Hi Jennifer, thank you so much for all of your tutorial videos, they are so helpful. Regarding sublimation prints using Siser Easy subli vinyl. Initial printing is crips, and vivid but after washing is the print appears blurry. Why would this be happening? Your print in video remained the same after washing.
Sublimation prints using Siser Easy Subli vinyl appear crisp and vivid initially but may become blurry after washing on a cotton shirt due to the nature of the materials and the washing process. Over time, the ink can start to bleed, especially in areas with dark colors. This blurring effect is more noticeable on cotton shirts because the fabric doesn't hold the sublimation ink as well as polyester. Additionally, washing and handling can cause the ink to spread slightly, leading to a less crisp design. To mitigate this, it's important to follow proper washing instructions, such as washing the shirts inside out with cool water and mild detergent on a gentle cycle. jennifermaker.com/sublimate-dark-shirts/
Hi im investigating into sublimation, with the htv if i invest in the epson printer and yse the htv what would i use to cut the vinyl or do i press a whole shet of vinyl.

Hi Jennifer, I just finished watching your show. Are you able to use the sublimation spray on dark cotton fabrics or just white? You have a lot of great ideas. Thank you for sharing and helping and teaching.
It needs to be one of these. Black will not work. Iron-on vinyl depending on your shirt color, like Siser Holographic HTV (I used Rainbow Pearl), Cricut Glow in the Dark Iron On, or Cricut Iron on Glitter in White -OR- Sublimation Spray Bottle with a Foam Roller You can check out the affiliate links in the materials list. jennifermaker.com/how-to-sublimate-on-cotton/
Hi Jennifer, I have a question on sublimating on black shirts is there a way or what can I use that’s is not glitter since I making a shirt for a men. Please help TIA. I love all you videos they are such a great help.
My first cut on my image came out perfect. When I do the second basic cut it cuts out slightly bigger but not all the way around. If I use this I will have white around some parts of my image. I've redone the whole thing and it's the same each time. Any ideas? Thanks.
There's no option to scale either one. I asked before about not having the print options you have (and other videos from other creators) and it's not like I don't know my way around a computer. The option to scale is set to none. I did some more testing and both images are exactly the same size in design space and it is basically a single shape that needs to be cut. On one test instead of basic cut I just made it print and cut and the second image is printed larger than the first. There were no changes in print settings. So, I've determined the cutter is working fine as it is cutting out what's printed. But the second print increases in size and it seems to be by almost a 1/4 inch. If I reduce the basic cut by .24 it lines up perfectly.
Hi thanks for all your great tutorials I learned a lot from you. I’m confused with the sisser easy subli htv why dont we print straight to the vinyl instead of doing this process. Thanks
I tried to sublimate over glow in the dark HTV and my design is not vibrant at all and you can hardly see the design when its in the dark. What did I do wrong? I pressed the glow in the dark for only a few seconds to stick it to the shirt then put the sublimation design over and pressed that at 380 for about 40 seconds.
Thank you so much Jennifer! Does anyone know what I can use with my Sawgross S500 sublijet ink to sublimate on dark cotton? Does it have good results? Can I use Siser EasySubli with my sublijet ink? Thank you!
@@JenniferMakerI rewatched your video 3 times and realized that was a silly question because you said it!! Lol thank you! Does everyone like subli ink or easy subli ink better? I have a HP printer so I cannot to the DTV method? HP and sawgrass printers are what I have. Thank you!
No, and the care instructions would be the same as vinyl and no high heat. Hang to dry or low heat. Here is the updated blog post and the list is in the materials list. jennifermaker.com/sublimate-dark-shirts/
You do such a great job of explaining things. Your sublimation printer review really helped me decide which sublimation printer to get given I already have the Sawgrass 500 model but it’s hard to print designs large enough for larger shirt sizes. I chose an epson 15000 so I could have the wide format option.
