The Fiesta ST is incredibly direct and has that 'rawness' most cars just don't have anymore. When you drive this car you feel connected to the road. Comparatively the Focus ST feels like a plush Cadillac after an extended drive in the Fiesta ST.
I got an ST3 a few weeks ago. Last car was a 2006 WRX STi. Fully forged and 365bhp/400ft/lb. AWD beast. Far faster, harder acceleration 4.2 vs 6.9… the ST is such a fun car to drive. I actually prefer it and am glad I changed! No need to find V Power constantly, far less gear changes, it drives gently far better and is more fun at sensible speeds. Practical too. Don’t miss the Impreza much at all.
I've got a 64 plate ST2 with the MT215 upgrade, its just pulls hard in every gear, only car I've had that I look forward to driving every time. Love it!
Thanks for your video, I ordered my Fiesta ST in September and it should be delivered next week. I also got the Mountune MP215 kit. I went for heated seats, cruise control, tinted windows, auto lights, auto wipers, sat nav, heated windscreen, and a 5 year warranty extension. Paid for it 18500 eurs (I live in Italy) which is about 13350 GBP
+festaboy21 In italy there are no such things as ST1 / ST2 / ST3 trim levels - basically here the car comes standard with climate control, sony stereo with bluetooth/applink, heated recaro seats, auto lights and auto wipers. All the rest (rear view camera, sat nav, keyless entry, folding mirrors, heated windscreen, tinted windows, cruise control, small spare wheel, etc) are optional extras.
As somebody who is looking into purchasing an ST this was a great video to watch, answered all of my questions and like your presenting style. Listening to that engine made me jealous too =)
Good honest review. I also have an ST-2 Fiesta with MP215. MPG around low 30's but can get over Ford's acclaimed figures, occasionally. Who buys an ST and worries about that? My 1st service cost £115 which was very reasonable at a main Ford dealership. I could see myself replacing this one with another as it puts a smile on your face. I would replace with an RS should Ford include one in their 20 performance models before 2020.
Enjoyed your review. Thanks for posting. I recently picked up my '16 Kona Blue FiST. What a blast to drive. My commute back and forth to work, which sucks dirty ass, got much more enjoyable.
Enjoyed listening to your comments! We live in Cape Town, South Africa and have a 2014 model bought from the first owner at 7,000kms for R210,000 (that's around 11000 pounds...with service plan etc.) Most fun vehicle for the bucks around in my humble opinion! Outside of freeways our road conditions are not ideally suited for the sports suspension and my wife refuses to sit in the back seat..! That's the only gripe, but the real reason for commenting here is very annoying situation of Ford S.A. refusing to allow to allow modification packages like Mountune which is approved and fitted by Ford dealers in the UK. - with the story that our version here is specced differently. Would love to have a response from someone in the know over there....? We now have the latest Polo, Renault and Peugeot hot Hatches out performing the current ST.
Had my Fiesta ST since Sep 2014, most fun car I've ever bought! No complaints whatsoever. On my 3rd set of tyres at 42,000. Bridgestones did 20,000, Pirelli Zero-Neros did 23,000. Currently have Riken Raptor ZR's on and so far they are softer than the Pirellis. Only mods are bigger intercooler, Braid wheels, short shift, stainless downpipe and catback exhaust H & R coilovers, Cobb rear engine mount and stailess brake lines. Best mod was the Cobb AccessPort. Dyno'd with 190 at the wheels and 271lbs/ft to boot!
If the hand brake is applied, a 50 pence sized hole appears to the rear of the handle. Things I have lost into this abyss.... 50 pences McDonalds fries 501 light bulbs Fags 1 pound coins SORT IT OUT FORD other than that, I've owned this car for two years now and its amazing. Reliable, fast, sexy and cute!
ive had my 2017 fiesta st-2 since august 4500miles of fun and handling is second to none,,am old school mk2 rs2000,,this fiesta is like a go-kart love it
Great video, thanks. The day I actually pick one of these up, two years after I first test drove it, I think I'll wet my undies with sheer unadulterated delight.
+festaboy21 Cool if you choose to sell over the next couple of months please reply to this comment so I'll know and I'll keep an eye out anyway. If longer than that I might've bitten the bullet myself by then :) Thanks for the vid, good stuff mate.
