This is how you build cars, kids. No unnecessary bling, all go and no show. Once you build a car properly, the beauty will come from its natural form. Look at how nice this Evo sits. Best part is, it will drive and perform great but is reliable because you allocated time and energy into areas that need it.
Have always loved the first gen Evos. To this day they are still so cool in my eyes, especially considering they were Rally cars for the street because of early homologation rules. Even with just 400-500 HP on tap, they felt like they had more. Down here in the Bahamas years back, you could see a couple on the road being daily driven but not anymore, you only spot them every once in a while now
It's not "technically" a DSM at all. The DOHC 4G63T engine existed before DSM's began production in the US. It was used in the Galant VR4 starting in 1987, a good 3 years before DSM's were sitting on showroom floors. The engine in that EVO III has some similarities to a 2g DSM engine, but simply having a 4G63 under the hood does not make anything a DSM as they were used on a ton of other Mitsubishi vehicles during this time period.
Technically not a DSM. DSM was joint venture ( diamond star motors) Chrysler and MMC mostly in the US. They made talons, the eclipse and lasers. Eventually DSM became Mitsubishi North America …..and it’s still a 4g63T
I totally forgot it was RHD. I'm sitting here watching this while saying " David's not even driving it. That blows." Then I realized...........I'm an idiot and he was driving the whole time hahaha
Such a time capsule of a car, god I love these old evo's. Jackie Chan doing the 270* slide to park in "Who Am I" gave me the bug for these cars when I was a kid. Glad this one is in good hands, these cars need to be saved!
This is difficult to watch. A DSM is an American car. The Evo III is not a DSM. The first 4g63 was used in 87. That's where it started, not the 2g, not the 1g... The 2G actually has some interesting differences between the Evo CD and CE9A cars. This Dandelion CE deserves a proper review. Beautiful car in a super rare color.
So I realized that the DSM line really were built different because if you look at the cars they used to produce (Idk how many units of each one), its amazing how its still part of the biggest "what if" conversation with what they had to deal with. Still shocked if they would've existed today 👀
What a great build in a timeless Evo 3!! Im still a little preferable to the X (Owned 2), but WOW!! You can literally see the nostalgia from this classic. Great video!
The Dandelion Yellow CE9A and the Nayez Blue Pearl CP9A were immortalized by two movies named respectively "Thunderbolt" by Jackie Chan and "The Legend Of Speed" back in the mid-90s among that generation of enthusiast from the cantonese diaspora around the SEA region. To me these films would be the "Fast and Furious" Car culture films of that era that exposed my peers to the still contained JDM culture. Back then my country could recieve a metric ton of surplus JDM front end from hacked up scrap cars on a weekly basis due to Japan's 5 year shaken mandate, Many japanese car owners would rather trade up and scrap their cars over some minor collision so the alternative DSM scene that i know of kinda started this way, just with discount lancer and mirage chassis instead of AWD eclipse chassis over at the states. This one really hits home seeing that the EVO 3 has finally cleared the import requirements, more people could get to taste these forbidden machines over at the western hemisphere.
