    I just completed mines today and your video made it super easy. I did put two side tape on the bottom and top to help keep it in place and I invested in a 5.00 rivet gun from Harbor Freight.

    I called our local Ford dealer and the trim strips are $70 a piece, I removed the rivet, added Flex-Seal silicone underneath the trim and replaced the rivet. so far, so good. No leaks!

    I replaced my back window the was leaking for the sliding rear window and it was still leaking with new window and seal what I found about was those rubber trims was dry rotted so the water would go straight to the inside and not run it off like it was supposed to

    Great job with the work and the video.! Have you experienced issues with rain leaking since redoing your roof trim? I'm thinking of doing mine (2013 F-150 SuperCab) using your process.

    • @neverneatgarage

      The trim is cosmetic to hide the welds. So no issue with leaking.

    Do you think you can use some kind of silicone sealant instead of using the tape to hold it in better?

    • @neverneatgarage
      @neverneatgarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can use silicone but I’ve used 3M double sided tape to install low profile rear spoilers on the trunks of many of my cars and years later the 3M still holds strong. Also since you are wedging the trim behind the window stripping it will stay in place just fine. What is really holding the trim is the rivet at the top, the tape is there just to reduce any chance of rattling so silicone would be fine but messy. How did you install the new rivets?

    • @williamvargas9721
      @williamvargas9721 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Used a standard rivet gun. I first carefully drilled out the old rivets, put the new trim in place, then place rivet in gun then in the whole ensuring the trim is between the rivet and the metal/whole. Keeping pressure on the rivet start squeezing the rivet gun handle a few times until you hear the pop of the rivet. Note it’s important you use the factory rivet since it has plastic in the rivet hole to prevent water getting in. If you used a standard rivet you then need to make sure you get the right size rivet and need to cover the rivet hole with silicone or something to prevent water getting in.

    Did you replace these because of a leak? My truck is leaking in this area and I am wondering if this is where the water is coming from. My seals are also loose on one side where the leaking is.

    I recently noticed the passenger side trim on my 2004 F-150 pulls right off, but it's secure enough that it won't go anywhere. Mine isn't riveted, one end slides into the long roof trim and the other end slides into the window like yours. They're $15-20 apiece and not important enough for me to replace at this time.
