They're comfortable, because this is just the tip of 2025, & they are cookin for 2026 / 2027 as well. I thought it was kinda cool I have 7 PS5 Pro Enhanced games, 8 if you count Ratchet but that's my daughters game now. The disappointment was there are only 3 or 4 pro enhanced games I would consider buying.

Same. The one I bought in 2003 with my first ever paycheck while working at Pizza Hut. Still runs like a charm. Side note..I was supposed to use that paycheck money to buy groceries for Mom and the fiance but..I bit my lip and just got the PS2 I wanted so badly, and took the heat head on afterwards. I hate when they remaster a game like Horizon Zero Dawn and update it from PS4 to PS5 graphics, but a game like Legacy of Kain Remastered they improved the graphics from PS1 graphics to PS2 graphics for the PS5 😂
These are not remakes they are remasters. Horizon was released on the PS4 Pro. It was already close to PS5 quality. Legacy of Kain looks amazing compared to its original versions. Find a CRT and hook up a PS1 then you will see the difference.

We learned this lesson with Mortal Kombat X. Bought the ultimate edition at release only for them to release more and more DLC. Then wrap them all up a year or so later in a complete edition that was the same price as the original.

I realized as a 36 year old a few years ago we just aren’t the target audience anymore. There’s an entire generation or two of kids that know nothing about classic gaming and know only live service, call of duty, Fortnite, Minecraft, dlc, micro transactions and day 1 content. We are the dinosaurs. They don’t care about us. We grew up,in the golden age of gaming. It was magical. I feel bad for the kids coming up today.
Same for nintendo, the nintendo directs have all been trash, their last ones have been their worst in the switches lifespan and the recent one was just indies which are all multiplatforms so it was a useless direct/partnered showcase that any console could have shown off. But this channel is a nintendo channel so expecting him to enjoy anything other than nintendo titles you clicked on the wrong video. I still don't know why he covers xbox or playstation when he clearly doesn't like anything but nintendo games like zelda and so on. Its like asking an FPS player to give their take on MOBA's or roleplaying games, of course trailers like those won't get them excited, they want COD, Battlefield and other shooter trailers to excite them. You go to an xbox content channel of course they are going to bash nintendo and sony as meh or trash presentations. This channel needs to just stick to nintendo content like he always has. I mean his subscribers are also gonna be nintendo fans too who will just bash on anything not nintendo like always. I play on PC mostly but I have a switch and playstation but even I can see how stupidly bias he is when he obviously prefers one console and just does "reviews" like this just to bash on another to justify his nintendo shilling. But hey this is how youtubers make their content. They watch and review what they know they don't like for views and ego inflation of their preferred system of choice. And people say us PC players are toxic... As for sony in this showcase I freaking loved it. So many good games I added to my list even the DLC's like for stella blade. He even said he planned to buy one of the games from this showcase but on switch since its multiplatform. Others he said he's never played or knows nothing about it or cares, and so on. I'm telling you these just aren't his thing but its considered "bad" because they aren't his thing or yours even. Imagine the looks I get when I tell people I don't like or want to play Fortnite.

I have owned every Sony system ever including the portables and started with the PlayStation 1. However, the PlayStation 4 was the last system I owned, once they closed down Japan Studios and moved their headquarters to California I pretty much left for good.
@@Throbingkcoc I'm not so much worried about digital games I have on my Series X, they're probably always going to be available to redownload at least in my lifetime. Even after it's been delisted I can still insert a disc and it downloads the game from the server. What I don't like though is how they can just simply update a game whenever they want even after its released and impose some form of censorship by editing the original product, at least with a disk you can bypass this and just not update it. I buy physical for my Switch though.
@@ShiftNova Exactly. I think this is the best time to be a gamer but only if you play older games and are into remakes and remasters. This is why I went with the Series X over the PS5, backwards compatible games that are enhanced. Games like Dragon Age Origins, Oblivion, New Vegas, the list goes on. They have added new classics that you once needed a PC for, Quake remaster, Ages of Empire, Stalker trilogy, System Shock remake, the Baldur's Gate collection and more. Then you have older Tales games getting a remaster, classic Resident Evil remakes, Metal Gear remakes, Nintendo pushing out classic remakes and the list goes on. However, you need to be the kind of person that plays a wide selection of games and enjoys older classics. If your only waiting for the next big thing and mostly playing newer AAA westernized woke slop, then it's by far the worse time to be a gamer and it won't get any better.
There is a VERY real and concerning trend occuring in video games. Costs and time investments are going up, but number of products is nose diving..... And there are just so few new good games. So many remasters and sequels. We saw it destroy hollywood, and those same mistakes are following to gaming. Sony used to be cooking up multiple successful games a year that you wanted to know about, this state of play just felt like a "o hey yeah, we're doin stuff.... Come back later"

