  • Looking into the reasons for a Lambretta engine starting issues and the remedy to put it back on the road in time for spring this year

    Before modern cleaners I often used petrol as an engine cleaner. Works great but stings like hell if you've any cuts! My budget never stretched to gloves. Informative vid.

      Hi Paul ,gloves are a must nowdays. Brake cleaner is great too

      Petroleum products on your skin are carcenogenic .

      PPE is a must, you only live once, I do have a parts washer that gets used when there are a few parts to be cleaned.

    hi bro ... i like to change rings every 4000 and piston every 8000 . change small end its pennys and its better safe than sorry .... enjoy happy new year

      Hi mate ,I hope your good in Espanya , the engine was rebuilt mid of last year as far as I know. If its done 4k I would be amazed.

      yes all good mate . the problem with working on other peoples engine builds is , you have no idea what was done or the milage on any of the parts . keep up good work ...@@m1scooterlife259

      by the way if the barrel is tighter in the middle could be honing technique . as it spends more time at the end of the bore and less in the middle .... if thats any help

      @TheSteelweasel new piston and barrel on the way, I will be checking it out for any pinch points

    The engines I've dismantled its often the case that someone has been inside but not replaced everything as it should be ...
    I just describe it as a bodge up

      I used to ,but you never know the full story , these days I look at it as a mystery and also a learning curve. I started doing my own rebuilds as I found it was the only way to guarantee the parts you bought were put into your engine.
