I have this. I had ACDF surgery and Dtrax surgery in 2021. In 2022, all the pain came back. Been to see multiple doctors. The latest Dr. Has told me either I go through pain management or injections. OR they will not help me. I have had a Dr, tell me the narrowing below and above my hardware, is not that bad. Almost 2 yrs of this. IT has turned my life upside down. My independence has been taken from me. Because of all this.
Sorry to hear you've suffered so much. Was it just the neck pain that came back, or arm numbness/weakness as well? Local neck pain isn't that uncommon after surgery, but if you're still having nerve symptoms, make sure your doctors are aware. Good luck!
@@More4Life It's my arms and legs now. And also my feet. I have seen a foot doctor tell me my feet issues have to do with my neck. I have told every doctor I have come in contact with. But they won't listen to me. April 5th 2024, will be exactly 2 yrs I have been dealing with this. The latest Dr has even said I have bone spurs in multiple levels. And they have admitted C7 is bulging. But like I said above, unless I am willing to do through pain management ( which means meds) or injections. They are not willing to help me. And let me suffer. I have weakness in my arms as well. And my tremors have gotten a lot worse. The tremors are not coming from my head. They has been checked as well.
@@buddysmom819 if it's the legs and feet too, that's usually due more to central canal spinal stenosis / cervical myelopathy. Thank you Doctor Dave these really have helped I know I went to a physical therapy the last 7 years and just by looking at this it helps remind me about the chin text I love that one against the wall where you go up that really relieves the stuff neck. I do ice and heat and ice and heat when I'm in pain.
I couldn't tell you for sure having not seen the images, but if arthritis shows on the x-rays or MRIs, it's likely there. Arthritis doesn't tend to "go away" on the images, but the pain more than likely can go away with the proper treatment.
There are no supplements specifically for degenerative disc disease, and especially not ones that "regenerate" discs. There are general ones like Curcumin + Black Pepper that are anti-inflammatory and may help with pain, but most DDD problems aren't inflammatory anyway. I'd say it's unlikely that supplements will make a profound difference though other than for short-term pain relief.
At 18, it's likely that you'll be able to recover from it. The quicker you fix your training technique/form though, the less likely it is to have long-term consequences down the road.
I had x-rays late last year that showed cerv ddd. I went in because I was getting numbness and headaches when I put pressure on the back of my neck while sleeping. When I try to straighten my posture and bring my head back, I can feel the numbness in my neck traveling up to my head.
Often bringing the head back narrows the spaces where the nerves come out. Here's a posture correction technique that may work better for you: th-cam.com/video/Qx3SMxgUQnY/w-d-xo.html
@@More4Life Thanks! Also, is there a way to safely build the chest through weights with cerv ddd? I read somewhere that bench press is bad for the neck, and I shouldn't be lifting over my head. Is that true?
@@PapagenoMF it's rarely a question of "IF" an exercise is safe but rather "HOW" to do it safely and "HOW MUCH" you can do safely. Hi Dave how are you? Thank you very much for this great video! I live in Australia and am currently 67. In August 2022 all my neck issues started. I used to be a super fit road bicycle rider. Also I used to go the gym and at age 64 I could bench press 165 pounds (75 kg). Unfortunately I have been run over by cars in the last 11 years while riding in the bike lane. These accidents caused various fractures and bad whiplash. After seeing 2 neurosurgeon here in AUS I decided to go to Folrida (Aug 2023) at the Deukspine Institure to decompress my left C6 and C7 nerves with laser surgery (not ACDF) plus a bilateral C5-T1 rhizothomies. This was the biggest mistake that I made in my life because, not only it cost me a fortune, but the surgery made me a lot worse. The surgeon (Dr Deuk) decompressed these discs which were already thin to begin with, but I wasn't aware of this at the time. SInce I have come back my neck has become a lot worse and more symptomatic. I have chronic pain, bad inflamation throughout my neck from top to bottom as well as C7-T1. I have seen many physios who partially relieved the bad muscles spasms, facet joints using manipulation and traction. The relief was short lived. The physio cleared me to do physical activities such as light bicycle cycling on the bike track (no roads), gentle excercises at the gym and walks. I have been doing these activities with some difficulties and with some pain. The physio told me that it is better to move than doing nothing. I keep getting flareups, very stiff neck, burning pain in the neck to the sides. I have tried everything like hot/cold packs, gentle stretching, chin tucks etc. but with little relief. I feel very exhausted daily, because I can't sleep properly at night due to the bad pain. My symptoms are mainly sharp/burning pain in the neck from top to bottom sometimes shooting in shoulders, traps, biceps, triceps, hands and fingers. At times I get shocks going to my back, groin, legs, feet, tight toes. Symptoms are aggravated by sitting and lying down. When I am standing I feel the least symptoms. I asked my neurologist about the symptoms (some Numbess and pain) in my legs and feet. He told me that it could be cervical stenosis but the MRI was negative for cervical stenosis. When my neck gets a pain spike I also feel it in my feet. My GP told me that I could also be suffering from Central Nervous Synstem sensitization. I tried physcology but it didn't work. I have consulted with 3 neurosurgeons here in Melbourne Australia who advised my not to get an ACDF because there is no guarantee that I will be pain free. They also discoraged me from getting further facet joint nerve ablations because they will weaken the muscles. I know that I am a complex case, but in your extensive experience what can I do? Is it safe to do lite bycicle riding and gym exercises (light exercises with dummbell bench press, flies, incline, decline, bicep, tricep? What relief techniques can I use? Thank you. Alfred.
Sorry to hear you've had such trouble. I very much would agree with your GP that after all of that the central nervous system is likely sensitized. Fortunately for you, some of the leading chronic pain researchers in the world are from around Melbourne (David Butler, Lorimer Moseley). I don't think that they treat patients personally anymore, but here is the NeuorOrthopedic Institute (NOI) clinician directory. There are at least 4 listed in Melbourne. www.noigroup.com/clinician-directory/ Good luck!
Im have same issue from last 2 years now im 24 years old ..i take lot of medicine but its not working .. now face pain n i think i lost whole neck disc 😢 . Wht should i do i have tmj also .
I can't tell you specifically what to do, but have you seen a physical therapist yet? Neck issues are a big factor in TMJ. Here's a video with TMJ exercises that may help, but definitely get things checked out in person. th-cam.com/video/nFio3i8EjA4/w-d-xo.html Note: If you're getting numbness and tingling in your face as well, that's more of a serious issue to go to the hospital about immediately.
Every case is different and you'll have to consult with a healthcare provider in your area to find out what is best for you. Neck operations are helpful for some, but they should be reserved as a last resort when other conservative measures have failed as any surgery has risks.