Had my st for nearly a year and I still love it! The two things that are a let down is the interior and the seats but honestly, I couldn't see myself getting rid of it. 😊
People saying the ride in the fiesta st is harsh have never driven a civic type r. Compared to fn2 the fiesta st feels much smoother over speed bumps and on the roads. I don’t think the st2 comes with satnav as standard it’s an optional extra where as the st3 models all have satnav. I just sold my fn2 for a fiesta st2 and it doesn’t have satnav
YoungNhan I love it so far. Takes a few days to get used to the snugness of the recaro seats and the stiffer ride, but like he said you get used to it and only notice these things when a passenger brings them up. It does use more gas than I thought it would. I do mostly city driving and I average 9.5l/100km. The run flat performance tires it comes with cannot move in the snow as well. Having driven in the snow with summer tires for many winter seasons I assumed I would be ok, but I found out the hard way these tires are useless in the snow. Once you get on winter tires though it handles great in the snow, taken it out drifting a few times and am looking to try out a local rally course next year. But yeah these minor things aside, like all the reviews of this car say, it is a lot of fun to drive. blown away by the handling. If your looking for a cheaper performance car (hot hatches, si's, frs/brz's) I think it's the best car at this price-point.
totally agree with your comment on the angle of the seats, iv had my ST for 6 months now and still cant seem to get the seat to suit my driving position. i also agree with the ride, its rough but i personally dont mind it when im alone, i become very conscious of it when i have passengers though
I have the same problems, but I fixed it with using 16" wheels. But it looks not as good as the original 17" wheels. The 17" wheels are really heavy & they are really contributing to the feeling of a bumpy ride
A lot of negative comments about reliability etc in the comments. I've had my Fiesta ST for 2 years now and it's not had an easy life. It's stage 2 Revo tuned and is driven in a very "spirited" manner. It's not missed a beat, not had a single problem! On a side note about the ford springs, you won't scrape at all, they don't drop you very much and they do improve on those bumps a little! Worth a look buddy. Great video :)
Great vid and overview bud!! Went for a spin in one today...15 plate with 12k miles and MP215 Upgrade....fastest thing i've ever driven and i've had some quick cars!! Was grinning like a cheshire cat and i'm 44 😃 You were right....bought it straight away ! Can't wait ❤👍
+Garyjames1701 Found the ride a tad firm for a mile or so...and thought no way i aint having it....but it won me over very quickly! Mind you my current car...a 65 plate Auris Hybrid being a comfy ride didnt help....and no im not some eco head...i'm a car builder at Toyota 😃 The little ST made me laugh so much 😂😂 Have you any good recommendations for insurance? Just realised can't go through the mainstream online stuff due to the MP215 upgrade!! Any thoughts that could help me out? Cheers bud 👍
had mine just over a month and loving every minute of it. st2 same colour as yours also with mp215 kit. considering going stage 2 but I think I might wait a bit
Just signed the contract to get this car last night, can't wait to come back from my holiday to pick it up and drive, such an absolute beast of a car you can get
Good review had mine now a year and only 6500miles on the clock but loved every mile. Bridgestones are £120 from Ford excluding fitting well were at my local ford when I asked, wanted £65 to fit!! ended up using black circles which was £95 as I needed 1 tyre where as cheapest at the time was an F1 autocentre that wanted £85. The bounce when driving I totally agree, never annoying as I bought the car for fun not comfort but when a passenger is bouncing about it do have to apologise for it.
I will try that thanks and keep on making your videos can not wait to see your RS focus I was looking at the fiesta ST200 that looks nice that will be my next car
Good review video, you only know what you have when you drive it for a while. I totally agree with the seat angel in my focus st. im glad too heat that's it not just me who has problem. I also have problem with the seat pushing into the back of my leg when I use the clutch. I used safety pens to pull the leading edge of the seat down to try and keep it out of the way. your lucky yall only get the two door. in the states its only the four door. thanks
nice review. I'm into my 4th month of ownership and I have the same gripes, but I consider them minor. one thing you didn't mention however, and perhaps this isn't the case with the 2 door UK version.... In mine I can't get a full view behind me from the windshield mounted rearview.
Hi just got my self a fiesta ST and I love it I have bin watching all your videos mega just got to ask you Gary when I got my ST ford told me to keep away from supermarket petrol they said it was no good for that car wot do you think
Great review, nice to hear real person feedback rather than a motor journo. Looking at getting this or the Focus ST, swaying to get the Fiesta with the Mountune upgrades. Looks like you've got some fun roads to drive on too!
+Garyjames1701 I think so, I'm in Essex right now and there are some good roads around here, but soon moving to Edinburgh, will have some truly epic driving up there and I need a car to enjoy it. Just out of interest, when you're doing motorway driving at say 70mph, what sort of mpg are you getting?