EXACTLY the same I've been saying who cares about this franchise noone does. I played the first game liked the concept but forgot the story and characters, tried playing the second game couldnt get passed the second chapter cuz I was feeling overwhelmed by its insanely bloated map inspired by ubisoft's generic open world games, I quit and never looked back again and I felt relieved. Seriously this franchise sucks!!!

Not gonna lie I am starting to regret my PS5 purchase at launch. This generation has been lackluster to say the least. Essentially I paid $500 for a cross generation console. Here it is almost 4 years into this consoles life cycle and we are still seeing cross generation PS4/PS5 games and remakes/remasters. We are seeing remasters of games that are barely 5 years old! Why?? My console has literally sat in my cabinet collecting dust for a good while now. The last game I bought and enjoyed was Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and before that it was Spider-Man 2. And they expect people to be excited about a $700 PS5 Pro with no games LOL?!?!? Pretty bad when I am getting more use out of my 8 year old Switch than I have with my PS5. Definitely learned my lesson this generation, when the PS6 rolls around I will not be picking it up at launch. And depending on the price I may not pick it up at all. If that console is $800/$900 I will be making the jump over to PC. The whole point of these consoles is to enjoy gaming at a affordable price. These consoles are starting to get into the PC pricing range which completely defeats the purpose of owning a console. Not only that we are paying $70 for unfinished broken games, no thank you. If games are taking longer to develop then these console life cycles needs to be expanded. I feel we barely got any Sony 1st party exclusive games this generation and we are already half way through this generation. Sorry for the long rant but as a long time Playstation fan this is starting to get a bit ridiculous. The audacity and greed of this company is mind blowing!
You can bet a big part of the show was dedicated to Concord. They thought it would sell gangbusters. They had to fill space with junk like controllers.
Due to Sony Interactive entertainment moved to California, this isn't the Playstation we grew up with. I guess we owe PS3 an apology it was rocky from start and later got better.
We really live in a weird environment where, on the PS5 vs. XBOX "console war", people attack playstation and praise xbox but by the end of the year we will have: - Seen Playstation get more 1st and 3rd party timed or full exclusives than Xbox; - Seen far more playstation timed or full exclusives become game of the year contendors than xbox; - Seen Playstation being criticised for the "lack of exclusives titles on their state of play" and focus on "remasters/remakes"....and xbox praised by their showcase, when they have shown us a total of 40 "games" (some DLCs included as games in my math), where about 20/25% are remastered games, roughly 75% of games shown are third party (it would've been much higher if they had not buy Activision and Bethesda), and somewhere around 85% of the games shown will also be available from day 1 on PS5 (with most of the reminder 15% eventually being released for playstation)...

I don't get this logic. It is the best time for gaming. There are more games than ever before, stop focusing on the few negatives over the quality that is out.

It was a pretty mid presentation. Ghost of Yotei is the only takeaway for me. Mh release date is nice but we’ve already seen so much mh wilds at this point, just ready for release.
The only thing that really got my attention was the Ghost of Tsushima sequel and if lunar does go on switch I'm definitely getting a physical copy I like the first one but I never got the chance to play the second one and that game is hella expensive now
The way Sony has been moving these past few years has CONVINCED me I no longer need to buy their consoles as it’s pointless. And every “playstation exclusive 🤪” has eventually been ported to PC. I will not be owning a PS6 whenever that comes out.
The 2 new characters in TMNT dlc are Mondo Gecko he's in the Turtles in almost every iteration and Mona Lisa is from the original cartoon she was Raphs love interest

