my mom near had a heart attack after learning i paid $300 for a playstation 2 at launch but that was backwards compatible and i could sell my original ps1 to offset the costs. playstation 2 was revolutionary offering a completely new experience and had so many incredible games unlike modern gaming today along with the new dvd player format to rent movies from blockbuster. spending over $700 for a video game console that's already halfway through its life cycle is outrageous to the point there should be a boycott.
You do understand that the PS2 launched almost 25 years ago? $300 in 2000 is roughly $550 now. I'm not saying $700 isn't a rip off but lets at least compare apples with apples.
I would honestly pay more money for a PS2, then I would for the PS5 pro. That console was a major upgrade from the first one, and had an amazing library of games, that offered massive content for your buck, and didn't suffer from all the woke garbage these modern consoles do today! It all went downhill with the PS3.

Its really simple, not because something has a release date means you have to have it because your life depends on it. People waited years or months anyway so why not wait a few weeks or a months more to get it when its back in stock. The world won't end because you don't have a material object. Discipline yourself and have patience there's other priorities in life. Stop feeding these low-life scalper bums your hard earned dollars.
Performance is only marginally better and no disc drive. Thats why the pro is not selling. Also those youtubers that have taken the pro apart have revealed its the same cpu as the regular sony just over clocked it. And gave it custom firmware to unlock a couple features. The ps5 pro is just a cash grab by sony
Every time a scalper loses money the sun shines a little brighter, the air is a little warmer, flowers smell a little sweeter and the world just becomes a tiny bit better.
Getting consoles when they come out initially is silly anyway. Get it a half year later, and it's usually cheaper. Don't ever buy during holidays either.
Why should this upgrade be 200 more than the regular one that was released years ago? Shouldn't the price be similar to what the PS5 was at launch? That's usually what happens when they come out with an mid generation refresh

Does he "have make me an offer" turned on? Experienced ebayers do this so they can select an offer from a buyer with good feedback. It let's them avoid selling to scam bidders.
Part of why if didn’t upgrade. To get the specs listed, you need a monitor capable of meeting those specs with an interface standard that was new and hardly any monitor supported it. Then, you need a game that is coded to exploit the new specs. So, hardly any games and hardly any affordable hardware.
Scalping doesn't always require the item to be out of stock. It's being used as a general term to describe people trying to sell it for more than it's worth, and deliciously so, realizing that the demand just isn't there.
@@maximillionroivas3893 Oh yeah. As a side note, looks like I can just go on GameStop and get one with no issues, if I chose to. It's not at all like when PS5 first launched.
They’ll prolly stay fully stocked too, the entire cycle of the console. Now is not the environment to price your customers out like this but hey, by Sony’s own admission nearly half the PSN base is still on PS4. This monstrosity is not going to sway people to upgrade.
It's so hard to resell anything on eBay you didn't pick up at a steal at a garage sale anyway; you have to mark things up 20% just to cover eBay fees just to break even. And these people are also paying sales tax on their first purchase that they also want to recover.
The $700 price is markup enough. People should’ve boycott and not jumped on it until they lowered the price. Anything else for that price and you will be happier. Pc, handheld pc etc
Sony saw they could’ve sold the PS5 for $700, but they foolishly thought they could turn around and sell the Pro for the same. Product and demand are much different now.
I’m not ancient, but I’m in my 40’s and when I was a kid Atari was junk, the there was this huge jump from Nintendo, Aaron Super Nintendo, N64, the Sega Systems, PS1-PS2-PS3… there isn’t an enormous difference after that. Studios spend a zillion dollars on Hollywood voice actors and too many features that I don’t care about without making the games more fun
I would ban selling above normal retail for any item still in commercial production. Price increases only after a product retires. All selling platforms should have to allow automatic refunds for the difference above normal retail.
Why would we hate them for selling online? Do you not want an easier to time getting stuff? If we are going to hate it needs to for allowing the scalping to happen.

I love it. I hope they get stuck with them for months and have to pay hundreds of dollars in interest so they lose every dime they put in.