+Garyjames1701 thanks! I certainly plan to. When are you expecting to get delivery of your RS? Only 2 weeks and I can go back to enjoying driving again!
great review mate agree with everything you said there great cars I came from an e46 m3 and own a gsxr but the st still puts a smile on my face especially managing to drive past so many petrol stations without having to fill up for once! I'm just about to trade mine in for a new blue one with mountune kit. I was wondering what difference the mountune boost pipe made especially to sound and which pipe is it exactly?
I've been waiting for 4 months (production delayed in Mexico). I hope the wait won’t be in vane and that I’ll be as satisfied as you. Mountune doesn’t offer the 2016 kit yet. Cheers! Great review.
ive got a white 15 plate st3 with the mp215 upgrade and had a molten orange one when they came out in march 2013(13 palte) in st2 form as was top of the range then.dunno why but my new one that ive had just under a year now is way louder and meatier pull away.deff way faster over the standard st once you hit 3rd gear and well worth the upgrade.wouldnt want a standard one now after the upgrade.ive noticed a few improvements since my first one and they needed it.the body kit was shoddy on the early ones, notably the trim under the rear bumper now has a screw holding it as my other one cmae away badly but its still not perfect in places as its actually mainly held on with double sided tape in places but overall a great car.good review too mate
Great review and thanks for posting. Random question, but does it use a lot of oil? I know some of the mini Cooper S and VW TSI engines use a fair bit (1 litre per 1000 miles) is it the same with this? Thanks
+festaboy21 Got the car now and absolutely loving it. I just have another question. During the whole course of you owning your ST have you replaced your stock rear motor mount? Thanks
I replaced mine. It's well worth upgrading because engine roll can be pretty bad under acceleration and that also effects gear changes. For some reason Ford used the same mount as on the standard 1.6 :/ If you fit the quickshifter mod as well the gear changes become amazing :)
I had an ST3 for a year and it was a mixed bag for me. Great fun to drive, didn't drink fuel too much (I got 44mpg on a 350 mile trip of mostly motorway speeds) and it was well specced. The heated seats in particular were a godsend. Build quality was shocking though. Flimsy door cards and trim and so many rattles, they did my head in. The stereo was also crap. Anything heavy or with bass just made the trim rattle even more, so turning up the music to drown out the rattles wasn't really an option. I should know better, I've had enough Fords now to realise they don't screw them together well. If they could, they'd be fantastic. Dealers are useless at identifying problems and are quick to give you patter about the parts being recycled being the reason for the rattles. Bullshit. Overall then, a bittersweet experience for me. I've had to change to something more sensible for work now and am not missing the ST as much as I thought I would.
+Fred Foot I agree about the build quality, it's the only thing that lets it down for me. I was lucky to find a decent dealer who fixed some rattles and a creaking sound which turned out to be the gear linkage. The thing is this car design is over 7 years old now so hopefully with the next Fiesta they will improve the build quality a lot.
It's frustrating when you read reviews of the Fiesta - ST or otherwise - and it's getting 4 or 5 stars, with no mention of the crap build quality. Maybe I was unlucky, but you'd think that these test cars which are passed around the magazines for them to review would have the same sorts of issues.
+Fred Foot I think that's because the cars that are reviewed will be almost brand new with few miles on them, and I remember mine didn't start to develop any rattles until I'd had it for at least a couple of weeks.
I'm a Honda man at heart but have been thinking about a car me and my other half could share that ticks all boxes (she needs to be happy driving it, has all mod cons like heated seats, cruise and nav for long journeys, but can also be taken on track for me) - we were looking at an Abarth 595 but the spec on the Fiesta is so much better! And of course it's all much cheaper to run than the Civic Type-R (not the brand new one) - so my question is, did you test drive any other hatched before settling on the Fiesta?
+PDMedia I tested everything I could in the states. Which meant lots of small, fun cars were not available. But I did the Abarth, BRZ, WRX, GTI, etc. It was the best combination of a workable, functioning car and absolute fun, without being horribly overpriced.
Hey man, I've got a Fiesta ST3 as a company car. I recommend you take it to ford they are so helpful!! I had faulty wheel valves and vibrating mirrors, they fixed the issues. I've had it for a year now I completely agree with you on the Ride I do 25k miles per year and you really notice the bumps. Do you ever put the premium fuel in yours?