Can we use any white HTV on black cotton shirts and follow the first set of instructions (mirror the vinyl cut & no additional mask then lay the sublimation print on top)? I already have white HTV and am trying to avoid buying more if I don't need to haha. Thank you for such an educational video :)
I am using A sub paper and an epson 2850 with sublimation ink. I attempted to transfer on to white htv and a black cotton shirt. The colors look washed out or faded. I tried twice and same outcome. What am I doing wrong?
Same thing happened to me. The link she gave doesn't give any help. I am thinking the white vinyl wasn't the right kind? She used glitter, holographic, glow in the dark and Subli in the video and I used just plain htv white
@jennifermaker If I have a complex design that contains a lot of white in it. Do I need to add a shape behind the design? That way the Cricut knows to cut around the design and not all of the white pieces? If that makes sense. Do I need to use the welding tool as well for this? And masking, the mask I have was extremely difficult to transfer the vinyl to. I used the scraper tool for 15 minutes plus, is this normal? Is that the bonding process?
Hi. Great teaching! I just did a HTV printing on 100% cotton t shirt. Used sublimation print on an A Sub paper 120g. The print turned out faded. What should I do different? I checked my heat press platten temperature vs the readout..I got 25F lower reading from the 408F from the machine's readout. Could this have caused the faded result?
That could be. There could be other factors as well. There are other options to use on cotton on the blog post. jennifermaker.com/how-to-sublimate-on-cotton/ You can also ask in the group and show a photo for help. facebook.com/groups/sublimationmadeeasy
If you have converted your Epson 2850 printer to use sublimation ink, it is not recommended to use it for printing onto printable vinyl for an inkjet printer. Sublimation ink is specifically designed for sublimation processes and may not adhere properly to printable vinyl, which is typically designed for use with regular inkjet ink. For the best results, you should use a printer with regular inkjet ink for printing onto printable vinyl. If you want to use sublimation ink, you should stick to sublimation paper and compatible materials.
I tried using the white HTV from Siser to sublimate on a cotton shirt. The image ends up dull and not vibrant at all. Do I need to use a different vinyl to get a better result? I saw other suggestions of having too much heat will also do this but I tried different heat settings with the same dull result. In case it matters, I'm using hippo sub ink in an epson ET-2800 printer on A-sub paper.
You would need to use these types. Not just plain HTV. Siser Holographic HTV (I used Rainbow Pearl), Cricut Glow in the Dark Iron On, or Cricut Iron on Glitter in White jennifermaker.com/how-to-sublimate-on-cotton/
Hi Jennifer! I love your videos, but I feel I may be missing a very obvious part somewhere. With your Easy Subli method, are both the design AND the plain white on Easy Subli paper? Or is the all-white layer a different type of HTV?
Not sure what I did wrong. I tacked HTV onto my felt, put sublimation design over that and then was unable to peel sublimation paper off of my design. Please advise me if you have any ideas of what I did wrong. Thanks in advance. Love your videos.
Regular HTV will not work. These are the ones that worked for us: Iron-on vinyl depending on your shirt color, like Siser Holographic HTV (I used Rainbow Pearl), Cricut Glow in the Dark Iron On, or Cricut Iron on Glitter in White -OR- Sublimation Spray Bottle with a Foam Roller Here is the post for more details. jennifermaker.com/how-to-sublimate-on-cotton/
Amazing video im learning so much but i have some problems with EasyColor DTV when i put my t-shirt into wash machine some ink came out and it looks horrible. I dont know how to fix this. Im using Epson Ecotank L3251 with Epson 103 ink. Which ink u used in this video ? Or could there be problem when i pressing with heatpress not enough? I hope u answer me. Thank u so much.
Thank you, extremely helpful. Any thoughts on products like Fade Stopper, which are supposedly designed to protect finished sublimated prints from fading (especially on cotton or blends)?
Great suggestion! I went to their website to look up the product. It does say that it is not compatible with HIPPO ink. sublimatespray.com/product/fade-stopper-7oz/
I followed directions step by step, thank you so much. But I have a more complex design, and the EasySubli cuts on a bigger size than my image! Impossible to match! What am I doing wrong?
