when drew said “speaking of three decades ago let’s talk about this movie from 1994” I became acutely aware that time is an illusion and we aren’t in 2012 anymore
I'm, like, afraid of whoever thought of that and went "yeah, that's a good idea," and put it in the movie on purpose. Somebody there approved of that and it's honestly disgusting.
That last film could have been so much better if she just had like a babysitter sort of "date" with him before where she just has fun with the kid and isn't worried about trivial adult things, she clearly knows he's interested and all, but she could've just continued to be nice but keep her distance, but they filmed it like there was actually like some sort of romantic or sensual tension there. And that damned kiss makes me feel sick to my stomach. She should've just kissed him on the cheek or something, or talked to him like a teacher or counselor or really an adult with any semblance of responsibility that PLATONICALY cares about him, because that kiss was just so disgusting to see, she literally looks like she's 4 times his ag, the kid's character wasn't even in double digits. Why the hell was that ever approved? Who thought that that was a good idea? And how many Priuses can that actress's therapist buy?
Yeah, that adult woman looks like a huge creep in this movie, especially when she fully gave that kid a long and deep kiss on the mouth! Does it freak you out seeing her sweating and shivering while staring at the boy during the scene at 11:30?
"She should've just kissed him on the cheek or something, or talked to him like a teacher or counselor or really an adult with any semblance of responsibility" This would have been better.

Kids have crushes on adults all the time, but it’s never supposed to actually GO anywhere. Adults are the ones responsible for keeping their weird mitts and mouths off the younger person. Ahhhh hOw was that scene ever approved
Yeah, the little boy having a crush on a gorgeous adult woman is perfectly natural, but seeing her being obviously attracted to him makes this movie borderline illegal! Does it freak you out seeing her shivering and soaked in sweat while staring at the kid during the limo scene at 11:30? I was scared she was going to invite him to spend the night at her house
This reminds me of this girl I knew in college who thought it was so cool that she nannied a 9 year old boy. She called him her “minecraft boyfriend” openly and proudly as a 22 year old woman, and always talked about how he’d tell her he loved her. She got engaged, and he got really upset because he thought they were in a real relationship because this bitch didn’t set healthy and appropriate boundaries with this kid, and played with his feelings
I feel like it should be stated that kids/teens having crushes on adults is fine and normal because they don’t know any better (i.e. a student having a crush on a teacher). HOWEVER, if the adult pursues the relationship, then the adult is 100% at fault and deserves to be in jail for the rest of their life.
As a future elementary school teacher, exactly. The thought of a teacher responding to a student in that way makes me want to jump out of my skin. Either you don’t respond to innocent compliments or just leave it at “thank you”.

That's why there's a warning on certain Disney movies that basically amounts to "some scenes in this movie are racist by today's standards". @@wonderbookk It was okay when it was made though so I am not bothered by it. How come this sort of thing happened all the time? It's not like there could have been a shortage of male actors who were teens like their female co-stars. Why is she always a teen and he's always in his 20s??
@@RedMoonSolitarythe most generous guess i can give is that they wanted their teen girl audience to be able to relate to/see themselves in the main character while she lives out the fantasy of falling in love with a hot guy. with few exceptions men in their 20s are better looking than teenage boys, and it isn’t uncommon at all for teen girls to celebrity crush on adult men and imagine romantic relationships with adult men. so it’s like a self insert fanfic. not that disney should have played into or normalized this of course! in the tv shows and also many of the movies at the time they portrayed age appropriate relationships, but in some of the movies they portrayed the hot mature dude who sweeps you off your feet, which is a fantasy and not a realistic scenario. so maybe they thought about it that way, like the viewer could also distinguish fantasy and reality, but of course their audience isn’t going to be that critical or discerning so in the end it doesn’t matter. i don’t see why they couldn’t have made, say, camp rock with nick jonas as the love interest instead of joe, but nick jonas definitely had a different/younger image at the time and i guess that just isn’t what they were going for. there are also restrictions for working with minor actors that don’t exist for adults, so it’s probably easier production and budget wise to have as few minors in the film as possible. plus adults are usually better actors than teens, so it’s just easier for them to cast an adult. in the end it’s all financially motivated, because that’s more important to them than portraying healthy examples of relationships for teen girls in every single movie.
funny how disney censored the scene in lilo and stitch where lilo hides inside a washing machine, but they decided to keep a scene depicting an inappropriate relationship between an adult and a child