Thanks for the review. I picked up a 2015 ST2 a couple of weeks ago with just under 3k on the clock. I want to get the 215 mountune kit fitted next month but just wondering what effect it will have on the mpg? At the mo, I'm getting 38mpg on avg. Cheers
I've had mine re-mapped and upgraded (38 bhp increase) but it wasn't mountune. The performance is brilliant but if you thrash it it drinks fuel like a fish
What about the problem with the keyless go systems on modern cars including fords. I have read and seen videos about this seems they can be stolen in under a minute! they use a laptop and wiring bought from the internet. it would concern me and i would want an extra layer of security its crazy that cars worth so much money can be stolen so easily
great video, exactly what i was looking for..im thinkin of gettin a 2014 fiesta st with 16000 km on the clock and i was wondering if these cars give any known mechanical problems or any other problems but according to u , u had no problems at all (only those rattling noises i guess?). can u fix those rattling noises easily? do u know if i should be careful about any mechanical faults when looking for a second hand ST?
The Recaro seats look like they would put your knees much higher than your hips, not the most ideal position. Does it feel unnatural in the Recaros....uncomfortable? I'm in the market for a used fiST and there are far more cars for sale without the Recaro seats, are they something you would pass on or recommend?
Hey great review, ending up buying an st based on yours and several other reviews :). Just a quick question, I bought mine with the mountune upgrade already done on the car, but how do I find out which upgrade the car has? No noticeable difference physically accept from the mountune badge on the boot?
Ah ok! I'll look tomorrow and see if it's there! No the dealer didn't even mention that it had the mountune upgrade (I only noticed when I saw the car in person, but I didn't mention it just in case they put the price up haha) I haven't got my new vehicle documents from dvla yet as I only got the car last Wednesday, but nothing in the service portfolio or my order forms says anything about it!
I had a quick 5 min look for the Mountune airbox today but couldn't see it, maybe I'm blind as i don't exactly know what I'm looking for haha. Well I guess I didn't buy the car for the Mountune upgrade so doesn't really concern me if the car has actually been upgraded or not (but would seem odd if it wasn't legitimate, considering the car is only 6 months old with 1,500 miles on the clock) I guess it'll remain a mystery!!
I have a Peugeot 2008 diesel (small crossover) and I had a chance to trade in my Pug for a 2014 Fiesta ST from Germany. Too bad that the Fiesta had a serious crash and that was the only let down...great video and I hope you will enjoy your car!
+Garyjames1701 Yeah, I was quite sad about that. The Fiesta was pearl white, just like my Pug...equipment wise the Pug was in an advantage...but the Fiesta was just spot on with it's performance and handling. Maybe I'll come across to another Fiesta!
There's no doubt that the interior of the latest Fiesta is a country mile better than this model, my wife's 18 plate Vignale (which I've mentioned previously) is much better & the new sunroof just lifts the light in the interior making it much nicer. For my sins I'm driving a 10 plate 1.4 Titanium, my Mondeo went in part exchange for the Vignale but the long drawn out saga of my Focus RS is supposed to be resolved soon & it's being delivered on the 26th of this month, at last. I've stashed 2k for a DSC Controller (on your recommendation) & the rest for an FPM375. Funnily enough tonight I watched a video of failures with the 1.6 Ecoboost before I watched this, apparently there's been issues with the blocks cracking, subsequent coolant loss then overheating & engine seizure.
Nice review buddy. I love mine and am also coming up to 2 years in January with 24k on the clock. Mountune fitted at Ford Fair in August and it feels like a different car now. Anyone thinking about buying one definitely do so you will not regret it. Get yourself some exterior mods done, gloss black plastics are a must.
Very helpful video and It helped me to decide to get a recent model. I am now looking into the Mp215 kit, however I think on my st3 I might need some technical assitance as I am getting 80mpg. Looks like I am not able to use all the power. I look forward to my issues being resolved. I also dont feel the pull like everyone says I should. Ford going to look into it next week.
Hello, I'm sure I will. There is no boost. There was when i was on the test drive. Technician thinks it's not he turbo kicking in. Going to be Re mapped by main dealer later this week which should resolve it also I am going to put super unleaded in it instead of 95.
Thanks. I will do. No warning lights on dashboard. Was running really rough when I first started it yesterday but was ok after it warmed up. It's 2016 model too. Under 10k miles. If it gets worse I'll hand it back in and look at going for a new one.
Hello Gary, hope your enjoying your RS. I did actually look at this and I was tempted but I wanted something smaller. Happy with the Fiesta ST. It's running better after I draining the tank and but shell fuel in, instead of Tesco. Seems my car does not like Tesco fuel at all. Going to look at the mp215 kit later this week. Pleased your Fiesta went to a good home. :)
Hello Gary, I just watched this video again and I remember thanks to your videos in the St this is why I bought one. All my issues are resolved now on my ST. Mp215 and pilot sport rubber, also Mountune cat back exhaust. I trust you are still enjoying the focus. 👍
Car Focused just stumbled across this video again after looking at Mountune reviews! I held back on getting an ST for a while but finally got a 17 plate spirit blue! You get your RS?