Another thing is, they’ll probably have to sell them for less than the actual market price just to get rid of it
That or youll be seein ps5 pros for 500 on ebay😂😂
Stolen credit cards BTW.
And the PS5 Pro is still in stock at retailers because no one wants it. Now the 30th Anniversary Edition is a different story
No one can can buy it
Not at my local stores, Walmart and Target both out of stock.
Yep, Sony really missed the mark on these in several ways!!
No u got to understand during covid the ps5 couldn't be made fast enough because of shortages we don't have that problem now supply and demand
@@Danzavier the PS5 30th is never in stock but the PS5 Pro is in stock online at Walmart, Target, and Best.
I agree but the issue has always been the people paying the higher price. The secondary market buyers drive the demand and pricing. If no one would buy higher than retail, the scammers would be stuck with inventory and lose money
Which means they will most likely have to sell it for less than what it was originally worth
@@Ghillie_Beast_ytThat is the point. But that will never happen because there will be inpatient people who pay the higher price the most times. Even when scalpers are losing on pro I am sure they will start scalping again on the ps6 and will get money from it.
@ it’ll most definitely happen with the PS6 unless Sony can think of some ways to prevent it
@@Ghillie_Beast_yt When they do the same line with the pro (small upgrade, huge price) then you could be right. But I hope they learn from the pro and are not doing the same. Lets see what it will be.

My favorite line from Wonka. Gene had me thinking charlie was screwed lol.
Everyone who bought a PS5 pro got destroyed. Like seriously $959 CAD for a fking video game *CONSOLE*
Doesn’t even come with any games to play on it
@@Ghillie_Beast_yt Technically untrue since it comes with Astro's Playroom (which is a genuinely fun pack-in).
I understand you meant a full game, but still.
@@dapperfan44 I guess it’s better than nothing but it doesn’t really come with any of their big titles if you get my meaning
Sony knew people would be willing to pay premium prices. So they took full advantage with the PS5 Pro. So scalpers can't really do much with this.
Same thing happened to GPUs. Scalpers set the price going forward for Nvidia. Siny and Nvidia are good. They're just doing what they should - sell for as much as possible. It's scalpers that showed them where that price sits
my mom near had a heart attack after learning i paid $300 for a playstation 2 at launch but that was backwards compatible and i could sell my original ps1 to offset the costs. playstation 2 was revolutionary offering a completely new experience and had so many incredible games unlike modern gaming today along with the new dvd player format to rent movies from blockbuster. spending over $700 for a video game console that's already halfway through its life cycle is outrageous to the point there should be a boycott.
Mine had the fan recall on my bday it was released and i tried playing games and it kept over heating i was so sad
I bought the 30th edition PS5 Slim. Been looking for a disc drive for weeks now. I live in The Netherlands, as soon as stock goes live online it gets scalped up instantly.
You should have been smarter and bought one as soon as pro was announced.
@ That woyld have been better. However I did not forsee that I would get a 30th edition console at all. I also didn’t know it would be so hard to get a discdrive.
PS5 has a slim model?
I saw two drives at Walmart last week and got one because I knew I'd need it for my anniversary slim, even though I wouldn't have it for weeks. I will never pay a scalper.
@@DEVILTAZ35Why wait that late in the day? The dude should have ordered one when the PS4 was announced.
Australia here.
The pro is 1200$aus and you can get it everywhere online and in store.
Its not selling "well" at all.
I always find bread on the shelf at the grocery market... Guess it's not selling well 🤣🤣🤣
I still am a believer that Sony had a back door deal with stock X to make more per system.
So stupid to try to scalp something that isn’t sold out
Oh no, those poor scalpers... 🎻🎶🎶🎶🎶
Said no one ever 😂
As far as I'M concerned these scalpers can eat a bag of the shortened version of the name Richards. 😂
I understand the anniversary edt but the regular one😂
I had to wait almost 2 years to get my PlayStation 5 because of these scumbags
Same
Got my PS5 on Day 1... I pre-ordered mine 7 months before release Date😁
Same
Wondering if the guy finally paid off credit cards, buying stocks of PS5 years ago 😂
Plus it gives time to iron out any bugs in the software and hardware.