@@JenniferMaker I had the image duplicated and they were exactly the same as you instructed. 19 cm in width. And then it cut the EasySubli at 19.7 cm in width.
@@JenniferMaker Never mind, found the problem. The printer is shrinking the print and cut image by a bit. Epson 2850. I will try to see what I can do. So little settings for this one.
Your videos are so helpful and easy to follow. I'm trying to make an end-of-the-year shirt for my son to wear on the last day of school, and I just have one question: can you sublimate on the front AND back of the shirt? I'm worried that reheating the shirt to sublimate on the second side will undo the sublimation from the first side. Thanks.
Hi jennifer, i love watching your videos its helped me a lot, i was just wondering if anyone else had a problem of doing this so i printed sub picture, as print and cut but the vinyl bit came out smaller than the picture, i calibrated it, also doesnt come out as bright when i do a print and cut
Not just plain smart iron-on vinyl. These are the ones that work. Iron-on vinyl depending on your shirt color, like Siser Holographic HTV (I used Rainbow Pearl), Cricut Glow in the Dark Iron On, or Cricut Iron on Glitter in White -OR- Sublimation Spray Bottle with a Foam Roller.
I’m new to all of this and I’m trying to print on a black shirt I even bought the htv heat transfer for dark clothes and when I pulled the sublimation paper off you couldn’t even see the design. Can you give me some ideas what I can do
Sublimation ink is transparent so you will see the color of the shirt through it. If your shirt is a dark navy then most likely you won't see the design. You can sublimate onto sublimation vinyl and put that on to your cotton shirt.🥰
Does using Easy Color DTV always have to be used on cotton, or can I use a blend? Thanks! Since I don't have a sublimation printer, I'm going to try this!
Hi I have a question , so If I decide to do the Cricht method , then I don’t have to do the spray still if it’s cotton? Or what if I want to do the spray method only , that means I can sublimate on black tshirts with the spray method only?

Sublimation ink is specifically designed for sublimation processes and may not adhere properly to printable vinyl, which is typically designed for use with regular inkjet ink. For the best results, you should use a printer with regular inkjet ink for printing onto printable vinyl. If you want to use sublimation ink, you should stick to sublimation paper and compatible materials.
Hi Jennifer, thanks for sharing. Can we use regular white htv instead of easy subli ?
You need to make sure that whatever you are sublimating onto has a polyester coating. Not all HTV does.
Thank you so much! This helped me so much. I kept saying to myself there has to be a way! Perfect!
I'm glad it was helpful!
Yes, you can see the different types in the materials list. jennifermaker.com/how-to-sublimate-on-cotton/
Not sure what I did wrong. I tacked HTV onto my felt, put sublimation design over that and then was unable to peel sublimation paper off of my design. Please advise me if you have any ideas of what I did wrong. Thanks in advance. Love your videos.
Regular HTV will not work. These are the ones that worked for us: Iron-on vinyl depending on your shirt color, like Siser Holographic HTV (I used Rainbow Pearl), Cricut Glow in the Dark Iron On, or Cricut Iron on Glitter in White -OR-
Sublimation Spray Bottle with a Foam Roller Here is the post for more details. jennifermaker.com/how-to-sublimate-on-cotton/
Hipoo sublimation ink was used. You can see the details on the blog post here. jennifermaker.com/how-to-sublimate-on-cotton/
@@JenniferMaker thank u so much.
I'm late to the show but did the htv need to be siser? There's so many other options that come up when I'm looking
No, it does not. jennifermaker.com/sublimate-dark-shirts/
I love it! Also where can I get the furniture that your Cricut is sitting on?
Thank you! If you are referring to the machine stands, Greg and I made those on a 3D Printer. 💗
Can you use this technique for infusible ink sheets on a dark cotton shirt?
Yes. Infusible Ink is sublimation.