This is why I bought all three this generation. I wanted to have options especially considering how long it takes these developers to make games. I honestly play my Switch more then both the X and PS5. A lot more game variety.
I am of a similar mindset. The PS5 is starting to remind me of my Xbox One X. Since MS was putting their games on PC, it became my glorified 4K Blu-Ray player. There were no exclusive games. I could get everything on PC.
I am so stoked for the Lunar Remaster. Lunar 1 has been remade a few times including on iOS but this is the first time Lunar 2 is being remade since the pSX and Saturn versions.
Sounds like I'll be enjoying my used, excellent condition PS4 Pro for quite more some time. I don't even need to mod it because the games are so affordable. The only reason to mod, hopefully at some point, would be so I can play MY isos without discs. Just picked up a new Spider-Man complete for $31, and a new Horizon Til Dawn complete for $26. GoW was only $20. It's great. I may even make it a legit PS4 so I can get that upcoming Doom compilation collection with the BFG statue.

That was a flop for newer games. *BUT YES to Lunar Remastered Collection & Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Collection, and Fantasian.* I'd rather have remasters of older Saturn/PS1/PS2 games anyhow, rather than these take-8-years to develop AAAA millions-of-dollar projects that kill studios if they don't sell a ka-jillion copies. Give me some HD preservation. The newer PS4 remasters, however -- pointless, if you ask me.
Was wary about Lunar but it's by the people who made the Grandia HD Collection and that was pretty good so my hopes for an decently translated and uncensored Lunar Collection are somewhat existent. I was mostly happy with Aspyr's Tomb Raider remaster and have to give credit that they brought back the removed pin up pictures, so I'm cautiously looking forward to Soul Reaver Remaster, still gonna get the Legacy of Kain Collection for Evercade though. I would have prefered Tomb Raider 4&5, maybe 6 remastered but I'm sure it will come eventually, now it's just a question who will bring TR4&5 1st, Aspyr or Evercade?

It really says a lot about the "state of play" when the only "PlayStation" game I'm looking forward to is a remastered set of old games that came out over 25 years ago, and I'll be playing them on my Steam Deck instead of my PS5.
It's crazy that Alan Wake II was nominated for GOTY and has only sold 1.3m copies to date. And still hasn't turned a profit and it's multiplat. Beautiful game and very good but it's just wild almost year later i thought it did very well, especially since it was nominated for GOTY last year.
This is the law of diminishing returns. Every leap forward is smaller than the one before. I remember when the PS1 came out what an amazing advance it was over the SNES. I can barely tell the difference between the graphics on a PS4 and a PS5.
Honestly gamers have gotten beyond depressing to even engage with. Not every game is going to be a 10/10 AAA experience. We need to expand our tastes beyond just that.
I pretty much watched the standalone stream without any influence or input from a content creator and I thought 100% of it was good. I can't even hate the Horizon Zero Dawn remake basically being a $10 upgrade.
The whole story in Astro Bot is to save the PS5, and in real life thats exactly what its doing because its the only thing worthwhile on playstation right now 😬

To give Sony a Ton of credit, it took until their fifth console to produce an actual flop (Nintendo was also five). The PS Vita was a flop as well, but that was a handheld that was more murdered than failed. The PS5 has failed. Accept it.

I enjoyed it overall and thought the pacing was good. I'm glad they kept showing off games instead of constantly talking without gameplay for half the show. There were a few games that the presentation got me interested in as well. But the biggest issue I had is the constant "Available on PS4 and PS5" text after most games. We are 4 years into the PS5's life... Sony needs to commit already.

The ps4 had a good hype but nowhere near it's previous gen consoles. We the community got used to this top tier ground breaking stuff. Sony has fallen hard, it's embarrassing.

I still don't know why he covers xbox or playstation when he clearly doesn't like anything but nintendo games like zelda and so on. Its like asking an FPS player to give their take on MOBA's or roleplaying games, of course trailers like those won't get them excited, they want COD, Battlefield and other shooter trailers to excite them. As for sony in this showcase I freaking loved it. So many good games I added to my list even the DLC's like for stella blade. He even said he planned to buy one of the games from this showcase but on switch since its multiplatform. Others he said he's never played or knows nothing about it or cares, and so on. I'm telling you these just aren't his thing but its considered "bad" because they aren't his thing or yours even. Imagine the looks I get when I tell people I don't like or want to play Fortnite.