Excellent review man! I've been in a new ST for just over a month now and I'm already itching for this mountune upgrade! Are you planning on getting something new when the warranty is up on the Fiesta? I'd be interested to see what you go for, when the finance is up on mine in 3 years I'm struggling to not want to get another one of these, maybe that's just because I'm still in the 'honeymoon period' haha, but seriously, it's way too much fun to drive, and I can imagine when I have the mountune kit fitted I'll struggle to want something else even more!
+festaboy21 that's exactly what I wanted to hear! Haha. I think I'll be heading towards a Focus RS in a couple years too, will subscribe to your channel so I can keep an eye out for some vids of it :P
The build quality is fine in mine, and mine was built in Mexico :p The only rattle I have is something in the center console, but it only happens when the car is really cold like below freezing. After it warms up, or in the spring/summer/fall the rattle isn't there (which made it impossible to get the dealer to diagnose, because they couldn't replicate).
I've been doing some reading, and from what I've found the FiST is more reliably than the focus, and I haven't personally heard anything bad about it. The focus on the other hand I know 2 people who have had to take theirs back for engine work.
I wonder if all the fiestas get that rattle.. True, but a lot of people buy a hot hatch so it does everything including respectable MPG. But if you do a lot of spirited driving then that's not bad. I average about 33mpg in a 2.0l NA 182.
can't decide on a fiesta st or a Peugeot 208 gti Peugeot sport edition to replace my clio 182 cup i like them both alot suppose ill just have to test drive both.
+nigel woods I'm testing an ST this weekend. Personally I stay away from Peugeots, they tend to break! Plus I've worked with Peugeot engineers and for my experience they are so pedantic that they focus on the smallest details and divert away from the real focus of what the car should be about, i.e. cool fast small hatch for driving experience.
I've seen a few owner reviews about issues with reliabilty on the Peugeots i think the ford factors better there also i better drivers car also i might just wait for the st200 and test that one out but thanks for the info.
Hi there i test drove a 2014 st2 after all i know a lot of ppl don't like the interior but i liked it and those recaros are really nice.. these do drive awesome the handling is unreal and thats saying something coming from a 182 cup didn't find the suspension that bad either in fact really comfy compared to my 182 thats got H&R springs my only minor gripe was the acceleration it felt under whelming coming from my 182 i guess I'm not used to the modern hot hatch but my 182 feels a lot more raw to i test drove the new VXR to that felt similar but overall i really liked the ST Decided to hold off a bit longer to test drive a few more but thanks again festaboy.
tbh the car is on top my list but there a couple more i wanna try first also the mountune would be a definite i,ll let you know if i do decide to get the ST after thanks mate.
I have a 2004 Ford ikon with the 1.6 rocam engine and I absolutely love it to death. It drives and performs so well. I always get fantastic service from my Ford dealer. I will buy another Ford no problem at all. I love Ford cars so much. Ford make absolutely fantastic cars. I will always drive a Ford car.
festaboy21 The few things i'm worried about is the build quality on the Ford and the speakers. I don't want to have to go to the chav aisle in Halfords to get new speakers if I feel the stock ones are rubbish. Or god forbid i'd have to wear headphones while driving.
hello, just watched your vid and it was very interesting to see what the fiestas are really like from an owner. at the moment I drive a focus st mk2 that's had a few upgrades but I don't know whether to change to a fiesta st, can any one help? would I be regretting it? changing from a 260bhp 2.5l 5cylinder toy to a 4 cylinder 1.6 :|
+festaboy21 hey bud thanks for the reply (sorry ive taken a while) . that's really surprised me whet you've said. I think in the near future I will have to test drive one. they do look really nice I have to admit! there also coming down in price as well which is kinda good. thanks for your honesty and your videos are very good.just watched the rs one...god it sounds nice but to expensive :( Cheers
Loved my ST had it from brand new (2013), unfortunately they are extremely easy to steal and have a blind spot on the alarm which allows thieves to access the OBD port and start the car without: a). Setting off the alarm b). Needing the keys Ford of course advises no one of this, advising of it is as good as admitting it's a fault. So yeah my advice if you get one make sure the OBD port is secured! Or you'll wake up one morning like me and the car will be gone.
