I tried the Carnivore Diet for a week...

  • I'm a sucker for trying interesting diets! With that said, I decided to try the carnivore diet for an entire week. The diet has made some big headlines lately. Even talked about in great detail on Joe Rogan's podcast with Shawn Baker and Jordan Peterson.
For those of you who don't know what the diet is, it's an extremely restrictive diet that focuses on ONLY eating animal products mainly coming from red meat.
The diet supposedly has many health benefits such as weight loss, reduce inflammation, fewer digestive problems, increased mental clarity and more.
Out of all diets I've tried, this one was definitely the hardest!
Hope you enjoy the video :)

With a zero carb diet like this you're gonna be excreting a ton of sodium. Might have been why you felt awful around 9:30 - you gotta add a surprising amount of salt to get your sodium levels back up.
Carnivore adaptation period is definitely rough though - you'll want to get a 32 inch monitor as well as a wall mount and hook that up to a PS4 in your bathroom right in front of your toilet

I did carnivore for a month and transitioned into zero carb then keto, then finally a moderate carb diet. I did it all for my ibs and it helped immensely. Carnivore was a great elimination diet for me but I couldn't stand smelling like meat all the time and my neighbors hated me for making the hall smell like meat everyday lol ironically even though I have ibs I never got diarrhea on carnivore, my bathroom habits were actually great, though I did poop less.

    • @danielhanks6508

I did something similar. I think one reason Will felt bad was because he didn’t listen to his body saying it wasn’t hungry to try to get his calories in. I’ve been in a deficit since May and didn’t start lifting til July and my muscle and strength has grown significantly because I hit my protein and use my fat as fuel. If I’m not hungry I don’t eat.

Yes, a lot of people do carnivore to reverse autoimmune conditions. I did it for a few years and reversed a few autoimmune conditions and literally got my life back because I was very very sick and overweight a few years ago. Eventually lost almost 70 pounds, went down 4 sizes, lost about 10% body fat (possibly more) and now I eat a much wider variety of food. I am still working on my health and have bigger fitness goals. Became a trainer/health coach in the process of it all because of the dramatic change in my health and fitness. It was all so worth it but I wouldn't want to do it for the rest of my life. I went back to keto and now I'm starting to add back in more food slowly, but will probably stay fairly low carb most days with carbs centered around my workouts and higher carb days here and there. I am not into being dogmatic or make any WOE a religion. Thank God I love meat!!

This was the only diet video I've seen Will do where I was actually hungry watching. I can understand going full carnivore may be difficult, but I can certainly get on board with having more carnivore and fewer carbs. What I definitely could not do is cut out coffee. All the symptoms of headache and lethargy are what I experience if I go without coffee for a day. I recently cut down on carbs and substituted more protein from meat and eggs, and I have noticed a huge reduction in gas and bathroom issues. But I am not 100% carnivore though, which I imagine would be a huge shock to the system.

Traditional diets tend to boil their meats instead of frying or grilling... I'm curious if that might help with the stomach issues. I knew a Lakota elder and she told me that growing up they boiled everything. She told me that once her kids started taking care of her and cooking all her food they were frying and grilling and that it didn't feel good in her stomach. I imagine that when changing a diet so drastically it may take time to adjust the stomach flora to handle the dense food. Our stomachs aren't just blenders that grind up the food. It's a chemical process between the food and our stomach enzymes and bacteria. This takes time.

Today I passed the 7 day mark on the Carnivore diet. What drove me to it was I had reached a resting blood pressure of 191/110. Early this morning - right when I actually passed the seven day mark, my blood pressure came in at 122/80. The bulk of the excess blood pressure came off in the first 3 days. In fact in the very first day, my blood pressure dropped from 191/110 to 160/100. The very first day.
But if you look up blood pressure and the carnivore diet, all the medical professionals are saying “If you have high blood pressure, do not do the carnivore diet.” Modern medicine has life threateningly (to patient lives) bad biases.

I use freeze dried beef liver, heart, kidney caps for the extra nutrition. I make my own lemon water with salt potassium and a little bit of monk fruit powder about three quarts a day. Only cook with butter, lard, or coconut oil. High fat moderate protein very low sugar does work for me. You got to get through the first week or two at least to get yourself completely adjusted. I have been on carnivore for the most part for a little less than 5 months. I have lost around 77lbs. Just recently started going to the gym. Lost most of that weight just with the diet. It is like keto but hard core. I love the results I am getting. You don’t need to eat if you’re not hungry in carnivore. You only eat when you are hungry and eat until you are comfortably stuffed. Pork rinds are a good snack to chill with.

It helps you lose fat and gain muscle so if you are already jacked you don’t necessarily have to change what you are doing- it has helped me to get down from 311 lbs to 234lbs in less than 5 months. You can transform your health and revolutionize your way of living with this diet. It is worth pushing through the keto flu and the carnivore poops to have the overwhelmingly better results later. I challenge someone reading this to try it for 30-90 days. You will more than likely drop 30 lbs in 30 days easily if you do exactly what Dr. Berry says on his channel.

It got me from a 6.7 A1C to 4.3 so I'm not worrying about diabetes medication anymore, I lost 70lbs as well, but put most of it back on when I went off of carnivore. I'm getting it back off by switching to keto, but the bulk of my calories are still carnivore. It's not reasonable to ask Will to give it the required amount of time to adjust to carnivore, but if he'd done it immediately after his week of keto he'd probably have had a better time with it.

I was 87kg at the time and after 2 months was down to 79kg. Lean and very strong. My gut has never felt so good. I would go bathroom once a day, effortlessly, no gas. I dont do caffeine but fuck was it hard having no carbs. I didnt get headaches at all. I had a shit ton of salt. I had a shit ton of heavy cream. The worst i ever felt was the month after ending carnivore. I vowed never to eat bread or pasta again. Now i do essentially what saladino does. Never felt better. Meat and fruit.

Yeah, even more so the sugar/carb withdrawals. If you've just been stuffing yourself with carbs and sugar for a long time, going into ketosis is hard.

I did carnivore for a month. I had no issues with energy or hunger. But oh man, the bathroom situation was brutal and the biggest reason I'd never do it again. Had to be within close range of one 24/7 because at any time it could go from nothing to emergency extremely quickly.

I've wanted to try this diet and have heard the first few weeks you feel absolutely horrible, but after that passes you feel better than before

Did this diet for 5 months strict and went from 250 to around 170 pounds, the first 2 weeks will be your break in period your body with get used to the little to no carbs but once you get into the third or fourth week you should begin to feel better. Big problem when first starting is obviously the bathroom troubles and the extreme headaches, a good way to counteract the headaches from my experience is to get some pink Himalayan salt from the store and put about a pinch or two into your water and let it dissolve and drink it, I noticed that that helped a lot with the initial headaches the bathroom troubles will get better over time I was actually to point of only using the bathroom(not including peeing) 2-3 times a week maximum

I wen't to try this diet for 2 weeks and 2 months later I'm still going. This video covers the worst part of the diet which is week one, from there things went amazing for me. Dropped so much weight without exercising, and managed to hold onto my muscle...the results were so incredible I don't want to stop
