  • Hey Guys!
    I was asked to do a video on my pedal order and how I "set" them
    Again, this is just my way to acheive good communication between all FUZZ, Drive and WAHWAH Tones.
    Maybe some of this may help!

    Apreciate it, thanks man! I run my fuzz and duellist the same but i havent put my univibe last after drives for a long time...its before the KT vintage fuzz, I really dig the univibes "preamp" going into fuzz...

    boost after distortion/Fuzz and then cleaning up with the guitar is what works for me too. I tried to do boost>OD to take the OD into fuzz territory but whenever I used the boost on its own for a clean solo it was very stale. Dialing back on an Dist/fuzz is good bc you can still retain the midrange of the pedal and jump out in the mix

    Hey Nik thanks for the detail! I use my volume knob constantly - what are you’re favorite values for the bleed?

    • @theriffwniksevigny5473
      @theriffwniksevigny5473  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      All guitars are different. But. Anywhere from 330pf to 1000pf. Ive done a treble bleed video on here to test different values!

  • @rockeye
    @rockeye 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Awesome gear, tone, knowledge! Thanks so much Nik! Serious question(s): Do you gig regularly? What part of the country do you live in where clubs allow you to play at these volumes? Does gig money pay for the obsession or do you take a loss financially when purchasing such awesome gear? Do you break even when chasing tone financially? I ask because personally I'm at the point where I now ask "what's the point anymore?" Thanks!!

    • @theriffwniksevigny5473
      @theriffwniksevigny5473  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      RaZoRsEdGe yes. I gig on the east coast. I work hard and am smart with my money. I also work a full time job before all of that. So i hustle. Look for a deal Thats how i do it

  • @anejo333

    Awesome Video Nik! You set me in a great direction with a germanium fuzz. Thanks and what was the value on that treble bleed resistance? I didn't hear what it was lol

    • @anejo333
      @anejo333 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      ultimateguitarwizard yeah I just thought the resistance value was a mystery. Right now I'm trying to figure out what value in relation to the pot. Seems like the cap is always the same but resistance is different. Thanks for the help

  • @dezionlion

    I have similar pedals on the same size pedal train, and it can be hard to make them all fit. You did a great job of making them all fit, and work together without any buffers or loops . Except that first pedal, what’s that for, and would it sound the same without it?

  • @hamescradel

  • @alejandrogabasabarcoj8658
    @alejandrogabasabarcoj8658 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi! Why you use a splitter as first pedal? And are you using the tuner as last pedal? Why? Don't you use a buffer pedal in this signal chain? Thanks and awesome tone man!

    • @theriffwniksevigny5473
      @theriffwniksevigny5473  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Everything you asked is answered in the vid
      The keeley splitter is just a union into the fuzz
      No buffer in the setup. Never used them.

    Hey Nik,
    Some people claim that with fuzz before wah the tone is very synth sounding, compared to wah then fuzz. I couldn't detect that in your tone here or any of your other videos. Do you find that to be true?
    Thanks!

    • @theriffwniksevigny5473
      @theriffwniksevigny5473  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ive just always used fuzz first
      The circuit wants to see the guitar pickups first.

  • @Marciocp2

    Hi Nick! I did the true bypass mod on my wah pedal but noticed a drop in volume when the pedal was engaged. I then changed the swith and made the wire connections. Did you also notice this drop in volume after the mod? Did you change any resistor in the circuit when you made the mod? cheers bro

    • @theriffwniksevigny5473
      @theriffwniksevigny5473  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Marcio C.P well if you've converted to true bypass, replace the 68K series input resistor with a lower value, say 47K. This gives a slight increase in volume. Too low a value is likely to result in the pedal picking up radio interference. But that mod should help you!

    hey Nik, can all this be accomplished with a lower wattage amp? I have a Louis Electric Princetone reverb, it has a 12” speaker and 6L6 tubes for 28 watts. It sounds pretty good with descent breakup when turned up, I am a bedroom player so I do have to use an attenuator. Buy my tone is not even close to yours, is it because of the attenuator? Or do I need a Super reverb? thanks

    • @theriffwniksevigny5473
      @theriffwniksevigny5473  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Stephen Prater i would think with that amp, all of your tones are possible. Use the amp to get your overdriven tone, lighten up on the right hand when looking for cleans, and you got it all my friend!

      @@theriffwniksevigny5473 right on, I'm curious about one other thing if you dont mind answering. I have the dunlop cheese wedge and I'm considering the octaland and just curious if you think its "worth" the upgrade. I like the extra features bit my main concern is if it has all the cool artifacts like the cheese wedge and sounds as authentic to you? Even if you think it's just a bit nicer for standard octavia sounds then I'll probably go that route...thanks, man. Nice playing as always..