Can we talk about how Disney found it appropriate to keep that kiss in the movie but they found it necessary to change the washing machine to a pizza box in Lilo and Stitch
She didn't actually kiss him on the mouth - although it is HEAVILY implied. She kisses him on the space between his nose and his lips. Because of the angle of the camera her chin covers the view of his moth, thus making it look like she really kissed him on the lips when she actually didn't. - I hope this knowledge stops someone from vomiting. Also NEVER watch "Interview a Vampire" when Brad Pitt kisses 11 year old Kirsten Dunst. She has said publicly that is was gross b/c he was like 35 at the time. It was not a stunt double- it was actually her. 🤢🤮
Still now that i revisit it, it still feels horrible. I remember watching this movie SUPER SUPER long time ago (like back when the original Live Actions american movies and tv shows used to play on disney india instead of Indian adaptions) and i remember seeing the kissing scene but i didnt understood anything. Now after re watching nearly a decade after, i just felt super disugsted, stuff like this shouldnt be here.
I understand where you are coming from with the comparison to Interview with the Vampire but I also feel like it’s worth noting that the kiss in Blank Check is a full on romantic kiss making it inherently pedophillic while the one in Interview is a peck between a father and a daughter. That doesn’t take away from the fact it was uncomfortable for Dunst (also worth mentioning her full quote "At that point I was a little girl, and he was like a brother to me," Dunst said. "And it was very weird even though it was a peck. I was just very not into it. Other than that I was treated like a total princess on that set.") But it’s still worth noting the big difference between the two.
bruh... but also yeah most actors in movies do kisses like that. and this vampire stuff reminds me of that movie with the teenage girl whose brother got abducted by david bowie and she has to get him back. Like there isn't any subtext in the movie about them being in love, they have this weird comatose dance scene thing together, which is weird, but like. arguably alright. but then you read the comments on it and it's full of these middle-aged women talking about how they had a forbidden love or whatever???? and like??? no??? not at all??? what the hell???
@@florencegosselin1924Wasn’t the whole point that the goblin king had fallen in love with her and kidnapping her brother was to basically get her to exchange herself for him? She didn’t fall for it but he played his part pretty well. When you’re a kid you think the most evil thing about him is kidnapping a baby and threatening to turn him into a goblin and then you realize later that the worst thing was him using all of these tactics to manipulate and coerce a teenage girl into marrying him. There were no romantic feelings from her toward him though. I think that ballroom scene entranced the audience more than her. 😂
Why is it that when young girls and adult men are “coupled” in TV, it’s 100% of the time portrayed as a bad thing. The girl is usually troubled, the man is a predator, and goes to jail. But when it’s young boys and adult women, it’s just funny/cute. Like not only is that just,,, bad. But it tells young boys watching that they’re lucky to be with adult women, it’s not predatory, it’s cool. So when boys come forward with their stories and trauma, they’re laughed at and told they should be happy. Like it’s not ok and these movies should be taken off Disney. I saw another video by I think Kurtis Conner where it was an adult woman and a little boy, and she used the same “call me in 10 years” line. Disney allows pedophiles but not Love, Simon. Ok.
Rayene Boussetta Its not taken seriously because you see men and young teen guys praising the boys that get with older women, most of the time you don’t see teen girls and women praising a little girl for getting with an old pedophile. Men think differently than what woman do and most men not all talk crazy like that.
The kissing scene in Black Cheque, despite being reprehensible in-universe, I jumped right out of the scene and was just like "that actress! Did she not care that she was kissing a kid like that!?!"
True! The woman fully read the script then she still agreed to give the kid a really long and deep kiss anyway, and just like any other movie, they probably had to film sevaral takes of that scene
Remember the movie "Big", where a child in a man's body dates and has sex with an adult woman, and then they agree, after she finds out the truth, to see each other in a few years, and somehow she isn't trying to destroy the part of her brain that realizes what she did? It would have been seen as so much different, if the sexes were reversed, and these were adult men who were making moves on little girls.
Tell that to Japan releasing anime that features exactly this. There's a fascinating and weirdly progressive (for the time) but like definitely also problematic anime called Fushigi no Melmo that comes to mind where a 14 year old girl (I think) has pills that can age you up or down and her transformation into an adult involves an upskirt and a blush as she becomes an adult, so even worse not only are people hitting on and expressing sexual feelings towards her (which they do and the show even makes it a point to say that's wrong at some point), but more than that they turn you the audience into someone who leers at a girl in an adult's body with the camerawork which is just... a lot of nope. Tbf it's a show from the late 60s but given what I know about the current state of anime and what I have seen recently we're not much better, it's actually got a charming aspect of attempting to (and doing a decent job for a show of the time) explain and explore aspects of puberty, sexuality, and science through the whole concept of pills that age things up and down.
That was always the only part that I hated about the movie. When I was little, I didn't care. But now that I'm older, it's creepy. Like, you can't blame her for sleeping with him before she found out but like, after? What the heck? And then, why did the directors let that happen? What were the writers thinking?