Garyjames1701 Yeah it's ridiculous mate. Even if they were careless and set off the alarm, the factory alarms don't disable the OBD port so the thieves can disable it in a matter of seconds and still drive it off. Hoping at least some people find the info useful, if I had known I could have done something to prevent it!
Hi gary my ST2 is the same colour as yours after 12 months old from new I am finding a lot of scratches wot is the best thing to use and try to get rid of them
Yeah, would cost me around 400 a month to run an ST since it will be on finance, well some of it, might just get a 1L Zetec S Ecoboost.. it would be my second ever car, currently only drive a 1.4 Clio :)
+XCI Are you aware of the 1Litre 140BHP ecoboost engine? That would be one step down from the ST but should be great fun and more economical. I have the 125 BHP ecoboost and apart from the rather high gearing in 1st and 2nd gear, the performance is amazing. I would love to see a side by side 0-60 thrash between an ST and the highest power 1 Litre just for comparison.
goodchappy I am yes, that's the Black/Red edition right? those seem to be around the price of an ST though and that's why I haven't looked into them too much.
Yes black/Red edition. I haven't looked into the prices but it would seem odd if they are around the same price as the ST if the only advantage is better fuel economy and slightly less performance.
Im 17 and im getting my mums ford fiesta 2005 for myself (no one else will drive it once i own it) I want to make it a bit louder, sportier etc and probs change the colour----Help what would you recommend, thanks
roguetrooper1000 I picked up my Molten Orange last Saturday with the MP215 kit and my missus is talking about the MR230 kit! Maybe try a new woman haha
Ben Browning ...i have done a 215 pack not moutune got all second hand stuff was cheaper ..so i got a st200 airbox(same as mountune but plastic) k+n.mountune airbox to turbo pipe and graham goode racing map had it rolling roaded 219bhp ....whats involved with a 230 to 240 upgrade
roguetrooper1000 I need to get mine dyno'd as I have the MP215 kit, Mountune induction hose and Mountune cat back. Should be making 215-220bhp. Might just get the Mountune intercooler then stick it on a rolling road, should make a solid 220bhp.
I've got a 64 plate ST2 with the MT215 upgrade, its
just pulls hard in every gear, only car I've had that I look forward to driving every time.
50 pences
McDonalds fries
501 light bulbs
Fags
1 pound coins
SORT IT OUT FORD
other than that, I've owned this car for two years now and its amazing.
I'm just waiting for them to come down under £11,000, good sir.
do you have the recaros ?
People saying the ride in the fiesta st is harsh have never driven a civic type r. Compared to fn2 the fiesta st feels much smoother over speed bumps and on the roads.
I don’t think the st2 comes with satnav as standard it’s an optional extra where as the st3 models all have satnav. I just sold my fn2 for a fiesta st2 and it doesn’t have satnav
I've owned my 2015 Fiesta St for a year now. Thank you for doing this review, been looking for a long term review of this car.
Finally I've put an order for ST2. Got to say your videos did help just a little bit to reinforce my decision. Looking forward to RS videos.
I wish we could get the 3-door in the US.
Great vid and overview bud!! Went for a spin in one today...15 plate with 12k miles and MP215 Upgrade....fastest thing i've ever driven and i've had some quick cars!! Was grinning like a cheshire cat and i'm 44 😃
You were right....bought it straight away ! Can't wait ❤👍
+Garyjames1701 Found the ride a tad firm for a mile or so...and thought no way i aint having it....but it won me over very quickly! Mind you my current car...a 65 plate Auris Hybrid being a comfy ride didnt help....and no im not some eco head...i'm a car builder at Toyota 😃
The little ST made me laugh so much 😂😂
Have you any good recommendations for insurance? Just realised can't go through the mainstream online stuff due to the MP215 upgrade!! Any thoughts that could help me out? Cheers bud 👍
+Garyjames1701 Thanks Gary....will check them out 👍👍
Just bought one in the same "Spirit Blue" colour! I'm picking it up on Friday and I'm definitely going to put an MP215 kit on!
How has your experience with the car been?
loved every minute of my 215
had mine just over a month and loving every minute of it. st2 same colour as yours also with mp215 kit. considering going stage 2 but I think I might wait a bit
Just signed the contract to get this car last night, can't wait to come back from my holiday to pick it up and drive, such an absolute beast of a car you can get
10:56 "it's like a little terrorist"
:D
If you haven't already done so, visit fiestastforum.com
not the most pc thing I've ever said - brilliant
Did you have that head problems or catching on fire issue these early models were renowned for
I had no problems at all. It was brilliant.