I have owned every Sony system ever including the portables and started with the PlayStation 1. However, the PlayStation 4 was the last system I owned, once they closed down Japan Studios and moved their headquarters to California I pretty much left for good.

@@Throbingkcoc I'm not so much worried about digital games I have on my Series X, they're probably always going to be available to redownload at least in my lifetime. Even after it's been delisted I can still insert a disc and it downloads the game from the server. What I don't like though is how they can just simply update a game whenever they want even after its released and impose some form of censorship by editing the original product, at least with a disk you can bypass this and just not update it. I buy physical for my Switch though.
The PS5 will more than likely be my last console I will ever buy from Sony. This generation of consoles has been nothing special.
@@ShiftNova Exactly. I think this is the best time to be a gamer but only if you play older games and are into remakes and remasters. This is why I went with the Series X over the PS5, backwards compatible games that are enhanced. Games like Dragon Age Origins, Oblivion, New Vegas, the list goes on.
They have added new classics that you once needed a PC for, Quake remaster, Ages of Empire, Stalker trilogy, System Shock remake, the Baldur's Gate collection and more. Then you have older Tales games getting a remaster, classic Resident Evil remakes, Metal Gear remakes, Nintendo pushing out classic remakes and the list goes on.
However, you need to be the kind of person that plays a wide selection of games and enjoys older classics. If your only waiting for the next big thing and mostly playing newer AAA westernized woke slop, then it's by far the worse time to be a gamer and it won't get any better.
There is a VERY real and concerning trend occuring in video games. Costs and time investments are going up, but number of products is nose diving..... And there are just so few new good games. So many remasters and sequels. We saw it destroy hollywood, and those same mistakes are following to gaming.
Sony used to be cooking up multiple successful games a year that you wanted to know about, this state of play just felt like a "o hey yeah, we're doin stuff.... Come back later"

EXACTLY the same I've been saying who cares about this franchise noone does. I played the first game liked the concept but forgot the story and characters, tried playing the second game couldnt get passed the second chapter cuz I was feeling overwhelmed by its insanely bloated map inspired by ubisoft's generic open world games, I quit and never looked back again and I felt relieved. Seriously this franchise sucks!!!

State of NO Sony games
Not gonna lie I am starting to regret my PS5 purchase at launch. This generation has been lackluster to say the least. Essentially I paid $500 for a cross generation console. Here it is almost 4 years into this consoles life cycle and we are still seeing cross generation PS4/PS5 games and remakes/remasters. We are seeing remasters of games that are barely 5 years old! Why?? My console has literally sat in my cabinet collecting dust for a good while now. The last game I bought and enjoyed was Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and before that it was Spider-Man 2. And they expect people to be excited about a $700 PS5 Pro with no games LOL?!?!? Pretty bad when I am getting more use out of my 8 year old Switch than I have with my PS5. Definitely learned my lesson this generation, when the PS6 rolls around I will not be picking it up at launch. And depending on the price I may not pick it up at all. If that console is $800/$900 I will be making the jump over to PC. The whole point of these consoles is to enjoy gaming at a affordable price. These consoles are starting to get into the PC pricing range which completely defeats the purpose of owning a console. Not only that we are paying $70 for unfinished broken games, no thank you. If games are taking longer to develop then these console life cycles needs to be expanded. I feel we barely got any Sony 1st party exclusive games this generation and we are already half way through this generation. Sorry for the long rant but as a long time Playstation fan this is starting to get a bit ridiculous. The audacity and greed of this company is mind blowing!

We really live in a weird environment where, on the PS5 vs. XBOX "console war", people attack playstation and praise xbox but by the end of the year we will have:
- Seen Playstation get more 1st and 3rd party timed or full exclusives than Xbox;
- Seen far more playstation timed or full exclusives become game of the year contendors than xbox;
- Seen Playstation being criticised for the "lack of exclusives titles on their state of play" and focus on "remasters/remakes"....and xbox praised by their showcase, when they have shown us a total of 40 "games" (some DLCs included as games in my math), where about 20/25% are remastered games, roughly 75% of games shown are third party (it would've been much higher if they had not buy Activision and Bethesda), and somewhere around 85% of the games shown will also be available from day 1 on PS5 (with most of the reminder 15% eventually being released for playstation)...
I think I’ve hit rock bottom with gaming. Nothing grabs me anymore. Time to hang up the controller.

