Thank you for this.... I got all wide eyed when I saw the new Siser easycolor dtv, and the color is not as bright as my tried and true!! Thank you again!!
I also had a problem transferring the design onto the mask. I got some curling and also wrinkling and also had some small areas where the design was not cut correctly and my blade is new. I had recently changed it and had only used it like 4 or 5 times prior to this. I will definitely use the more pressure setting next time. I also noticed Siser recommends the regular Vinyl setting. Will have to try something different next time. Thanks for the video by the way. Love your videos!!
I have seen a couple other videos, if you have a design that big and 1 piece, you can just pull the design off the backing, no mask needed. Also if it curls just lay it on the heat press bottom, don't shut the top and the heat will make it lay flat, then you can lay it on your pre pressed shirt to press.
I tried all that however speaking directly with siser we discovered my epson already prints really high quality and by turning high on it dumped out a lot of ink onto the page combined with the humidity it did not allow the ink to fully dry which cause it to stick to the transfer sheet and it to uncurl as well. After doing many tests not turning high for quality on made everything better.
I wouldn’t design something like this in design space. I would use Inkscape or canva which I do have videos on. Design space is not a quality program for designing high quality print projects
Looking for something that works like sublimination, since I do not have a sub printer. It does look like I would need a heat press to make either of these work. I only have an easy press at this time. I had to laugh when you mentioned the humidity in Ohio. I am in SW Ohio and it is always humid, year round. A day without humidity is a day to call Ripley's. LOL. Thanks for the test on these two products. This might inspire me to get a heat press.
Great comparison video! I think there was puckering because there were puckers in the carrier sheet, when you laid it down. I think a fix for that, would be to lay the design down and use the "taco" method (like for regular vinyl) to get a good start.
The puckering was caused by the ink not being dry. My printer dumped too much ink and being combined with the humidity could not dry fully and there for didn’t stick correctly to the sheet.
@@CorinneBlackstone Can you give me the name of the "transfer cover" I know that is not what you called it but I cannot remember. I want to purchase some.
@@CorinneBlackstone One question, did you print on the plain paper setting or what setting did you use? I don't think I heard you mention that, or maybe I missed it.
So what’s the difference between heat transfer printable vinyl vs the ones you showed in the video? For me it looks like the same thing and the only difference is using a transfer mask instead.
They are pretty similar it’s just a different brand and way it’s applied. I would recommend watching the wash update video to see the difference in how they held up
If you use a Teflon sheet it without mask it makes it gloss. If you use parchment paper matte. Also you can change out afterwards as well. So if you did it glossy and decided it should have been matte you can put parchment paper press for 5 sec and it will become matte finish and visa versa. That was from Siser information video.
Just depends on your mat. I have used both blue and green both worked fine. The back of the siser DTV is more of a plastic style back its not paper so it won't stick as much as something with a paper backing.
Did you happen to let the product dry overnight like Siser suggests? I was watching a video of theirs and they said if it’s over saturated with color it could just be a dry time thing🤷🏻♀️They say the mask might have issues sticking. Thanks!
I actually didn’t which I think was some of the issue. I tried it again and let it sit for a couple days and it worked better. The epson I don’t think needs to be on high quality for the print
@@CorinneBlackstone awesome! I haven’t used mine yet and I’m so glad you’re always willing to use the materials you have and get to know them first so I don’t waste my products! It’s very much appreciated!
I just want to share in case someone is wondering. I ordered my DTV but not with mask. I didn't know I needed it. Anyway, I had some leftover Siser EasySubli mask and it works perfectly.
That’s because it’s not posted. I haven’t made it to 20’washes yet but I can tell you the siser DTV would not be my choice over Starcraft. It faded quickly, the color bled and now the color is actually coming off the design
Cause it doesn’t exsist yet. We keep forgetting to wash them and now our washer is part of a fire recall. But I will say Starcraft is out performing siser dtv by leaps and bounds. The dtv faded it’s cracking, the color is coming off and leaving white spots. Also about wash two or three color transferred from the dtv to the shirt itself
How strange…. I haven’t had that happen. I wonder what fabric shirts? What printer are you using? Are you allowing the images to dry for awhile before washing?
Do you mean use the dtv? If so you can but I don’t know that it would even stretch enough for that. Anything like that is going to have distorting to the design when stretched
It did not only first one but I have spoken with siser directly and we have figured out that it was causing issues because my printer is already a quality printer and by putting it on high it put out a lot of ink which cause the curling and not sticking to the transfer mask
@@reneejurgensen7280 it depends on what you are making. If your sticker has a white offset or outline around it the bleed makes no difference. What bleed does is it pushed the color around the edge of your design out a bit to hide if the cricut cuts off a bit. Like for these because the black is all the way around to where I want it to cut leaving bleed on could help hide any white that may show because the cricut cut it slightly off
I really want to try this, but the fact that it doesn't cut through on the tiny bits is something that I've seen with more than one video. I honestly think it's the product and not the blade. But I'm going to try it anyway. I'll simply have my exacto knife nearby.
@@CorinneBlackstone I just saw a trick using transfer tape on top to print and cut. Apparently it keeps the small corners from moving, and lets the blade cut through. I just changed my blade too; I'll try it with the old blade and the new and report back!
The issue with the TTD you’re having is you’re applying it wrong. You cannot just place from above. You need to roll it onto the DTV (or any other similar product).
No actually the issue I was having is the ink wasn’t dry. I made another one and did it without high quality and applied TTD the same way and it worked perfectly
Great tutorial but Cricut needs to fix that print and cut size , I waste far less materials with my Cameo and the lack of print and cut ability is why I sold the Cricut

You have to pre press the t shirt then it will unpeel on the garment. The siser is great, you don't need the heat transfer.
You don’t need to prepress a shirt. I never do. And like I mentioned in the video I used the transfer due to some curling on a previous shirt

Did you use the setting on the Cricut for cutting as rice paper or every day iron on for the DTV?
Rice paper is for Starcraft the siser is everyday iron on
I have tried a couple of times using the print and cut with Cricut. Is there a way to cut as one piece when you have white in the design?
Either any part that is white put a shape behind it and then flatten it or make a very small offset and flatten it
Could a regular iron be used or does it have to be a heat press?
You can use a home iron but the results may vary
Is this applicable only on garments but not on any other kinds of surface like leather, wood, glass or plastics? thanks
I imagine it would be ok on leather but no glass or plastic. I haven’t tried it on wood