I don't mind paying 700$ for the pro, but when you remove disc drive I just cancel the whole deal
An extra $50 is stopping you but 700 isn't? Sounds like a financial problem to me lol
Well u voted for Kamala so we know you like throwing money down the drain
Why should this upgrade be 200 more than the regular one that was released years ago? Shouldn't the price be similar to what the PS5 was at launch? That's usually what happens when they come out with an mid generation refresh
@@DontCensorMuahfucks this gotta do with politics you weirdo
$759 minus eBay fee 15% shipping cost with signature confirmation $30
Extra controller cost $69
Scalper made
$546 or less depending what he paid for the tax.
The pic shows they're a Sony Authorized seller, so they getting them wholesale direct from Sony. Probably making near zero profit on the console, and more on that bundled controller.
I feel bad for scalpers, they might need a real job now
Two jobs because they spent thousands on consoles nobody wants. Lmfao.
@@TwoGendersOnly they’ll most likely have to sell it for less than what it’s actually worth
How do you know if they have a job or not when they organized these secondary markets in the first place.
They have to pay eBay and PayPal their cut too.. so they made even less
Ebay takes a crazy amount.
$900 probably nets them $750.
Yeah that’s why I stopped selling stuff on there,eBay wanted like 9% it’s probably more now.
@@0thers1d3 Last time I sold on ebay it was 10% for ebay. Paypal was another 3% roughly. I had my own sales tax when I purchased the item as well. So an $800 item I sold for $1050 I actually made $20. Not kidding. However, I was happy to just get my cost back on an unneeded item so didnt hold out to make a ton. I showed the cost breakdown on the listing to show I was not trying to scalp.
Here in Germany someone is trying to sell the ps5 pro 30th anniversary edition on ebay for €49k ( that's $52k) , I think he is a little too optimistic, no one is that stupid, right ?
Wow, that's insane😂
Does he "have make me an offer" turned on? Experienced ebayers do this so they can select an offer from a buyer with good feedback. It let's them avoid selling to scam bidders.
And what some people dont realize is that you donr have a decent mid range tv you will not see any difference from your regular PS5.
Actually lower end tvs don't have vrr so games that had a lot of frame drops on ps 5 will be lot smoother for them on the pro
Part of why if didn’t upgrade. To get the specs listed, you need a monitor capable of meeting those specs with an interface standard that was new and hardly any monitor supported it. Then, you need a game that is coded to exploit the new specs. So, hardly any games and hardly any affordable hardware.
How is the PS5 Pro being scalped? All four of my local Wal-Marts are stacked with them....
Likewise
Scalping doesn't always require the item to be out of stock. It's being used as a general term to describe people trying to sell it for more than it's worth, and deliciously so, realizing that the demand just isn't there.
@@dapperfan44 Ahhhh....I see.
The sad part is... This only hurts retailers as the scalpers would just return them to the store
At my store, the regular PS5 slim (both the digital and the disk edition) started to sell out before the ps5 pro came out.
I figured this would happen. Keep in mind eBay takes a 10% cut of their sale too.
14 percent now lol. I hope the scalpers lose terribly and their wives leave them
13% and the IRS takes 10%to 20%
Brings me joy to see scalpers taking a bath for once.
I've allready stated shame ing people in my local FB marketplace telling them to return It or play it otherwise they will lose thier bum on it.
Sony finding out that people aren't willing to pay 700 bucks for a minor upgrade
Pretty sure you can get a better performing PC for that price
@@Ghillie_Beast_yt ,not better, keep coping...you need 1200$+ PC...
Just buy the ps5 original and you save triple the amount, just skip the pro sh1.t
@ I don’t see a reason to buy a PS5 when I have an Xbox series X
I hope that means we don't have to pay more then 700 for ps6 without diskdrive.
