Isan for the most part is just a dialect of Lao. All the videos you showed I understand them as my parent is from roi et and champpasak. Just like Khmer surin is a northern Khmer dialect or Khmer Krom in Vietnam they are speaking a dialect of Khmer.

I've lived in the for a few years close to *Roi Et* . But I'll have to be a lot older before I can converse perfectly with our neighbors in their dialect. But isn't it that simple? - Because even the smallest children learn it from their parents.
Well..kids and adults learn a language differently. I’d recommend to start learning Isaan seriously when you live in Isaan. Otherwise, it will just mix up your central Thai.