If I may offer an alternative to lifelong imprisonment, perhaps mandatory isolation away from children, coupled with therapy and rehabilitation until they show substantial improvement with maintaining their involuntary orientation? And then continue to monitor their behavior and require regular therapy sessions afterwards? Cuz you know... it's a genetic problem they suffer with.

Yeah, so many of those romantic Disney movies and tv shows back then starred actresses in their very early teens with boyfriends played by actors who were adult men. Weird!
@@rickylafleur5804 you are terrifyingly fixated on this subject after commenting this exact type of thing over and over for months straight. go to therapy

Idk, i thought it was pretty hot when i was like 11
why would they censor that? i've never seen lilo & stitch

I watched ' Never Been Kissed' with Drew Barrymore on disney+ the other day after never seeing it since the 90's and I was a bit shocked that a teacher was falling/fell for a student but in the end it was ok cause she was undercover as 25 year old reporter but he thinks shes a mature 17 year old.

BRBBOWFLEXINL4D never been kissed made me so uncomfortable because of the point you made and how she was “dating” a kid to seem normal even though she was a grown woman
cos times change and what is allowed and not allowed changes too
Why does Drew's delivery of, "It takes place on 911," make me laugh every time??? Also, if anyone's interested in seeing a movie with a much more respectable portrayal of a kid having a crush on an adult, I recommend Hesher(2010).

Holy shit. It's nice to see you here.
Other than that I was treated like a total princess on that set.")
But it’s still worth noting the big difference between the two.
How would you even use a stunt double for a kiss?
bruh... but also yeah most actors in movies do kisses like that. and this vampire stuff reminds me of that movie with the teenage girl whose brother got abducted by david bowie and she has to get him back.
In 6 years the kid would only be 14, thus him having a relationship with the adult woman would still be completely inappropriate
He's actually 12 in the movie. So in six years, he'd be 18.

Ok.
Idk, would have still went after my hot teacher
Periodt love
It's just how society is unfortunately, pedophilia is not taken as seriously when it's a young boy with an adult woman
Facts, it's sickening
Rayene Boussetta Its not taken seriously because you see men and young teen guys praising the boys that get with older women, most of the time you don’t see teen girls and women praising a little girl for getting with an old pedophile. Men think differently than what woman do and most men not all talk crazy like that.

@@Royal_Fortune so shouldn't it be African?