Thumbs up simply for that lovely deep exhaust note. Fantastic
thanks garyjames and keep doing what ur doing, good stuff. test driving a focus st 15 plate on Saturday.
Really enjoyable watch.
good review mate, just ordered my 2016 ST3 molten orange! Can't wait!
Are you happy you bought it? Do you still have it?
Bought mine second hand usdm model, hope the MP215 kit makes it a beast.
Picking my 15 plate ST-3 up tomorrow, so excited!
nice upgrade from my first car being a regular mk6 fiesta
Hope to pick mine up this week/early next
Ford is just sorting a few chips out of the door.
I just picked up a 2015 FiST about a month ago ... the honeymoon is no where in sight of being over!
I am hoping to jump up to the RS Focus in 2019.
Hi just got my self a fiesta ST and I love it I have bin watching all your videos mega just got to ask you Gary when I got my ST ford told me to keep away from supermarket petrol they said it was no good for that car wot do you think
Nice video mate.
Great video Gary, thanks for the insight.
+Garyjames1701 That's pretty impressive. That almost seals the deal. Going for a test tomorrow! Thanks!
Finally pressed order, picking up my ST-3 on the 5th! So excited!
Thanks
Great review. Picking one of these up in 2016 and would be adding the MP215 kit hopefully shortly after :)
For some reason Ford used the same mount as on the standard 1.6 :/
If you fit the quickshifter mod as well the gear changes become amazing :)
+BlatentlyFakeName I will change mine after the warrenty expires.
+Steve John (ImACookie) you can get mountune quickshifter and engine mount bracket. Doesnt effect the warrenty
+Fred Foot its a nice car but its still a ford after all you get what you pay for i guess
Fred Foot What did you change to?
Sounds sweet. Good job my friend
+festaboy21 nice one, cheers
good review thinking about buying one nice to hear costs are reasonable - thanks
Ford needs to step their interior game up like for real. What's with the tiny screen they got? Why not a touch screen entertainment system?
Garyjames1701 Ah ok will do thanks!
Well I have a test drive booked for Friday. Looks like I'll be buying one then? 😃
+Garyjames1701 thanks. Congrats on getting a Focus RS! You got it yet? What colour did you order? That blue is so nice!
Car Focused just stumbled across this video again after looking at Mountune reviews! I held back on getting an ST for a while but finally got a 17 plate spirit blue! You get your RS?
Good review. Picking mine up next week, how much does the MP215 Cost? Thanks
+festaboy21 thanks a lot dude. Appreciate it
Excellent review man!
You can even go with tires that are both stickier and last longer.
nice review, the only thing that concerns me a little is the rattling would you say the build quality isn't very good mate?
Garyjames1701 picked my ST up last Friday, very impressed..your reviews helped me make my mind up on this car.
many thanks
The build quality is fine in mine, and mine was built in Mexico :p
The only rattle I have is something in the center console, but it only happens when the car is really cold like below freezing. After it warms up, or in the spring/summer/fall the rattle isn't there (which made it impossible to get the dealer to diagnose, because they couldn't replicate).
I hate it how Ford won't give the U.S two door Focus and Fiestas.....
I still have trouble pulling the trigger on a FiST because I heard reliability is an issue or else I would buy it.
I've been doing some reading, and from what I've found the FiST is more reliably than the focus, and I haven't personally heard anything bad about it. The focus on the other hand I know 2 people who have had to take theirs back for engine work.
Corey K Thats good to hear.
Hi gary wot do you thing of the Monturne 215 bhp on every day driving is it worth the money I had a price of ford and around £800 pound
hi gary you said to use shell v power in my ST do you get better mpg out of it and better performance when you use that
Hi gary wot do you use to polish your leather seats in your ST
People have been cramming trim was crap to reduce rattles for years; toothpicks, paper, plastic utensils. Give that a go.
A good vid, awesome car. Poor MPG considering its supposed to do 47mpg! Also not good to have rattles on a 2 year old car is it?
I wonder if all the fiestas get that rattle..
True, but a lot of people buy a hot hatch so it does everything including respectable MPG. But if you do a lot of spirited driving then that's not bad. I average about 33mpg in a 2.0l NA 182.
goes down to about 28 if I do more spirited driving though, so a smaller forced induction engine is better!
can't decide on a fiesta st or a Peugeot 208 gti Peugeot sport edition to replace my clio 182 cup i like them both alot suppose ill just have to test drive both.
I've seen a few owner reviews about issues with reliabilty on the Peugeots i think the ford factors better there also i better drivers car also i might just wait for the st200 and test that one out but thanks for the info.
hi again gary did you go for the new focus RS after mate.
