  • Should you buy this car today?
    As a mechanic of 20 years I've seen my fair share of cars the good the bad and the ugly! This car may fit into 2 of those categories.
    So here my honest review of the Vauxhall Zafira c 2016 sri

    I have had one for 5 years now and out of all the cars I have had, its my favourite and I'll tell you why. Hardy, reliable, versatile and well priced. The 2L SRi is a great motorway car. You can be sitting at 70, put the foot down and there's a confident overtaking surge. Brakes are decent too. You can load it like a small van -and I have -many many times and the torquey engine doesnt notice even when going fully loaded up over country hillsides. And, as the man says, its no mechanical challenge if it needs to go in for something. Front tyres were consumed possibly prematurely and also the connecting wishbones but hey there will always be those standard consumables. Its a fckin good motor....

    I have a Meriva B Techline 2017 1.6 CDTI had it from new I love the car but the timing chain on the B16 DTH engine the labour is very costly because the chain is behind the gear box at the back of the engine and it's a pain to get at and gear box out job or engine removal

    thanks for the vid, I am looking at buying the newer petrol model as you recomend but petrol due to ULED. Which reliable petrol engine would you recomend in the newer facelift model and also even in this old version, just in case I can not strech my budget? love the vid, keep them coming, love cars in general, even if I can not afford the good ones lol, cheers

      Stay away from the 1.6 it's under powered and uses too much fuel. The 1.8 or 2.o should be fine. Good luck 👍

    Looking to buy one of these. 2016 2.0 cdti 7 seater auto same as u are testing, will be doing high mileage as a private hire driver. Seen bad reviews but u as a mechanic seem to think its a good car. in budget So id take your advice over other reviews being a mechanic. Any thoughts?

    • @rstv84
      @rstv84  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As a private hire car theses engines are not the best when you get over the say 160k. There are better options out there. The cams can wear quite a bit. And turbos can fail. The all expensive to repair. That's my honest option. Stick to Peugeot hdi engine or 2.0 pd vw engine.

      @@rstv84 i suppose good idea just doing different cars u get in. Not many people doing what your doing but worth a shot. Maybe u could offer 20mn phone consultation for public on specific car they are buying and charge 30£. But then that could be a can of worms for you. Thanks for review on car, i might still buy but knoe the risks. God bless

      It also depends on budget, but these are not that bad of a 7 seater. I also look at the vw touran. Or check out some what car reviews they are usually spot on.