Hello can I use normal permanent vinyl under and after sublimation paper or have to be exactly easysubli that what did you used??? thanks a lot!
Here are the different options that can be use listed in the materials list. jennifermaker.com/how-to-sublimate-on-cotton/
Love scissor subly I'm going to try the power this mothth.
The subli is a great product!
So we can use regular iron on vinyl as the base and then add our mirrored print to it ??
Yes, take a look at my step by step directions on my tutorial, jennifermaker.com/how-to-sublimate-on-cotton/ 💗
I used HTVRont rainbow glitter HTV and sublimated on top of that on a onesie. Will my design fade after washing it since it wasn’t polyester?
You sublimated on top of the glitter HTV, right? Then it should be fine🥰
Have you had any issues with black shirts turning the white vinyl dark gray when pressing the sublimation layer?
Oh no! I haven't experienced that issue Bonnie!
I followed directions step by step, thank you so much. But I have a more complex design, and the EasySubli cuts on a bigger size than my image! Impossible to match! What am I doing wrong?
You are not able to adjust the size?
Thanks.
You can sublimate on both sides but put a barrier on the inside of the shirt like a pressing mat.
@@JenniferMaker Terrific! Thank you! I just did my first sublimation t-shirt and I'm super proud of it! Thank you for the instructions and confidence!
Hi jennifer, i love watching your videos its helped me a lot, i was just wondering if anyone else had a problem of doing this so i printed sub picture, as print and cut but the vinyl bit came out smaller than the picture, i calibrated it, also doesnt come out as bright when i do a print and cut
You design won't be vibrant until you press it. 🥰
@@JenniferMaker i did, and it came.out dull xx
Can I use cricut smart iron on as the base vinyl? ❤
Not just plain smart iron-on vinyl. These are the ones that work. Iron-on vinyl depending on your shirt color, like Siser Holographic HTV (I used Rainbow Pearl), Cricut Glow in the Dark Iron On, or Cricut Iron on Glitter in White -OR-
Sublimation Spray Bottle with a Foam Roller.
I love this video, thank you! Can you use any type of iron on vinyl or is it just the ones you mentioned, thank you x
It needs to be done with the ones mentioned to work. jennifermaker.com/how-to-sublimate-on-cotton/
My husband just brought home a brand new Epson EcoTank printer for sublimating!!!!!
Awesome!
@@JenniferMaker I know, right? Next up, he's building me a larger, second work table for all my crafting because I am running out of room! HAHAHA
I’m new to all of this and I’m trying to print on a black shirt I even bought the htv heat transfer for dark clothes and when I pulled the sublimation paper off you couldn’t even see the design. Can you give me some ideas what I can do
Here is an updated tutorial. jennifermaker.com/sublimate-dark-shirts/
Can you use the sublimation spray on a navy blue cotton shirt and then press on the sublimated printed item?
Sublimation ink is transparent so you will see the color of the shirt through it. If your shirt is a dark navy then most likely you won't see the design. You can sublimate onto sublimation vinyl and put that on to your cotton shirt.🥰
Is there a way to sublimate onto cotton without a cricut? I print from a epson2400 but I haven't bought a cricut yet.
Yes! You could cut the HTV by hand and press it onto the shirt as we have. 😊🌻
Thanks for all the info! What's the difference between using printable vinyl and sublimating on htv?
Not much really because there will still be vinyl on the shirt either way.
I don't have a sublimation printer. Can Cricut Infusible Ink be layered with the EasySubli method?
Does using Easy Color DTV always have to be used on cotton, or can I use a blend? Thanks! Since I don't have a sublimation printer, I'm going to try this!
You can use a blend.
Hi I have a question , so If I decide to do the Cricht method , then I don’t have to do the spray still if it’s cotton? Or what if I want to do the spray method only , that means I can sublimate on black tshirts with the spray method only?
You will need The vinyl to sublimate on a black t-shirt for it to show up. jennifermaker.com/how-to-sublimate-on-cotton/