Awesome stuff looks a really nice bit of kit especally for the money.
Just got one its fuckin awesome wow enjoy driving it everytime 👍👍
at the beginning, why do you drive as if your on your test?
Bit of strange question but what tyre pressures everyone using in Psi
hi garry.. how many miles do you get on a full tank out of these just everyday driving mixture of work and fun ?
No problem thats great thanks
Getting mine Sunday! 29th Jan hype!
do you have to get ford to do it because of your warranty you have with the car
going to test a fiesta st3 in white tomorrow if all go"s well i'll be sad to see my clio 182 go
Hi there i test drove a 2014 st2 after all i know a lot of ppl don't like the interior but i liked it and those recaros are really nice.. these do drive awesome the handling is unreal and thats saying something coming from a 182 cup didn't find the suspension that bad either in fact really comfy compared to my 182 thats got H&R springs my only minor gripe was the acceleration it felt under whelming coming from my 182 i guess I'm not used to the modern hot hatch but my 182 feels a lot more raw to i test drove the new VXR to that felt similar but overall i really liked the ST Decided to hold off a bit longer to test drive a few more but thanks again festaboy.
tbh the car is on top my list but there a couple more i wanna try first also the mountune would be a definite i,ll let you know if i do decide to get the ST after thanks mate.
We know it's you, Ford.
fix or repair daily
found on road dead
theres your beloved ford you jew
I got a edition 30 golf gti ,not sure to trade in for a fiesta st or a focus st
Paul Harrison Focus definitely
What would you pick if you had the option? A used 2010 Mini Cooper S JCW or a Used 2013 Fiesta ST? Both roughly the same mileage and price.
festaboy21 The few things i'm worried about is the build quality on the Ford and the speakers. I don't want to have to go to the chav aisle in Halfords to get new speakers if I feel the stock ones are rubbish. Or god forbid i'd have to wear headphones while driving.
festaboy21 Yeah will test drive whenever possible. Anyway cheers for the info.
Fuck this car looks so good in a three door. Damn you America.
would prefer it as a 5-door personally, damn you america!
hello, just watched your vid and it was very interesting to see what the fiestas are really like from an owner. at the moment I drive a focus st mk2 that's had a few upgrades but I don't know whether to change to a fiesta st, can any one help? would I be regretting it? changing from a 260bhp 2.5l 5cylinder toy to a 4 cylinder 1.6 :|
+festaboy21 hey bud thanks for the reply (sorry ive taken a while) . that's really surprised me whet you've said. I think in the near future I will have to test drive one. they do look really nice I have to admit! there also coming down in price as well which is kinda good. thanks for your honesty and your videos are very good.just watched the rs one...god it sounds nice but to expensive :(
Cheers
how much is the mounting upgrade
can I fit my mountain bike in the back with rear seats down. if so I'm off to the dealer!
Quick question! How does the mt 215 upgrade affect the overboost ? Is it 215 Bhp + overboost or 215 bhp including overboost
Garyjames1701 thanks for the reply 👍 got an email from mountune today confirming 215 with overboost....have fun with your new focus rs mate
i know this video is old, but how is fuel economy on this car
Loved my ST had it from brand new (2013), unfortunately they are extremely easy to steal and have a blind spot on the alarm which allows thieves to access the OBD port and start the car without:
a). Setting off the alarm
b). Needing the keys
Ford of course advises no one of this, advising of it is as good as admitting it's a fault.
Hi gary my ST2 is the same colour as yours after 12 months old from new I am finding a lot of scratches wot is the best thing to use and try to get rid of them
a baseball bat to hit the cunts who are scratching your car 😂
Anthony Minshall a lot of this going around. People say it's the quality of the paint job from ford.
Thinking of buying one of these, second hand with 30k miles, should I buy a warranty and pay monthly? also seen some for around 10k private sales.
I haven't looked into the prices but it would seem odd if they are around the same price as the ST if the only advantage is better fuel economy and slightly less performance.
goodchappy They are 10k+ and I could get a ST-2 for that or slightly more.
Im 17 and im getting my mums ford fiesta 2005 for myself (no one else will drive it once i own it) I want to make it a bit louder, sportier etc and probs change the colour----Help what would you recommend, thanks
Thanks for the reply, where would i go for that in the uk
Is it worth the money getting the st3 over the st2
just bought 1 in red ..pickup Tuesday ..not sure the misses will let me mod to 215bhp
roguetrooper1000 I picked up my Molten Orange last Saturday with the MP215 kit and my missus is talking about the MR230 kit!
