one of my favorite bands
I saw them live when i was younger at the 2008 gigantour with megadeth and since then i always loved him as a guitar player, and really enjoyed a few songs of theirs, but he happened to die on the same day as my birthday and since then i went down the CoB rabbithole. Downloaded the whole discography on spotify and have it on shuffle any time im driving. I can listen to pretty much any CoB tracks at this point without skipping over anything. Spotify told me at the end of last year i was one of the top 0.5% listeners for the entire year. One memory ill always remember about him was when i saw then live, they went into the intro of Dont stop believing by Journey on the keys and then Alexi had an entire arena of metal heads singing along to Journey. This was also before that song was terribly over used and i could actually stand to hear it lol RIP Alexi
Also the last album HEXED that they put out is absolute perfection. The lyrics seem so eerie on many songs now that he's passed away. Its like he knew where he was heading. That album imo makes the discography come full circle. Its right up there with the earlier albums.
@@ShiD-FARD Rabbithole.. I also bought all the CD´s to my car after Alexi died and I´ve been looping them since whenever I´m driving. And last year I was driving mostly because of that, nowadays it´s too expensive fun...:(

Good to see him enjoying himself and not taking music life too seriously all the time, we all miss you so much it still feels wrong to be living in a world with you no longer in it :(
What I find awesome in this interaction is that you have this veteran Jazz pianist who’s having a blast playing a blues jam with a Melodeath guitarist. The most open Jazz musician I’ve ever seen.
Iiro Rantala is a great jazz pianist and composer. And also a very funny man.
Since my young years, he was my idol for 10 years. Rest in peace beautiful person.... I will never forget you...

When i watch videos like this with Alexi. I often hold back tears. TRuly A one of a kind Metal guitarist. he had his own sound. difficult to do in such a saturated world in modern metal guitar players. Such a sweet guy at heart and and a kind soul. Amazing Talent. TRuley missed and not forgotten.

Alexi definitely knew a thing or two when it came to trading licks back and forth with the keys/piano.
And here I am, two and a half years after his death with tears in my eyes full of joy to see him smile and sadness that hes gone… rest in peace wildchild…

I didn't follow Alexi Laiho's career while he was alive, but I don't know how to explain it, in all the videos I saw he seemed like a nice guy, escaping the silly stereotype that they create for some musical styles. Randy Blythe(Lamb of God) also has that same aura.

Wow, I didn't know he passed. Seems like I just saw him a couple years ago at a local club. I expected he'd long outlive my old ass, and have a brilliant musical future. This piece was a great, fun cover of an old favorite.

I’m just honest. If you isolate the guitar it sounds like a beginner and he would annoy the hell out of any band. It’s something any musician should master within the first years of playing.
Hes not a Jazz player. Straigt up metal head.. Dont take music so serious. But i agree.. Not very good timing..i play jazz..but i cant play Aleksis stuff in time Ever never..he was Finnish humble guy....got same proplems is life like i do, i became straight..no alcohol about 14yers...solo is ok.. But this was a Tvshow from Iiro Rantala.
They just play something..... Realize that if these two genius goes in studio.. Making music.. They play in time.. Trust me!!!

There is, where Alexi f.ex. tells about his technique and views about playing and demonstrates them. But making a clip requires adding translated subtexts, which is a bit of a challenge. Also Alexi was a well educated musician and uses terminology, that is strange to me. But maybe I'll try it. 👍