I am of a similar mindset. The PS5 is starting to remind me of my Xbox One X. Since MS was putting their games on PC, it became my glorified 4K Blu-Ray player. There were no exclusive games. I could get everything on PC.

I am so stoked for the Lunar Remaster. Lunar 1 has been remade a few times including on iOS but this is the first time Lunar 2 is being remade since the pSX and Saturn versions.

Sounds like I'll be enjoying my used, excellent condition PS4 Pro for quite more some time. I don't even need to mod it because the games are so affordable. The only reason to mod, hopefully at some point, would be so I can play MY isos without discs. Just picked up a new Spider-Man complete for $31, and a new Horizon Til Dawn complete for $26. GoW was only $20. It's great. I may even make it a legit PS4 so I can get that upcoming Doom compilation collection with the BFG statue.

Was wary about Lunar but it's by the people who made the Grandia HD Collection and that was pretty good so my hopes for an decently translated and uncensored Lunar Collection are somewhat existent.
I was mostly happy with Aspyr's Tomb Raider remaster and have to give credit that they brought back the removed pin up pictures, so I'm cautiously looking forward to Soul Reaver Remaster, still gonna get the Legacy of Kain Collection for Evercade though. I would have prefered Tomb Raider 4&5, maybe 6 remastered but I'm sure it will come eventually, now it's just a question who will bring TR4&5 1st, Aspyr or Evercade?

Worst showcase of all time
It's crazy that Alan Wake II was nominated for GOTY and has only sold 1.3m copies to date. And still hasn't turned a profit and it's multiplat. Beautiful game and very good but it's just wild almost year later i thought it did very well, especially since it was nominated for GOTY last year.
This is the law of diminishing returns. Every leap forward is smaller than the one before. I remember when the PS1 came out what an amazing advance it was over the SNES. I can barely tell the difference between the graphics on a PS4 and a PS5.
Honestly gamers have gotten beyond depressing to even engage with. Not every game is going to be a 10/10 AAA experience. We need to expand our tastes beyond just that.
Some of the best gaming experiences I've ever had were from niche titles like the Ys series. Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana was just flat out _amazing._

I understand general complaints about this generation, even tho the Ps4 hasnt had that many insane games in the beginning too. but you actually cant be mad this year because they literally said what was gonna happen with big games. All of you can be mad and flame them if they wont give us a showcase by the end of the year or somewhere in the beginning of 2025 with big games.
Edit : People always tell me "but Xbox had such a great showcase" --> ye but it literally doesnt matter because basically all of these games come out in 2025 or later and they still only got Hellblade II in a year where Sony said they wont have many big games. This was the year of Xbox to show up and they did in fact not show up again. Like I said If Sony doesnt show up latest somewhere in the beginning of 2025 you can flame them.
The highlight for me was Dino Crisis coming to PS5, definitely excited for that!
Hopefully we’ll get a remake someday.

Sony is even trying to be Nintendo with Astro Bot while talking about the PS5 pro with the hardware you don't need for a game like that. Sony, do you get it? Great games > graphics

when it comes to controllers, I find it hard for Sony to compete against other brands that already have a huge selection at a very low price.
I thought it was fairly decent for the most part. It’s definitely better than the last State of Play to say the least.

I enjoyed it overall and thought the pacing was good. I'm glad they kept showing off games instead of constantly talking without gameplay for half the show. There were a few games that the presentation got me interested in as well.
But the biggest issue I had is the constant "Available on PS4 and PS5" text after most games. We are 4 years into the PS5's life... Sony needs to commit already.
Actually, most were just PS5.

@@MarkYeeDaMajor and I think I know why. See back then, when the PS2 and PS3 dropped the hype was massive. The graphics were something we never seen and the games were top notch. The ps4 had a good hype but nowhere near it's previous gen consoles. We the community got used to this top tier ground breaking stuff. Sony has fallen hard, it's embarrassing.
We're 4 years into this system's life and there's almost nothing to show for it.
PS4 had way more than this at this stage in its life.
Maybe a little but Sony set a high bar and is now falling way under it.