Can’t blame sony i mean you guys fell for the chip shortage bs😂😂 they probably saw you guys as easy marks after that
So in a way the Scalpers pretty much scammed themselves since ain't no way gonna buy these for 4× the normal price! 🤣
Man, Sony better get the message loud and clear about the disc drive removal not being cool….at all.
It's so hard to resell anything on eBay you didn't pick up at a steal at a garage sale anyway; you have to mark things up 20% just to cover eBay fees just to break even. And these people are also paying sales tax on their first purchase that they also want to recover.
Merry Christmas scalpers, and a Happy New Year!😂😂😂😂
People weren't even paying the default price for them, and these idiots thought they could overcharge for them.
The $700 price is markup enough. People should’ve boycott and not jumped on it until they lowered the price. Anything else for that price and you will be happier. Pc, handheld pc etc
To stop scalping require ID to order these at launch or make them buy in store only
Sony saw they could’ve sold the PS5 for $700, but they foolishly thought they could turn around and sell the Pro for the same. Product and demand are much different now.
Antonline aren't scalpers, they are a legitimate business. WTH dude, I don't live in US and I know this retailer.
Imagine being in the electronics space for a living and not realizing Antonline is an actual retailer, not a scalper 😂
I saw Dr. Robotnik ( Eggman) in the thumbnail and I clicked.😅😅😅
Antonline is a retailer not a scalper.
Came here to say similar. They just use eBay as an additional storefront.
How would he not know this? Antonline is very well known. 😂
Antonline is a regular online retailer. so seeing that bundle isn't suprising
There needs to be laws against artificially increasing prices on new product releases within the first year.
I would ban selling above normal retail for any item still in commercial production. Price increases only after a product retires. All selling platforms should have to allow automatic refunds for the difference above normal retail.
Very happy to see you laugh at something for once, it's good, let's laugh at the awful scalpers
I'll wait till they release one (with the disk drive and vertical stand) in black.
Don't hold your breath!😂
We need to hate the manufacturer for selling everything on fucking line.
Why would we hate them for selling online? Do you not want an easier to time getting stuff? If we are going to hate it needs to for allowing the scalping to happen.
@ lmao going to the store is not difficult. You could at least wait in line on launch day for the people who really wanted it, and could only buy one. You didn’t have to compete with bots.
I dont think these are even selling well at retailers. I went to my local Walmart on Friday. They had 3 in stock. I came back Sunday, and the same 3 were still in stock.
This is an overpriced console that nobody asked for.
I waited outside online to buy my first ps2 when it came out than my apartment got robbed and it got stollen
Noooo! 😢
Scalping should be a federal offense.
The whole world works on supply and demand lol. I get not liking the scalper aspect of it, but a federal offense? Nah 😂
It's 100% capitalism.
are scalpers bypassing tax?
@@chesster423 They are not. In reality they are getting extra sales tax for their own state. They probably dont report it on their income tax though, so maybe.

That is Antonline I don't think they are scalpers, it was one of the venders I saw many times when I fought for my PS5. They Sold bundles but it was all fair pricing. They even have a badge there saying the are part of the Sony Retailer Network(see 9:59)
Yea, rage baiter. Unsubbed
plus it's not a limited release, sure you have to wait, but i would rather do that then overpay
Don’t forget eBay charges 13% across the top for sales and shipping and the IRS wants 10 to 20%. These idiots are gonna have a hard time selling is just like they did the PS3 when itI first came out.
Scalpers isnt the problem. Its the clowns that are suffering from the fomo effect that are willing to pay double or triple the price of what something is actually worth.
Yea I kinda agree.
Scalpers imho are part of the problem but it's the individuals who pay for scalped up-priced items which helps fuel the machine.
Didn’t dreamcastguy say the Pro was a smash hit?
If by smash hit you mean it's the best selling console in most of the world, then I suppose it is.

He should've capped off the scalper diss with "You lose! Good day, sir!" from Willy Wonka and the Chicolate Factory. I kind of knew this would happen.
